01 Sep 16:49 Bottas: "It's a decent result, but the race didn't quite work out exactly how we wanted - Ferrari were very fast on the straights and I didn't have much of a chance to fight for the lead today"
01 Sep 16:49 McLaren's Lando Norris voted driver of the day, despite ending up on the grass on the final lap.
01 Sep 16:47 Hamilton: "I gave it absolutely everything I had... It was a really difficult race today: Ferrari were just too fast on the straights. "Congratulations to Charles for his first win, he's had it coming all year, so I'm really happy for him."
01 Sep 16:45 Leclerc: "On the one a hand a dream I've had since I was a child has been realised, but on the other, it has been a very difficult weekend. I grew up with Anthoine and I want to dedicate my win to him"
01 Sep 16:43 "Difficult to enjoy a weekend like this. But thanks. First, win - a dream come true." Charles Leclerc emotional on his maiden F1 victory.

01 Sep 15:55 Leclerc called to box (come into the pits).
01 Sep 15:54
01 Sep 15:50 Vettel the fastest on track now 1:47.087. He is P4
01 Sep 15:45 Vettel pits and takes on medium compound goes on.
01 Sep 15:44 SportPesa Racing Point's Lance Stroll also pits.
FINISH Having waited so long for a race, we now have another in just a weeks time, as the circus heads to Monza, home of the Prancing Horse. They'll be looking to get their second consecutive win and with their straight-line speed, you'd fancy them to do just that. Join us here from Friday morning for live coverage of the whole race weekend - see you there.
FINISH Well, a tragic weekend ends in a fitting manner, with Charles Leclerc, a friend of Anthoine Hubert, taking his first win and more importantly, every driver finishing the race unharmed. Congratulations to Leclerc on his richly deserved first win, and a shoutout to Sebastian Vettel, who effectively won Ferrari the race when holding Hamilton up for a precious few laps.
FINISH The remaining order was: NOR, MAG, GRO, RIC, RUS, RAI, KUB, GIO, SAI (Ret), VER (Ret).
FINISH Perez finished P6 ahead of Kvyat, Hulkenberg, Gasly and Stroll.
FINISH Norris had some kind of issue on the final lap, moving down from P5 to P11. Albon also passed Perez just before the line, meaning he finishes a career-best P5.
FINISH It was just over a second between Hamilton and Leclerc at the line, and Bottas and Vettel come home P3 and P4 some way behind.
FINISH Charles Leclerc holds off Hamilton to win his first-ever Formula 1 Grand Prix!
Lap 44 Final lap and Hamilton is just over a second behind.
Lap 42 The gap is around two seconds. Surely Leclerc is going to lose out on a victory again?
Lap 42 Leclerc hitting traffic and it's hurting him. Hamilton now less than three seconds behind.
Lap 40 The gap between the top two is now just over four seconds, with four laps to go.
Lap 38 Albon passes his old team-mate Kvyat for P7. He has a pretty hefty gap ahead to Perez though.
Lap 36 Leclerc maintaining a seven-second lead to Hamilton. Not to jinx it, but it looks like he could get his long-overdue first win here.
Lap 35 Albon passes Ricciardo around the outside to move up to P8. Great move in a solid debut for the Thai driver.
Lap 34 Vettel pits for softs.
Lap 34 Elsewhere, Alex Albon is up to P9 having passed Pierre Gasly. He could finish as high as P6 here.
Lap 32 Hamilton passes Vettel in the DRS zone, but he's now nearly seven seconds behind Leclerc. That time bought by Vettel could be crucial come the end of the race.
Lap 31 Vettel doing an excellent job of holding Hamilton off here, giving his team-mate some precious time.
Lap 29 Hamilton is flying. At this rate, he could catch Leclerc, let alone Vettel. He may not be leading, but if Vettel can hold Hamilton up here, he could give his team the win.
Lap 28 Vettel reports that his tyres won't make it to the end as he's rapidly caught by Lewis Hamilton. Presumably, Ferrari will bring him in again.
