BARCELONA, Spain - McLaren-Honda's troubled pre-season continued on Thursday (Feb 19 2015) as the second winter test session got under way near the Mediterranean port of Barcelona.

At lunch on Day 1 at the Circuit de Catalunya Jenson Button's work at the wheel of an MP4-30 was over when a faulty seal was found in a component of the Honda power unit's energy recovery system.

McLaren confirmed that mean "the full replacement of the power unit".

Similar problems might strike today (Friday Feb 20 2015) when Fernando Alonso is due to take the wheel.

Honda chief Yasuhisa Arai confirmed that the part would have to be re-designed but until that was done "we may face the same problem when we run again".

McLaren added on Twitter: "Such issues are all part of testing and we will plan for a productive day of running with Fernando behind the wheel on Friday."
