13 May 15:35 Alonso running P10 in his home race.
13 May 15:25 Lap 6 and the safety car is ending.
13 May 15:18 A ridiculous chain reaction, glad no one is hurt. Grosjean's cloud of smoke took out Gasly as well.

13 May 15:15 Safety car out on track, what a chaotic start with at least 4 cars involved in the incident.
13 May 15:14 Haas' Grosjean has collided with Nico Hulkenburg. Few cars go off the track!
13 May 15:14 Hamilton leads with Vettel on his tail. Puncture for Vondoorne.

13 May 15:10 Formation lap in progress <3
13 May 15:08 Just a couple mins away, and although the sun is shining on the track right now, there's an 80% chance of rain..
FINISH That is that from us. Thank you for your company today and do join us again in fortnight for the Monaco Grand Prix. Cheers until then.
FINISH It's another 1-2 for Mercedes as Hamilton won it comfortably. Ferrari shot themselves in the foot with a needless stop while Verstappen accepted the gift as he finished P3.
FINISH Ricciardo finishes a lonely P5 and Magnussen an even lonier P6 with Sainz seventh. Alonso, Perez and Leclerc are the final men in the points.
FINISH Hamilton wins the Spanish Grand Prix by 20+s. It's his 41st win from pole position. Bottas takes P2 while Verstappen claims the final podium position.
Lap 66 Leclerc will hold onto the final point here.
Lap 65 Verstappen looks like he has managed to hold onto P3 as he has a 2.3s lead over Vettel with just one lap to go.
Lap 64 Bottas reports that when he is saving fuel, he is losing time and tyre temperature.
Lap 63 Another showoff lap from Ricciardo with a 1:18.441.
Lap 62 Bottas is asked if he is happy to go to the end and he replies: "It will be tough."
Lap 61 If things stay the same, then Hamilton will have a 17-point lead over Vettel in the Drivers' Championship.
Lap 61 Bottas is eight seconds clear of Verstappen as we start to run out of laps.
Lap 60 Looks like Ferrari's decision to pit Vettel under the Virtual Safety Car has backfired and cost the German third place.
Lap 59 Perez finally gets the job done on Leclerc as he moves into ninth place.
Lap 59 Big lock-up from Leclerc as he starts to feel the pressure from Perez.
Lap 58 Verstappen is starting edge closer to Bottas, but the gap is still nine seconds with only eight laps to go. Looks like the Finn has P2 wrapped up.
Lap 57 Remember the debris from Verstappen's car that Perez drove over a couple of laps ago? Well it looks like it is still stuck in his Force India.
Lap 56 Another new lap record of 1:19.093 from Ricciardo. He is in a very lonely P5 as he is 17s behind Vettel.
Lap 55 Bottas' tyres are 34 laps old while Verstappen's is 19 laps old and Vettel's 13. Bottas, though, has a 10s lead over Verstappen with 11 laps to go.
Lap 54 Perez is the last man in the points and he has a nice 13s lead over Stroll in P11 so that should be that. Perez, himself, is within DRS range of Leclerc in ninth place.
Lap 53 Verstappen is told 'good pace Max, really good pace, keep it up'. However, Vettel is now 2.3s off the Red Bull driver. This is shaping up to be a good battle over the final podium place.
Lap 52 A 1:19.147 from Ricciardo is the new fastest lap. He is down in P5 and 16s behind Vettel.
Lap 51 Verstappen looks like he has found some pace again as he is now 2.9s clear of Vettel.
Lap 50 They didn't have the best of starts with Grosjean and Hulkenberg crashing out on lap one, but Haas and Renault are looking at a good haul of points here. Magnussen is P6 and Sainz P7.
Lap 49 Verstappen is told 'there is still a long way to go in this race and you know Bottas has tyre issues'.
Lap 48 Another fastest lap of 19:766 from Hamilton puts him 15s clear of Bottas.
Lap 48 We only have 14 cars remaining after that Vandoorne retirement.
Lap 47 Vandoorne is struggling and he is parking close to the pit lane exit. He tells the team 'I have lost power' and then parks the car.
Lap 47 Hamilton has a 14s lead over Bottas, who is nearly 10 seconds clear of Verstappen. The Red Bull driver is struggling though as Vettel is now within one second of the Dutchman.
Lap 46 Bottas is told about the possible debris on the start-finish straight. New fastest lap of 1:19.944 from the Finn.
