04 Aug 16:54 Today marks Hamilton's 81st career win, and he equals Michael Schumacher's 7th win in Hungary.
04 Aug 16:50 Vettel gets a place on the podium in 3rd, 4th for Leclerc, Carlo Sainz in p5, Gasly 6th, Raikkonen P7, Bottas P8, Norris P9, and p10 for Albon.
04 Aug 16:48 Verstappen comes in second and is the Driver of the Day.
04 Aug 16:48 Hamilton wins the Hungarian GP.
04 Aug 16:47 Final lap for Lewis as Verstappen takes fastest lap.
04 Aug 16:45 Vettel passes Leclerc for 3rd!
04 Aug 16:44 Max comes in for fastest lap!
04 Aug 16:43 Hamilton passes Max on lap 67!
04 Aug 16:41 5 laps to g, Max told he has 4 seconds energy in the bank.
04 Aug 16:39 Max: "Tyres are dead".
04 Aug 16:36 Hamilton: I don't know how much of these tyres we have left.
Engineer: It doesn't matter Lewis, just give it everything!
04 Aug 16:35 9 laps to g, gap is now 10seconds between Max and Lewis.
04 Aug 16:31 By the way, Sainz is in P5, Gasly in P6 and Raikkonen P7.
04 Aug 16:26 Ferrari don't even feature in this race. Disappointing weekend for them.
04 Aug 16:25 Grosjean's race is over, his car is back in the garage.
04 Aug 16:13 Max asking for full power, but told he is already on it.
04 Aug 16:13 Bottas given a blue flag and told Hamilton coming up behind him.
04 Aug 16:06 Max holds on to the lead... Hamilton just could not take it from him.
04 Aug 16:05 Wheel to wheel!!!
04 Aug 16:05 Did Max just make a lil mistake?
04 Aug 16:05 Vettel told 3 more laps for Plan C - probably for softs.
04 Aug 16:04 Max keeping the silver arrow at bay.
04 Aug 16:01 0.7 seconds between Hamilton and Max.
04 Aug 15:59 Bottas now in P11, aiming for a P6 finish.
04 Aug 15:58 Norris and Magnussen have a little tussle.
04 Aug 15:55 Hamilton in and out of the box.
04 Aug 15:55 Now would be a good time to bring Hamilton in.
04 Aug 15:54 Ricciardo in P10, has not pitted yet.
04 Aug 15:54 Hamilton: My tyres are still good. I can still continue. Let me know if you want me to keep going.
04 Aug 15:47 Who will box first... it's Red Bull!
04 Aug 15:45 Hamilton is now within DRS range of Verstappen.
FINISH Well, isn't it great to see a fight between two great drivers, driving in teams that can run competent strategies? No offence Ferrari... That brings us to the summer break, with Hamilton heading into it with an almost unassailable lead in the championship. Can Verstappen at least catch one Mercedes? More importantly, can he single-handedly hunt down Ferrari in the constructors? Join us at the end of the month for the Belgian Grand Prix to see the battles recommence.
FINISH The remaining order was: PER, HUL, MAG, RIC, KVY, RUS, STR, GIO, KUB, GRO (retired).
FINISH It was a solid if uninspiring recovery drive from Bottas who finishes P8. He's now just seven points ahead of Verstappen. Completing the top ten are Lando Norris and Alex Albon.
FINISH Pierre Gasly's struggles continue, as he finishes P6, ahead of Kimi Raikkonen.
FINISH Vettel comes home in P3 ahead of Leclerc, while Sainz takes home yet another great result, finishing P5.
FINISH Lewis Hamilton wins the Hungarian Grand Prix! Mercedes have him the perfect strategy, and he executed it perfectly, too. He finishes just under twenty seconds clear of Verstappen.
Lap 70 Verstappen sets fastest lap, doing a 1:17.103.
Lap 69 Behind the top two, Vettel has passed Leclerc down the inside of Turn 1 to take the final podium spot.
Lap 68 The Dutchman pits for softs. If it's any consolation, he'll probably get the fastest lap...
Lap 67 Hamilton takes the lead at Turn1! Mercedes have played a blinder with their strategy there. Expect to see Verstappen pit...
Lap 66 Hamilton within a second.