Lap 27 Vettel does indeed let Leclerc through, and will now need to hold off those pesky silver cars in his mirrors.
Lap 26 Leclerc should be passing Vettel any lap now, assuming the German is smart and lets him through.
Lap 24 Bottas pits and comes out five seconds behind Hamilton, as Leclerc sets the fastest lap of the race.
Lap 23 Mercedes follow suit and bring Hamilton in. He comes out over five seconds behind Leclerc.
Lap 22 Leclerc pits for mediums and as expected comes out behind his team-mate. Over to you, Charles.
Lap 21 Well, Vettel is sure to pass the top three when they all pit, but they'll all have much fresher tyres for the closing stages.
Lap 19 The entire circuit stands and applauds on Lap 19 in honour of Anthoine Hubert, who raced with the number 19. A touching moment for motorsport.
Lap 19 With Vettel's pace at the moment, Leclerc will come out behind him. Hmm.
Lap 18 Mercedes have made an error here, as Vettel has put in some seriously quick laps to ensure he'll stay comfortably ahead of the Brit.
Lap 17 Currently a 45% chance of Hamilton coming out ahead of Vettel, but Mercedes keep him out for now.
Lap 17 Hamilton flying on this lap - this is going to be close.
Lap 16 Vettel comes in to pit for medium tyres. He'll be trying the undercut to pull away from Hamilton.
Lap 14 The midfield runners are starting to pit now, with Hulkenberg and Gasly the first to come in.
Lap 14 Leclerc flying now, building a lead of three seconds. Vettel may be under pressure, but Leclerc is in no such trouble.
Lap 12 As Hamilton hunts down Vettel, Bottas now sets the fastest lap of the race. Mercedes are looking strong here.
Lap 11 Gasly now passes Magnussen. The Frenchman is enjoying life back at Toro Rosso, currently in P8.
Lap 10 Hamilton within DRS range of Vettel.
Lap 10 Perez passes Magnussen and into P7. The Dane has been holding up the midfield for a while now.
Lap 9 Leclerc building a lead to Vettel, with it now surpassing two seconds. Vettel meanwhile, is just over a second clear of Hamilton.
Lap 7 In his first race for Red Bull, Albon is currently sat in P14 in a Reanult sandwich, with Daniel Ricciardo all over the back of him.
Lap 7 Hamilton reporting that Vettel's "not that quick". Well, free to pass him, Lewis.
Lap 5 Leclerc makes an excellent getaway to pull away from Vettel who locks up at Turn 1 and has to fend off Hamilton.
Lap 4 Okay, SC is coming in now. For real this time.
Lap 4 We have our second retirement of the day already, courtesy of Carlos Sainz due to mechanical issues. The Safety Car will stay out.
Lap 3 Safety Car ending.
Lap 3 The top four is as it started, with Norris enjoying an excellent start to move up to P5, ahead of the Haas drivers.
Lap 2 It looks like quite a lot of cars were caught up in the Turn 1 incident. Daniel Ricciardo is pitting alongside Raikkonen and Carlos Sainz.
Lap 1 Max Verstappen is out of the race! The Dutchman retires after contact first with Kimi Raikkonen, and then the barrier. The Safety Car is out.
Lap 1 And we're off! Leclerc gets away well, as does Hamilton who takes Vettel at Turn 1! Only briefly though, as Vettel quickly takes P2 back!
14:10 Formation lap underway. Here we go.
15:03 Wolff: "They (Ferrari) have a big power advantage, so we just have to be clever in the strategy and turn a deficit of our car into victory, like in Budapest."
14:53 A minutes silence is about to be held. RIP, Anthoine Hubert.
14:52 Chase Carey: "It's been a very difficult weekend, our thoughts and prayers are with all of Anthoine's family and friends. The support of the entire community, all the drivers and teams, has been wonderful."
