LONDON, England - The Williams Formula 1 team has at last confirmed speculation that Brazilian oil company Petrobras will return as a sponsor in 2014.
It had been rumoured for some time that Petrobras, having backed the team from 1998 to 2008, would be wooed back to Williams by the signing of Brazilian Felipe Massa.
The team announced the deal on February 18.
NEW BRANDING
Team founder and boss Frank Williams said: "Petrobras and Williams had a successful partnership and we are both looking forward to re-uniting for 2014."
A media statement said Williams' Mercedes-powered FW36 would carry Petrobras logos and a new fuel would be developed for use in F1 in 2015.
Williams added: "Technologically they are very strong. That will be important for the team as the new regulations have made fuel-efficiency increasingly important."