Lap 64 Verstappen says his tyres are "dead".
Lap 64 Six laps to go, six seconds between them.
Lap 62 Hamilton should be within striking distance in six laps. It's his race to lose.
Lap 61 10 laps to go, and Hamilton is told Verstappen will be down to "zero rubber" by the final lap.
Lap 59 Hamilton sets a new lap record, closing the gap to 12.7 seconds. This will be a close one...
Lap 58 The gap is currently at 14.8 seconds between Verstappen and Hamilton.
Lap 53 Barring a safety car or Hamilton mistake, the two will be back next to each other with a few laps left. Verstappen will have to have an absolute stormer if he's to win this.
Lap 52 The first retirement of the day goes to Romain Grosjean. They may have an issue, but given where he was running, maybe he just couldn't be bothered.
Lap 50 If Verstappen pits, Hamilton will take the lead now. The Dutchman will have to nurse his tyres to the end.
Lap 49 Hamilton pits! That's a shock - Mercedes must think that the hards won't make it to the end.
Lap 48 Further back, Bottas has pitted for mediums and come out in P12. As it stands, Verstappen passes him in the championship standings.
Lap 47 We need these two battlings in even cars every week. Give Max a call please, Toto.
Lap 46 Hamilton gets it back down to a second. This really is a game of cat and mouse now.
Lap 44 Gap staying steady at around 1.4 seconds now.
Lap 41 Verstappen has gone purple now and is pulling away. Next to lap for him? Valtteri Bottas...
Lap 39 Hamilton goes for it around the outside of Turn 4! He briefly passes before going too wide, allowing Verstappen to take back the lead. Crikey.
Lap 37 It looks like the Red Bull has weathered the storm. He's got the gap back up to just over a second. What a fight this is.
Lap 36 Verstappen needs to hold Hamilton off here if he wants to win today. The longer he stays ahead, the more worn Hamilton's tyres get.
Lap 35 He's now less than a second behind the Dutchman.
Lap 34 The Brit is flying now though, going purple. He's already closed the gap to 2.8 seconds.
Lap 32 Hamilton pits and comes out almost six seconds behind Verstappen. He does have tyres that are six laps fresher though, which could be crucial come the last few laps.
Lap 29 Norris and Gasly both pit, with the former having a poor stop and losing out to the latter, as well as Magnussen and Ricciardo, who have to yet to pit.
Lap 28 Leclerc pits for hard tyres and comes out in P4.
Lap 27 Verstappen is nailing his first few laps, closing the gap to Hamilton, who says on the radio he can't go any faster.
Lap 26 Verstappen pits! He goes onto the hard tyre and more importantly, ahead of Leclerc. Can he stay ahead of Hamilton?
Lap 25 Both of the leaders want to pit, but both are staying ahead as the teams don't want them stuck behind the Ferraris when they come out.
Lap 24 Hamilton now within DRS range...
Lap 24 Leclerc meanwhile is 18 seconds down on Hamilton, and Vettel a further two behind.
Lap 21 As I say that, Hamilton closes to 1.3 seconds. Verstappen is starting to struggle with grip.
Lap 20 If last week was a bit of a mass brawl, today is more akin to a game of chess. It's all going to be decided by the pit strategy, you'd think.
Lap 19 The best racing of the day comes courtesy of Kvyat and Albon, as the Russian passes his rookie team-mate having run side by side for four corners.
Lap 18 Hamilton closing the gap ever so slightly now - it's currently at 1.8 seconds.
Lap 16 Not too much track action happening. Bottas has just passed Russell to move up to P16, but that's about it...
Lap 13 "Tell me when you need me to close up", says Hamilton. He sounds rather confident...
Lap 11 Further back, George Russell is doing a good job in P14, but has a charging Ricciardo on the way...
Lap 11 Bottas is now the fastest man on track and has been told by his team that P6 at the end of the race is likely.
Lap 9 Verstappen and Hamilton lapping at pretty much the same pace. They're in a league of their own at the moment.
Lap 6 Bottas pits for hard tyres and will be going to the end of the race on them. He returns to track in last.
Lap 6 Rewatching the start, it was actually Leclerc who damaged Bottas' wing. Also, Hamilton's move on Bottas was beautiful.