14:43 Quite rightfully, the grid is full of tributes to the late Anthoine Hubert, with many more sure to follow throughout the race. After yesterday's tragic events, let's all just hope for a safe race today. Just under 30 minutes until lights out.
14:37 Many had hoped for rain today to mix things up, but it looks like it'll stay dry. The temperatures will be a lot cooler nonetheless, which is good news for Mercedes.
14:31 The rest of the grid is: NOR, HUL, GAS, RUS, SAI, STR, ALB, GIO, KVY, KUB (Pit-lane).
14:29 Rounding out the top ten is Daniel Ricciardo, who enjoyed an excellent qualifying yesterday, finishing P6. Why he now starts P10 with a FIVE PLACE grid penalty I don't know. Just go with it.
14:21 Behind them, Sergio Perez starts P7, ahead of the Haas boys of Magnussen and Grosjean, all who moved up two places due to grid penalties for the Renaults.
14:19 Max Verstappen starts P5. He believes the Ferraris will be too quick today but is expecting a close fight with the Silver Arrows for a podium, so watch this space. He starts ahead of the King of Spa himself, Kimi Raikkonen.
14:13 Charles Leclerc stormed to pole position yesterday, going a whopping seven-tenths quicker than team-mate Vettel, who struggled with traffic and only just managed to fend off the Mercedes' of Hamilton and Bottas, who start P3 and P4 respectively.
14:00 Well, it's a mild, cloudy afternoon at Spa-Francorchamps, where the Belgian Grand Prix will get underway is just over an hour. Let's go through the starting grid.
13:25 Hello and welcome to the Belgian Grand Prix on what is sure to be an emotional day following the tragic passing of F2 driver Anthoine Hubert on Saturday. He will be very much in mind throughout today's events. Full build-up begins shortly.
15:37 Well, Ferrari look seriously strong here, a long way ahead of the rest. Surely this time they can convert their dominance to a first win of the season, and maybe even a career first for Leclerc? It is Ferrari, so who knows... Join us tomorrow at 8 am local time to see it all unfold.
15:31 LEC, VET, HAM, BOT, VER, RAI, PER, MAG, GRO, NOR, RIC, HUL, GIO, GAS, RUS, KUB, SAI, STR, ALB, KVY. That's my best effort, although with Giovinazzi and Kubica having engine failures, expect them to drop to the back too.
15:20 Right, I'm sure you all want to see the starting grid for tomorrow with penalties applied, so er, I'll give it a go. Wish me luck...
15:18 Meanwhile, Bottas got to within just over a tenth of his team-mate and Vettel, but could do no more. He starts P4 tomorrow ahead of Max Verstappen.
15:15 Nevertheless, it's nowhere near quick enough to get near Leclerc, who takes pole position by seven tenths of a second!
15:15 Hamilton can't improve enough, but Vettel does, taking P2 from the Brit!
15:12 Verstappen leading the group of leaders round, while the midfield pack are further back on track.
15:11 Cars are out for their final laps.
15:09 Red Bull look to be closer to Renault than the front runners, with Verstappen just 0.018s ahead of Ricciardo.
15:09 Leclerc leads Hamilton by over half a second at the moment, with Vettel eight tenths off.
15:07 Q3 is underway, with Leclerc currently leading Hamilton, with Vettel making mistakes and struggling to put a lap together.
15:56 That's that for Q2, with GRO, NOR, STR, ALB and GIO out.
15:55 Hulkenberg improves to get himself out of Q2, pushing Stroll down into the drop zone after Magnussen goes fast enough to take P10.
15:50 The cars are out for their final runs...
15:50 With penalties meaning he'll start at the back anyway, Red Bull have decided not to send Albon out again.
15:47 With just over five minutes to go, those in the drop zone are Hulkenberg, Grosjean, Norris, Albon and Giovinazzi, who is of course not taking part.
15:44 Leclerc goes top with a 1:43.376, just over a tenth ahead of Vettel. Hamilton is only two tenths off.
