Surprise drug test for F1 drivers

Several F1 drivers have been tested for drugs, among them McLaren rookie Sergio Perez and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.

Perez confirmed he had endured "a very early morning" because of a surprise urine test.

'STARING OVER YOUR SHOULDER'

The tests were to ensure that FIA-sanctioned drivers comply with the World Anti-Doping Agency international standards.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso admitted that he had also been tested.

Daniel Ricciardo commented on Twitter: "Got drug tested early hours this morning. All of a sudden pissing in your own home becomes difficult with someone staring over your shoulder."

The WADA standard includes not only drug testing at grands prix but also "out of competition" tests conducted during test sessions.