Lap 5 Verstappen is leading Hamilton by just over two seconds as behind them, Vettel is gaining on Leclerc.
Lap 3 Looks like he's staying out for now... Meanwhile, Gasly has lost three positions and is now running in P9.
Lap 2 Bottas has severe front-wing damage courtesy of Hamilton and will have to pit, surely. Vettel has passed him.
Lap 1 And we're off! Verstappen gets away well and holds the lead as Hamilton sweeps around the outside of Bottas a few turns in. The Finn then loses out to Leclerc too.
15:10 The formation lap is underway. Here we go...
15:03 Cars can get absolutely huge slipstreams at the start, such is the run to the first corner, so expect to see Verstappen under serious pressure whatever happens.
14:58 Sainz: "There's an opportunity to get the Red Bull and Ferraris at the start. it might not last very long, but we'll give it a go."
14:50 The grid is starting to fill up with the usual circus of teams, press and celebs as the cars make their way around. 20 minutes to lights out.
14:41 If Verstappen wants to win his third win in four races, he'll surely have to make a much better start than usual. At a track where it's so difficult to overtake, the man leading at the end of the first lap has so often cruised to victory. No pressure, Max.
14:34 After last week's chaotic wet race, it looks like it's back to normal today. The air temperature is currently 23'C and rising, with no signs of rain for the day.
14:28 The rest of the grid, with penalties applied, is: HUL, ALB, KVY, MAG, RUS, PER, GIO, STR, KUB, RIC.
14:22 Romain Grosjean enjoyed a good day yesterday to make it to Q3, and he starts P9 ahead of former team-mate Kimi Raikkonen. Mind you, with the race pace Haas have, expect that to change rather promptly.
14:17 Pierre Gasly starts P6 - he was nearly a second slower than his team-mate Verstappen yesterday and looks like he'll be much busier with the McLarens behind him than the big boys up ahead. The British outfit once again looks to be the best of the rest, with Norris and Sainz starting P7 and P8 respectively.
14:10 Given his record here, Lewis Hamilton will be disappointed to be starting from the second row of the grid, but the chances of him sticking around there are slim, you'd think. In his rear-view mirrors are the Ferraris, who look to be off the pace of the front three this weekend. Leclerc starts ahead of Vettel.
14:04 Well, yesterday will go down in history as the day that Max Verstappen got his first ever pole position in F1. Something tells me it won't be his last... Thanks to literal milliseconds, he starts ahead of Valtteri Bottas.
13:45 Hello and welcome to the Hungarian Grand Prix, the final race before Formula 1 heads off on its jollies for the summer break. Full build-up from 1400 local time.
16:14 Well, traditionally in Hungary, track position is king, and with Max Verstappen on pole, the Dutchman has a great chance of making it three wins in four races. If so, he's surely in the mix for the title. The two men ahead of him in the championship start just behind him tomorrow though, and will surely have something to say. It's lights out at 14:10 local time, join us then - it should be a good one.
16:09 The full grid for tomorrow is: VER, BOT, HAM, LEC, VET, GAS, NOR, SAI, GRO, RAI, HUL, ALB, KVY, GIO, MAG, RUS, PER, RIC, STR, KUB.
16:06 Grosjean and Raikkonen complete the top ten, with just 28 milliseconds separating the former team-mates.
16:05 Gasly was only quick enough for P6, eight tenths slower than his team-mate. He starts ahead of the McLarens of Norris and Sainz.
16:03 Hamilton could only get P3, while Leclerc improved to go above Vettel.
16:02 Max Verstappen takes his first ever pole position in Formula 1! Himself and Bottas both improved, with the Dutchman going 18 milliseconds quicker!
15:57 The cars are coming out for their final runs.
15:56 Gasly is P6, ahead of Norris, Sainz, Raikkonen and Grosjean in that order.
15:53 Vettel and Leclerc meanwhile are P4 and P5, a fair bit off the pace of the top three.
15:52 Verstappen puts in a 1:14.958 to take provisional pole!
15:51 The Mercedes cars put in their first laps. Hamilton does a 1:15.146, Bottas a 1:15.136. Tight.
15:48 Here we go then - Q3 is underway. Can Max Verstappen get his first ever pole position in F1?