15:43 Albon the first of the big boys to set a time, and it's only quick enough for P7. Raikkonen currently leads.
15:39 The track is clear and we're underway.
15:36 The start of Q2 has been delayed as the Alfa Romeo of Antonio Giovinazzi is being taken away on the back of a truck.
15:31 It looked like an engine failure for the Italian. It's not just Mercedes having issues of the sort, clearly...
15:30 Our second retirement of the session, courtesy of Antonio Giovinazzi, brings an end to the session. GAS, SAI, KVY, RUS and KUB are out of qualifying.
15:28 Verstappen goes P3 with a 1:44.622. That'll be a relief for him and the team, and the stands.
15:25 Sainz and Kvyat are currently in the drop zone alongside the Williams car and Verstappen.
15:24 Verstappen has now returned to the pits in the hopes of fixing the issue. Five minutes to go here...
15:21 The rest of the grid is setting times though, with Leclerc currently top with a 1:43.587, half a second clear of Vettel and over a second faster than the rest.
15:20 Max Verstappen was going to set the first lap of the day, but he pulled out after reporting a problem. He's stayed out rather than pitting, for now.
15:18 Hamilton is out in what looks like a fully repaired car. Don't break it again, Lewis.
15:17 The session is back up and running.
15:16 While we're waiting for the session to restart, let's run through the penalties this weekend. Carlos Sainz and the Renaults have five-place grid penalties, while Albon, Kvyat and Stroll will start from the back of the grid. Engine changes galore.
15:14 As is so often the case, the Ferrari garage is full of mechanics and an FIA official inspecting Charles Leclerc's car. Not again guys, surely...
15:11 Whether the issues are a cause for concern for them or not, they'll certainly be grateful for the extra time to work on Hamilton's car.
15:08 First Perez, now Kubica. That Mercedes power unit really is looking dodgy this weekend - can it really last nearly 50 laps?
15:07 Robert Kubica has pulled over to the side of the track, with flames pouring out of the back of his car, reminiscent of Perez's issue earlier this weekend. The session has been red flagged due to it.
15:01 We're underway, with George Russell the first man out on track.
14:55 The rest of the pecking order is anybody's guess. You'd think Haas and Alfa Romeo, with the same power unit as Ferrari, would be strong, but so far this weekend it's been Racing Point and Renault who have gatecrashed the top six. Five minutes until lights out.
14:52 Red Bull meanwhile haven't looked too far off the Silver Arrows, much to the delight of the huge Orange Army that has come here to support Max Verstappen. Quite a daunting task for new Red Bull man Alex Albon, going up against not only arguably the best driver on the grid, but thousands of orange-clad fanatics too. Still, he can't do much worse than Gasly...
14:45 Mercedes looked in good shape to pounce on the usual Ferrari mishaps, up until this morning in FP3 where, at the chicane, Lewis Hamilton sent his car hurtling into the barriers. His team have been working hard to fix it ever since, and they should just about have it ready.
14:40 As many had expected, Ferrari seem to be the dominant team here this year, topping every practice session comfortably. A front-row lockout is their's to lose today - can they do it?
14:30 Good afternoon and welcome to coverage of qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix. All times are local.
13:01 Ferrari make it three-from-three with Leclerc ahead of Vettel and Bottas. Ferrari must head into qualifying as the favourites for pole but then again we've said that a few times in the past year and it hasn't worked out. Tune in at 3pm local time for qualifying for the Belgian GP. Cheers.
13:00 The chequered flag falls on FP3...
12:58 This track may be 7km long but that doesn't mean there's not traffic. Verstappen eats dirty as he works his way around a Williams and isn't a happy chap for it.
12:55 Ricciardo is on a hot one and jumps up to fourth place. Looks like Renault's new spec engine has a bit of bite!
12:53 Well now here's something interesting as Gasly has gone P6 in the Toro Rosso. Verstappen improves to fourth but is 1.1s off Leclerc's pace.
