ICYMI: Alonso goes flying, Vettel victorious at Spa... top 5 moments of the crash-marred Belgian GP

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel came out tops in a crash-marred Belgian grand prix, while the dramatic crash on the first lap involving Fernando Alonso's car going airborne is a topic of discussion.

The win was Vettel's fifth this season, equalling Hamilton's tally, and the 52nd of his career, surpassing the 51 of four-time world champion Alain Prost. Although there was an incident on the very first lap..

Alonso goes flying

A crash on the very first lap resulted in Nico Hulkenberg, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, Daniel Ricciardo and Charles Leclerc not being able to finish the race. Luckily none of the drivers were injured.

Fernando Alonso's McLaren was sent spiralling airborne over the halo-fitted cockpit of Charles Leclerc's Sauber.

The tussle for the top between Vettel and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton seems to be hotting up as Hamilton's lead at the top was trimmed by 7 points from 24 to 17 points as they prepare for this weekend's Italian grand prix.

1. Fernando Alonso goes flying

It was an afternoon to forget for the retiring Fernando Alonso as a first lap crash put an abrupt end to his race as well as 4 rivals s including Renault-bound Daniel Ricciardo.

2. A victory jig from Vettel

The Ferrari driver is not one for dancing but he gave the crowd a glimpse of his dance moves after the race had been completed.

Vettel was in celebratory mood, moving to the sound of the instruments as he hopes to replicate the same form in the Italian grand prix.

3. Dressing up for the occassion

Crowds came out in their numbers to watch an action-filled day of racing at Spa. What was awesome were fans dressed for the occasion.

Holding a small British flag in one hand backing Lewis Hamilton for the win, they wore red and white suits.

4. 'Congratulations to Seb'

Lewis Hamilton finished second to eventual winner Sebastian Vettel but gave credit to his rival's driving.

'"He drove past me like I wasn't even there on the straight." This is what Lewis Hamilton said of Sebastian Vettel's dominant victory at Spa.

5. Bottas smashes the lap record

Although he finished the race in 4th place, Valtteri Bottas broke the lap record at Spa, ahead of Sebastian Vettel and team mate Lewis Hamilton.

He posted a time of 1:46:286.

“I got a good momentum out of Turn 1 so I tried it. You keep flat. You keep the throttle. You floor it. That's how you do it. Don't close your eyes and don't blink. That's the only way to get through."