15:42 Raikkonen improves to move into P10 and send Hulkenberg out of qualifying. The bottom five are HUL, ALB, KVY, GIO, MAG.
15:37 Cars coming out for their final runs now. Three minutes to go.
15:35 The McLarens look set to be the best of the rest yet again, but the final two spots in the top ten are very much up for grabs. Hulkenberg and Grosjean currently occupy them.
15:33 Norris meanwhile has gone quicker than the Red Bull of Gasly, with Sainz not far off either.
15:32 The top teams are all running the medium tyre, with Hamilton top, less than a tenth clear of Verstappen.
15:26 We have green lights for Q2, and it's Bottas who leads the way.
15:20 The track got much quicker and the drivers took advantage, with most going green. In the end, those out were RUS, PER, RIC, STR, KUB. A great effort from George Russell, not so much from Daniel Ricciardo...
15:12 Just over five minutes to go, and the bottom five are KVY, GIO, STR, GRO, KUB. Russel is up to P14!
15:11 Leclerc's had a spin at the final corner and damaged his rear wing on the barrier. He's returning to the pits for repairs.
15:10 Bottas and Hamilton split the Ferraris while Verstappen goes P1 with a 1:15.817.
15:08 Vettel the first of the top teams to put a time in, and the German does a 1:16.581, but is quickly passed by his team-mate who does a 1:16.337.
15:04 George Russell is half a second quicker than Lance Stroll. The Williams has looked much stronger this weekend, but surely Q2 is too much to ask...
15:00 Q1 is underway. with Lance Stroll the first man out.
14:50 Max Verstappen has yet to take a pole position in F1, while Hamilton has six at this track alone. The talk of the grid at the moment is about which one is the best driver in the sport - will one of them further their claim today, or will the Ferraris have something to say? Under ten minutes until green lights.
14:44 It's a warm, cloudy day in Budapest, but it looks like the rain will be staying away today.
14:40 The Ferrari is undoubtedly the quickest car through the first sector but loses a lot of time to Mercedes and Red Bull in the rest of the lap, meaning there's very little to choose between the cars by the finish line. Lovely.
14:35 I say that because, at the end of FP3, less than a tenth separated the top three drivers. If that's not exciting enough, the drivers were all from different teams, with Hamilton narrowly leading Verstappen and Vettel.
14:32 Hello and welcome to the Planet F1 coverage of qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix! Grab your popcorn and settle down, because it's set to be a cracker.
13:03 Qualifying gets underway in two hours time. Join us there for what should be a cracker. Who's your money on?
13:02 That's that for FP3, with the top ten as follows: HAM, VER, VET, BOT, LEC, GAS, NOR, RAI, SAI, MAG.
13:00 Hamilton takes P1 by the skin of his teeth, going 13 milliseconds quicker than Verstappen.
12:58 I don't want to jinx anything, but we could be in for a five-horse race in qualifying...
12:57 Vettel goes P2, less than a tenth off Verstappen. The prancing horse flies through the first sector, but loses a ton of time in the second and third.
12:54 Verstappen goes P1 with a 1:16.097, which is a new track record.
12:52 The big three teams have come in for new tyres to go round on for the last ten minutes.
12:48 Just half a second separates Magnussen in P9 and Russel in P18.
12:47 Further down the field, George Russell finds himself above Stroll and just over a tenth off Albon. Dizzy heights for the upgraded Williams car.
12:45 Leclerc is having no such issues though as he goes P2.
12:44 Ferrari have made some setup changes and Vettel is now reporting that it feels like a "different car". Not in a good way.
12:43 Verstappen puts in a good lap to go a tenth slower than Lewis Hamilton.
12:40 The track is definitely getting quicker now as we head into the low 1:16s courtesy of Hamilton, who goes top with a 1:16.339.
12:36 Lando Norris meanwhile has gone P3, just over a tenth off Verstappen. Not bad, eh?
12:35 Verstappen now goes top with a 1:17.035, as Mercedes are changing their front wings...
12:31 The Silver Arrows are picking up the pace now, with Hamilton going P1 with a 1:17.051 and Bottas P2, two tenths down.
12:29 Verstappen goes P5, half a second quicker than Gasly but some way off the leaders.
12:27 Hamilton goes just three hundredths of a second quicker than his team-mate.