12:52 Vettel meanwhile has had a lock up and abandons his lap.
12:51 Leclerc is on a hot one as he looks to snatch P1 from Vettel. He goes purple in the middle sector and jumps ahead with a 1:44.206, 0.451s up!
12:48 There's a mad dash to get in the final five or six laps before the chequered flag is waved. Under F1 rules, practice sessions are not extended for red flags.
12:47 Green light and Leclerc is the first man out on track.
12:45 Race control reports that the session will restart in two minutes.
12:44 The flatbed truck carrying the stricken W10 is making its way into pitlane. Strangely enough it is not covered. And now it is as the Mercedes mechanics quickly do their best to hide the car from prying eyes.
12:41 The red flags are still out...
12:35 That is of course if Mercedes can get the car fixed in time for qualy. They have just over two hours!
12:34 Replays show Hamilton lost the rear end of his W10 into Turn 12 resulting in the off. This could also come with a penalty as his gearbox is likely to have suffered some damage.
12:32 Hamilton is off at Turn 12 with his W10 deep in the barriers. He climbs out with a hand up from a marshal, thankfully seems to be OK.
12:31 Oh no Hamilton is in the barriers! Nose first and the red flag is out. He reports I'm in the wall guys, sorry.
12:29 It looking to be another great session for Racing Point with Perez up to fifth place ahead of the Renault of Ricciardo and Raikkonen. Stroll is P8 with Verstappen having fallen to ninth.
12:27 Bottas jumps up to third place, 0.559s down on Vettel, while Verstappen goes P6 having locked up at the start of his lap. Here comes Hamilton and it is P4. He is 0.909s off Vettel's P1 time.
12:25 Verstappen clocks a 304kph through the speedtrap. Leclerc was 315.
12:24 Bottas, Verstappen and Hamilton have joined the party...
12:23 Problems for Pierre Gasly, and there are a lot of those at the moment. But today's is a loss of rear mirror. The right mirror casing is still there but it is glass-less. He has asked Toro Rosso for help with traffic as he can't see behind him.
12:21 Verstappen's RB15 is still in the garage and supporting what looks like a Monza rear wing. Watch out for his straightline speed!
12:20 Now we are getting somewhere. Times from Romain Grosjean, Kevin Magnussen, Carlos Sainz, Daniil Kvyat, Albon and Kubica with more drivers taking to the circuit. Still no sign of Verstappen nor the Mercedes team-mates.
12:18 Vettel starts his flying lap, and goes purple in the middle sector. He jumps up to first, 0.132s ahead of Leclerc.
12:16 And we have a first lap time, a 1:44.7 for the Monaco driver.
12:13 Oh good action! And is the Ferraris with Leclerc and Vettel taking to the track on the soft Pirellis. Albon is also out.
12:09 It is all quiet out on track as, despite only having an hour of running in this session, the drivers aren't in a rush to head out.
12:07 Perez returns to the Racing Point pits, he also has a new contract in place with the team confirming him on a new three year deal on Friday night.
12:04 Bottas meanwhile is sipping on his coffee. With a new deal now in place many are hoping Bottas 2.0 returns this weekend as the whole contract saga has been resolved. He admitted on Thursday that it had been playing on his mind.
12:03 Doesn't look as if Hamilton will be heading out in the next few minutes as his Mercedes mechanics are working on the rear of the car.
12:01 Lando Norris in the McLaren, another sporting a small injury in the build up to this weekend, is the first man out. His team-mate Carlos Sainz is running Renaults new engine this weekend but Norris is still on the older spec.
12:00 Green light and off we go with FP3...
11:58 Almost time...
11:52 It is another lovely warm day at Spa, no rain forecast.
11:47 Lance Stroll, Daniel Ricciardo and new Red Bull driver Alexander Albon completed the top ten.
