Schumie back in F1 car for fun

LONDON, England - Retired seven-times Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher will drive his old race car again in May in a demonstration run around the daunting Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany.

Mercedes said the 44-year-old's drive in a 2011 car around the old 20km track, before the start of a 24-hour race on May 19, would be a "thank you" to his fans for their years of support.

It will also be the first outing on the track, dubbed 'The Green Hell' by triple champion Jackie Stewart in the 1970's, by a modern works Mercedes Silver Arrow F1 car since Argentine Juan Manuel Fangio won there in 1954.

Schumacher, who grew up in nearby Kerpen, retired from F1 in 2013 and is now a "brand ambassador" for Mercedes.

They should rather get somebody who can drive to do the job. This guy is useless.

Does anybody remember that he won seven titles? All I remember is that he sucked on his return

Shumager was also the only F1 driver to be STRIPPED of his points by the FIA because of cheating. Confirming that he was the most dishonest racer in the history of the sport, 7 titles and all. Shameful!!!

That will be a good publicity for the team and for us as followers of this sport. We still want to see him doing more to bring the sport to the next level as a legend. Like what Beckham did to soccer.