12:26 Bottas' first lap is a 1:17.669, putting him in P3.
12:22 Vettel quickly surpasses his team-mate, doing a 1:17.435. Both are on the soft tyre.
12:21 Leclerc the first of the big boys to do a "quick" lap, as he goes top with a 1:18.228.
12:18 Norris and Sainz the top two at the moment, with the Brit leading with a 1:18.706.
12:12 The dust used to clear the oil is still on track, and the cars are creating huge clouds going through it. It's also rather slippery.
12:11 We have green lights, and the Haas and Alfa Romeo cars are the first out on track.
11:58 The start of FP3 has been delayed by ten minutes due to work being done on the track to clear oil that leaked from a car in the F2 race.
11:50 It's worth noting that the weather should be dry for qualifying, before the ominous rain clouds return at 14:00 tomorrow. No, really.
11:43 We could be in for a wet FP3, with a 51% chance of rain. After last weekend, I'm sure the drivers will be chuffed to see the sight of wet tyres again...
11:40 Yesterday saw Mercedes and Red Bull dominate, with Hamilton topping FP1 ahead of Verstappen, and the Dutchman finding himself in P2 again in FP2, this time trailing his team-mate, Pierre Gasly.
11:35 It's a warm Saturday morning in Budapest where FP3 will get started in less than half an hour.
10:00 Welcome back to a dry Hungaroring for Saturday's third and final practice hour. The session gets underway in two hours. All times are local.
16:35 Join us tomorrow for FP3 which should give us a better idea of where everybody is before qualifying. See you then.
16:34 P11 Grosjean, P12 Magnussen, P13 Vettel, P14 Sainz, P15 Perez, P16 Stroll, P17 Russell, P18 Norris, P19 Kubica and P20 Albon completes the order.
16:30 P3 Hamilton, P4 Bottas, P5 Ricciardo, P6 Raikkonen, P7 Leclerc, P8 Hulkenberg, P9 Giovinazzi and P10 Kvyat completes the top ten.
16:29 This let's be honest boring session is nearly over. Gasly is going to finish P1 with Verstappen in P2. A slightly hollow one-two for Red Bull but all good for the stats.
16:18 For the first time in this session there is spray coming up from the track. 12 mins to go.
16:15 Verstappen three seconds faster than the rest with his lap on the inters.
16:09 A few more giving the inters a go including both Ferraris and George Russell.
16:06 Rain getting a bit heavier now. Raikkonen heads out on the inters and is greeted by cheers from the very wet crowd.
16:00 McLaren to Carlos Sainz as he goes out on the mediums: "Currently all of the marshal posts are not reporting any rain." Sainz: "All the marshals must be having a beer then."
15:57 On a plus, if there is no further action, Gasly will top a Red Bull one-two.
15:56 It's that annoying drizzle which is keeping drivers in the garage. As stated earlier too wet for dry tyres, too dry for inters, so as Perez put it "We would not learn anything".
15:48 Kvyat next to do a tour of the Hungaroring on the inters.
15:43 Seems nobody agreed.
15:37 "The track is good to go" says Perez.
15:30 Bottas is on track running the inters. Doesn't appear enough water to make those work. He unsurprisingly boxes again on that lap.
15:29 "Driver error, my mistake" confirms Albon.
15:27 Albon has been released from the medical centre and looks fine. Good news after a heavy impact.
15:25 Back to that stage that we had in FP1 of too wet for slicks, too dry for inters. Not much action at the moment.
15:20 Gasly now goes fastest, but on the softs, don't get too excited.
15:19 Hamilton improves slightly to a 1:17.9 before that's bettered by Verstappen who takes over P1.
15:18 It's raining but currently not enough to make dry tyre running difficult.
15:16 1:18.110 from Hamilton puts him fastest, Verstappen running the mediums goes into P2.
15:15 Real mix of tyres out there - Hamilton and Vettel on the hards, Bottas on the mediums, Ricciardo on the softs.
15:14 Flurry of times. Bottas fastest at the moment with Daniel Ricciardo three tenths behind in P2.
15:09 Session back underway. Bottas straight back out and still on the mediums. He needs as much time and as little rain as possible after the dramas of this morning.