11:44 As for Raikkonen, the Finn arrived at Spa nursing a leg injury - the result of sports, not drinking - and was in doubt for the weekend but after coming through Friday's action without any major issues he will continue with Alfa Romeo today.
11:41 Perez's day though wasn't without troubles as he suffered an engine failure meaning his Racing Point RS19 will be fitted with an older spec Mercedes engine from FP3 onwards.
11:39 Lewis Hamilton recovered from his first practice niggles, which included a throttle pedal issue and a lack of telemetry, to finish fourth ahead of Sergio Perez, Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen.
11:36 Friday's action belonged to Ferrari with first Sebastian Vettel and then Charles Leclerc setting the pace. Mercedes were next in line with the newly re-signed Valtteri Bottas P3. He was, however, 0.8s off the pace.
11:30 30 minutes then until the final practice session gets underway...
08:40 Hello and welcome back to Spa for final practice ahead of the all-important qualifying session. Build-up begins at 11:30 local time, 30 minutes before the track light goes green.
16:34 Well, Ferrari are certainly the team to beat and Mercedes have a big task on their hands to deny them. FP3 tomorrow gives them a final chance to find that performance before qualifying, see you then!
16:31 Sainz, Grosjean, Hulkenberg, Kvyat, Norris, Giovinazzi, Gasly, Magnussen, Russell and Kubica complete the order.
16:30 Another one-two for Ferrari with Leclerc ahead of Vettel this time. Bottas, Hamilton, Perez, Verstappen, Raikkonen, Stroll, Ricciardo and Albon the top ten.
16:29 Red flag out now, so that is session over.
16:27 Fire coming out of Perez's Racing Point - not how he wanted to end after such a positive day of running. Problems for the Mexican if that's the new Mercedes PU that has gone up in smoke. VSC out with 4 mins to go.
16:25 Danny Ric pulls an overtake on Raikkonen into the chicane. The Aussie may just have shown one of his cards far too early there.
16:18 The concerns can't be too bad as the Red Bull mechanics pull off a rapid pit stop and send Verstappen back out on the mediums.
16:16 Verstappen reporting the same problems with "power" again over team radio, along with a host of other issues.
16:14 Now that race sim is well and truly in fashion, the top ten is as follows: Leclerc, Vettel, Bottas, Hamilton, Perez, Verstappen, Raikkonen, Stroll, Ricciardo and Albon.
16:12 "There's something burning like crazy at the back of my seat" says a hot and bothered Stroll.
16:09 Hamilton locks up with a loud squeak at the final chicane.
16:07 Haas working on what seems to be the rear suspension of Magnussen's car which is costing him valuable race-sim time.
16:00 30 minutes to go in the session. Race sim has taken over for the drivers.
15:55 Gasly says he has "another guy speaking to me". Poor lad can't get any luck, returns to Toro Rosso and it turns out the STR14 is haunted.
15:51 Perez it has been reported is running a shallower rear wing than what he's expected to use in qualifying - if that is 100% responsible for his blistering pace then we will cry.
15:49 Verstappen can't improve from P6, but his former team-mate Ricciardo can as he promotes himself to P9.
15:45 Not very well is the answer. A 1.45.7 puts him P8, 1.6s off the pace but he is much more geared towards the race than qualifying since he will start from the back.
15:42 Albon sets off on the softs, let's see what he can do.
15:41 Leclerc is flying - he goes P1 some six tenths faster than team-mate Vettel!
15:40 Perez sets a time 0.3s slower than Vettel and 0.1s down on Bottas and Hamilton, all four running the softs. SportPesa Racing Point said their upgrades should put them in the points conversation for the rest of the season and it seems they weren't kidding.
15:38 1:44.753 for Vettel as he makes big gains on the soft rubber, but he didn't set the fastest final sector after going wide at the final chicane.
15:37 Haas have woken up. Grosjean shoots up to P6 but expect many to improve now that the soft rubber has become the compound of choice.
15:34 Russell half a second down on Gasly at the moment, Williams would be happy if that gap remained stable throughout the weekend.