15:07 Albon was a winner at the Hungaroring last year in F2. His Formula 1 adventures around the circuit aren't starting as well.
15:05 Well that didn't last long. Red flags are out as Alex Albon bins it into the barriers at the last corner.
15:04 100% chance of rain for FP2. Yippee.
15:00 The green light appears. FP2 is underway as the drivers rush out on the slicks with rain in the air.
14:58 Racing Point were also struggling with both Lance Stroll and Sergio Perex spinning in FP1, while Lando Norris escaped any further action from the stewards for stopping in the fast lane of the pits.
14:55 Verstappen went for a few spins in FP1 after complaining that his RB15 was extremely "sensitive". The team will hope to nip that potential issue in the bud before Saturday.
14:52 Max Verstappen ended the morning session P2 0.16s behind Hamilton, with Sebastian Vettel a mere 0.001s adrift of the Dutchman in P3.
14:50 Lewis Hamilton topped FP1 with Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas failing to set a time after a power unit issue. The Silver Arrows will hope to have both challengers out on track in this session.
14:47 Hello and welcome to our live commentary from FP2 at the Hungarian GP. All times are local.
12:33 That's it for now, join us again in two hours for FP2. Cheers!
12:32 Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel claimed the top three spots on the Hungarian FP1 timesheet, separated by 0.166s.
12:30 The chequered flag it out on FP1...
12:28 With two minutes remaining in FP1 it is Perez, Giovinazzi, Russell, Stroll and Kubica who would be in the drop zone if this was qualifying.
12:25 Another spin for Verstappen, this time at Turn 12. "Unbelievable this session, it is so sensitive, I keep sliding on entry," he tells Red Bull.
12:23 And here's a weird one for Kvyat, he drove out of the Toro Rosso garage with the protection flap - used to keep fumes away from the mechanics when the car is fired up - still attached to his rear wing. It is off by the time he leaves the pits.
12:22 Update on Sainz; it is a water pressure problem with his McLaren's Renault engine so the team are changing his engine.
12:21 Leclerc has upped his pace but stays sixth on the soft tyres. He is, however, 0.8s down on Vettel which could be a concern for Ferrari as the Monégasque driver is running their new bargeboard update.
12:20 Kvyat's STR is having a dental moment with the grinders out on both sides of the car. That noise!!!
12:19 Sainz's session has come to a premature end with a cooling or engine problem for his McLaren. Here's hoping it is the former.
12:16 Raikkonen has taken P10 off Ricciardo, leapfrogging the Renault man by 0.11s.
12:14 Magnussen is back in the pits with the Haas driver have also whacked his front wing.
12:12 Raikkonen in the Alfa Romeo is knocking on the door of the top ten in P11. He is 0.001s down on Ricciardo in tenth!
12:09 Verstappen is told to pit as he has front wing damage courtesy of Turn 4.
12:07 There is no penalty for the Finn as Mercedes are putting in an engine that is already in his available pool.
12:06 Perez, Stroll, Russell, Giovinazzi and Kubica are the final five drivers on the timesheets, well except for Bottas who has not and will not set a time this session as Mercedes are changing his engine.
12:01 Verstappen improves his time but stays P3 while Gasly has climbed to fourth.
12:00 Vettel purple in the first sector on the soft tyres, Hamilton purple in the second on the mediums... Hamilton's doesn't improve his overall time while Vettel moves up to second.
11:57 Leclerc on the softs has a scruffy lap after a purple first sector. He moves up to fourth place.
11:55 Magnussen has jumped up to third place on the soft tyres, he is 0.8s down on Hamilton's best. His team-mate Grosjean is reporting an "issue" saying he has " everything, understeer, oversteer, it's like Monza wings".
11:54 Hamilton's first hot lap on the medium tyres is a 1:17.5, three-tenths down on his soft tyre run.
11:50 Hulkenberg is out on the soft tyres and flying. He goes purple in the first sector and green in two and three on his way to third place. Sainz jumped up to fifth.
11:48 Well that rain wasn't actually worth mentioning and we are back to the normal programme.
11:43 The trio pit and Hamilton is now out on track alone. If the drivers do a lap on the inters today, they get a fresh set for tomorrow from Pirelli. But given that the rain is expected to get heavier later today, the drivers are just doing one gentle slow lap.
11:42 Hulkenberg and Perez pit and now it is Magnussen, Stroll and Grosjean doing a lap.
11:39 "Some drops all around the circuit," is the message to Hulkenberg. He is told to do a "very gentle" lap on the inters.
11:38 Lelcerc is back out on track on a set of intermediate tyres but he's the only one. He returns to the pits with Perez and Hulkenberg taking over.
11:34 Rain!
11:31 Another improvement from Gasly and he goes from P4 to P3, but is still six-tenths down on Verstappen.
11:30 Kevin Magnussen is up in sixth place despite running the medium tyres to everyone else's softs. Well everyone else but Romain Grosjean who is also inside the top ten on the yellow tyres.
11:26 And we have a moment for Stroll who has gone off in a spin and returned to the track, right in front of Gasly and compromising his lap.
11:25 Norris makes his mark and now here comes Gasly, so just Russell, Bottas and Giovinazzi.
11:21 Verstappen goes P1, Hamilton retakes it. While Verstappen is fastest in the first sector, Hamilton owns sectors two and three.
11:19 Still no times from Lando Norris, George Russell, Bottas, Gasly and Antonio Giovinazzi.
11:18 Verstappen and Vettel return to the track as the rain begins to fall at Turn 5.
11:14 Clearly Hamilton's brake balance problem isn't a huge one as he has just done a 1:18.077 - half a second up on Verstappen! Vettel goes third, a further tenth down. Verstappen closes the gap to Hamilton by 0.080s and then pits.
11:12 New P1 as Verstappen does a 1:18.629.
11:09 Meanwhile Hamilton is having brake problems and reports inconsistency. He stayed out instead of pitting.
11:08 Whooooo... a late call for Valtteri Bottas to "box, box, box" after Mercedes saw a "misfire". Bottas unfortunately entered on the wrong side of the bollard. That could be a penalty.
11:06 Pierre Gasly has done two laps in a rather well winged RB15. Red Bull have put their Monaco GP front wing back on the car for this weekend.
11:05 Hamilton lowers the benchmark to a 1:19.9 but that is bettered by Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari youngster is 0.3s quicker.
11:03 A 1:30.9 for Kubica... and that is destroyed by Hamilton's 1:20.7.
11:02 Kubica is straight into the action, heading into his second lap. But not everyone is that eager as there is still working going on putting Verstappen's car together. He's in the cockpit but the car is sans wheels, never mind tyres.
11:00 Green light and Williams' Kubica leapfrogs a Renault to take to the track....
10:57 The cloud cover has built up in the last few minutes with the radar saying rain is on its way. Expect a lot of early running as the drivers make the most of a dry track. Track temperature is 35'C.
10:51 Renault will be looking to return to the points this weekend after Daniel Ricciardo's engine let go in Germany and Nico Hulkenberg put his RS19 into the barriers. With Kvyat bagging Toro Rosso's second career podium, Renault have fallen to P6 in the standings, 31 points behind best of the rest McLaren.
10:44 After their German disaster many pundits are predicting Mercedes will bounce this weekend as the Hungaroring's flowing turns should suit their W10. Hamilton won last year and in 2016 while Ferrari's Vettel was triumphant in 2017 and 2015. Red Bull last won in 2014 with Daniel Ricciardo.
10:36 Other notable results last Sunday where a P4 for Lance Stroll, fifth for Carlos Sainz and a sixth for Alexander Albon. Both Haas drivers scored despite banging wheels while Lewis Hamilton and Robert Kubica completed the points. They, however, actually crossed the line 11th and 12th but were promoted up the order when Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi were hit with 30s penalties for irregular clutch settings. Alfa Romeo are appealing.
10:30 Last time out in Germany it was a Max Verstappen win with Sebastian Vettel and Daniil Kvyat joining him on the podium. It was crazy in the rain but this weekend, F1 is in for a dry one - at least for Saturday and Sunday. There are a few drops forecast for this afternoon and evening in Budapest.
07:00 Welcome to the Hungaroring, home of the Hungarian Grand Prix, the final race weekend before F1 enters its summer break. After the madness that was the German GP, F1 could be on course for a quieter weekend given the nature of the circuit. But then again, maybe not. FP1 kicks off at 11am local time.