15:31 Perez and Hulkenberg within four tenths of Vettel on the same compound. Unless Ferrari are still running very low engine levels that isn't bad at all.
15:30 "Losing power" says Verstappen. He isn't running the new Spec 4 Honda engine.
15:25 P2 for Verstappen, 0.017s down on Leclerc - the Dutchman means business. Hamilton reports dust coming through his visor and pits.
15:20 Verstappen is finally heading out, also on the medium tyres.
15:19 Mercedes split the Ferraris with their first times on the medium rubber. Hamilton goes P2, two tenths down on Leclerc with Bottas another two tenths back in P3. Game on.
15:18 Nico Hulkenberg goes P5 on the mediums with Daniel Ricciardo P6, both ahead of Albon.
15:15 Perez goes P3, one second down on Leclerc as SportPesa Racing Point carry on with their strong showing from this morning.
15:11 A 1:45.3 for Leclerc, we dare say Ferrari are a bit quick.
15:10 A 1:46.069 from Vettel on the mediums, but Leclerc is going even faster!
15:07 Vettel sets off on his first flying lap of the session. He is running the mediums.
15:06 Kevin Magnussen sets the very early fastest lap - a 1:48.560.
15:02 The Haas' and Russell head straight out.
15:00 On pops the green light, FP2 is underway.
14:56 George Russell will be back in the Williams for this session after Nicholas Latifi took over for FP1 and ended up P19 ahead of Robert Kubica.
14:52 McLaren and Renault got in the mix with Racing Point - hopefully a sign of a three-way battle to come.
14:47 It was Lance Stroll who ended this the morning "best of the rest" in P7, while Sergio Perez teased a strong SportPesa Racing Point package to come in Spa with P9.
14:44 In between those four were the Red Bull's. Max Verstappen was P3 but almost a second down on Vettel, while Alex Albon's first session in a Red Bull saw him get within a tenth of his team-mate.
14:40 Lewis Hamilton had to settle for P6 in FP1 after early issues with the new power unit, he was under a tenth behind team-mate Valtteri Bottas in P5.
14:36 Sebastian Vettel headed a Ferrari one-two in FP1 as the Scuderia sent an early warning to Mercedes and Red Bull.
14:30 Hello and welcome to FP2 coverage here at the Belgian Grand Prix. All times are local.
12:34 Well, Ferrari have put the marker down there, can Red Bull or Mercedes respond? Join us for FP2 where we will find out.
12:32 Hulkenberg, Norris, Raikkonen, Grosjean, Giovinazzi, Magnussen, Kvyat, Gasly, Latifi and Kubica complete the order.
12:30 Vettel fastest in FP1, with Leclerc completing a Ferrari one-two. Verstappen, Albon, Bottas, Hamilton, Stroll, Ricciardo, Perez and Sainz round out the top 10.
12:25 Five minutes to go in FP1.
12:16 Lock ups and trips onto the grass, it has been a rough session for Hamilton.
12:13 In the one-off Williams battle, Latifi is 0.182s up on Kubica, oh Robert.
12:11 Hamilton moves within a tenth of Bottas but P6 is likely still below his expectations.
12:10 Gasly almost four tenths down on Kvyat currently, the Toro Rosso pair are P17 and 18 respectively. Perhaps the real surprise though is SportPesa Racing Point - Stroll holds P7 while Sergio Perez is also flying high in P9.
12:06 P10 for Hamilton.
12:04 Hamilton sets off on a flying lap using the medium compound, he is still without a time in FP1 after his earlier problems.
12:03 Verstappen still 0.9s down on Vettel after his latest flying lap on the softs.
12:02 Welcome to the party Ferrari - Vettel sets a 1:44.574 to take P1 with Leclerc two tenths behind - both have cleared Verstappen by over a second. Bottas still running the mediums is P4 between the Red Bull's.
11:59 Albon improves to a 1:46.0, two tenths down on Verstappen, Red Bull one-two at the moment.
11:57 Sainz jumps up to P2.
11:48 The first half of FP1 gave us very little indication of who is looking quick, little surprise there, but Verstappen has made a positive start.
11:42 The first set of tyres have been handed back so now we wait for the next rush.
11:40 50 mins gone, your top 10 - Verstappen, Ricciardo, Albon, Bottas, Leclerc, Hulkenberg, Vettel, Sainz, Stroll and Perez.
11:39 Leclerc is locking up a fair bit out there.
11:37 Verstappen finds a second on his next soft-tyre run, posting a 1:45.803. Albon improves to P3 but he is still just over a second shy of his team-mate in the early stages.
11:35 VSC period over.
11:32 VSC is out, plenty of debris on the Kemmel Straight. The engine cover has come off the SportPesa Racing Point of Lance Stroll.
11:29 Daniel Ricciardo smashes the fastest time on the softs to go P1 with a 1:46.7 - three tenths faster than Charles Leclerc on the same tyres. Verstappen slots in between the pair.
11:27 Hulkenberg is out on the softs but he goes into P3, two tenths down on Stroll.
11:26 Lance Stroll takes over P1 by 0.091s, running the mediums like Bottas.
11:25 Daniil Kvyat has spun at Turn 1, while reversing across the white line out of the pits he almost collects a Ferrari. Robert Kubica also spins in identical fashion.
11:23 A 1:47.535 from Bottas gives us the first competitive lap of the session.
11:20 Drama - Lewis Hamilton has lost power! The new spec Mercedes engine, which we believe him to be running, briefly gave up the ghost already. "box box box if you can" is the message from the team. He finds power again and makes his way to the garage.
11:18 Lando Norris out on track. There was a scare for him heading into the weekend after he was seen in a leg brace, but McLaren insisted it was only a precaution and it seems they were right. Kimi Raikkonen is the other part of the walking wounded, he will use FP1 as a test of how troublesome his leg injury is.
11:09 28c track temperature at the moment, 19c air temp - but no drivers out on track to experience it right now.
11:07 Nicholas Latifi is in the Williams for this session, taking over from George Russell.
11:05 Most of the grid head out and back in for their installation laps.
11:03 Just an installation lap for the Dutchman as he returns to the pits.
11:02 Verstappen flies out onto the track. The Dutchman is expecting the Spec 4 Honda engine at some point this weekend, but there will be no penalties for him unlike team-mate Albon.
11:00 FP1 is go go go!
10:58 No threat of rain for this session, very little chance in fact for the whole race weekend. Shame.
10:57 Just a few minutes to go now until Formula 1 returns when FP1 goes green in Spa.
10:53 Sebastian Vettel called the media "disrespectful" citing their recent treatment of him, he will be desperate for victory this weekend like he achieved here last season to silence the critics - for now anyway.
10:48 Moving back to where it matters in Formula 1 - the title race, Championship leader Lewis Hamilton looks good for the title, but Max Verstappen is certainly snapping at his heels. FP1 isn't the greatest indicator of true pace, but it should give us an idea of whether Verstappen is in contention for the win this weekend.
10:43 "Silly season" hasn't stopped there either. Valtteri Bottas has been retained by Mercedes for 2020, while Nico Hulkenberg knows his Renault days are numbered with Esteban Ocon replacing him for next season. We look forward to seeing how the pair will react with one's future safe, while the other is fighting for their Formula 1 future.
10:39 We will also get our first look at Alex Albon in the Red Bull who makes his debut this weekend, replacing Pierre Gasly. Sadly, engine penalties mean he will start his first race from the back.
10:34 This session gives us our first look at the teams and drivers after the summer break. Both Mercedes and Ferrari are confident with their challengers here.
10:16
10:15 Hello and welcome to Spa! Formula 1 is back with a Belgium, Italy double header as we hurtle into the second half of the season. The first practice session gets underway at 11am local time.