Lap 45 Verstappen, who had that loose endplate, is told that 'as long as you are happy with the balance, it's all good'. Replays show that the loose piece came off on the start-finish straight and Perez drove over it.
Lap 44 Here comes Perez on Stroll and there's not much the Williams man could do as the Force India move into P10.
Lap 44 Verstappen has a possible problem as his front wing endplate is loose. Meanwhile, Sirotkin goes off track and he goes into the pits.
Lap 43 Leclerc has been caught napping at the end of the VSC as Alonso powers past the Sauber. Leclerc tried to fight back, but Alonso had too much power.
Lap 43 The Virtual Safety Car period has ended.
Lap 42 It was a slow stop of 5.6s for Vettel as he rejoins behind Verstappen, who is now P3.
Lap 42 The Ferrari pit crew are also out. Vettel is pitting under the Virtual Safety Car, but the two Mercs are staying out.
Lap 42 The Mercedes crew look like they are getting ready for a pit stop. Will it be for Hamilton or Bottas? Or are they bluffing?
Lap 41 The Virtual Safety Car has been deployed.
Lap 41 We have yellow flags in Sector 2. Replays show smoke coming from the back of the car so it was an engine problem.
Lap 41 We have a car on the side of the track. It's the Force India of Ocon.
Lap 40 Alonso within DRS range, but he is not close enough at Turn 1.
Lap 39 Alonso is still stuck behind Leclerc. Sainz has managed to get past Ericsson, but that's because the Sauber driver has pitted.
Lap 38 Bottas is asked for feedback about the tyres should they go to the end. The reply is: 'For the moment it's very consistent, but very unknown.'
Lap 37 Barring any drama, Hamilton is on course to win the Spanish Grand Prix.
Lap 36 So after those stops, Hamilton leads Vettel by 10 seconds while Bottas is another two seconds adrift.
Lap 35 Ocon has a go at Sirotkin, but no way through. They are battling over P15.
Lap 35 Verstappen finally pits as he takes on the medium tyres. He rejoins behind Bottas in third place and ahead of Ricciardo in fifth place.
Lap 34 Ricciardo is the first of the Red Bulls to pit. Verstappen is still holding off Hamilton at the front.
Lap 33 Magnussen pits from P6 and he puts on the medium tyres.
Lap 33 Bottas is told 'just keep your head done, it looks like the Red Bulls are one-stopping'.
Lap 32 So much for the rain, it doesn't look like we will get showers during the race.
Lap 32 Hamilton has caught up with Verstappen, but Christian Horner has warned that 'they won't give him track position'.
Lap 31 The battle of P8 between Ericsson, Sainz, Leclerc and Alonso continue.
Lap 31 Ocon is into the pits, but it's a shocker as the right rear tyre doesn't want to go on. They eventually get the job done, but he has lost plenty of time and he is now at the back of the pack.
Lap 30 Here comes Sainz again, but he's not close enough this time to make a move.Leclerc and Alonso are not too far off this scrap.
Lap 29 Sainz has Ericsson, who is P9, in his sights. He tries to go on the outside, but the Swede muscles the Renault out of the way and keeps the place. Well, at least for now.
Lap 29 Bottas looks to be faster than Vettel, but he is just not getting close enough to the Ferrari to make a move.
Lap 28 Hamilton is flying as he puts in a 1:20.131 on his new medium tyres.
Lap 28 So both Red Bull drivers, Magnussen and Ocon are yet to stop.
Lap 27 Raikkonen has made it back to the pits and they are pushing the car back into the garage. Will we see the crying Kimi Raikkonen fan again?
Lap 26 Leclerc is up to P13 as he gets past the Toro Rosso of Hartley. Sainz pits from P7.
Lap 26 Hamilton pits from the lead and he rejoins behind Verstappen, who is yet to stop.
Lap 25 Well, he is not stopping the car and he is going to try to nurse it back to the pits.
Lap 25 'Nothing, nothing happening' says Raikkonen. 'Stop the car, Kimi.'
Lap 25 Verstappen has managed to get ahead of Raikkonen just as the Finn was about to duck into the pits, but he changes his mind. 'I have an issue' reports Kimi.
Lap 24 Kimi is told 'we need those few laps Kimi. Is that good for you?' The reply is 'yes'.
Lap 24 Verstappen has Raikkonen in his sights with the gap just 1.6s. Ricciardo has dropped off slightly.
Lap 23 Verstappen reports that he is starting to struggle as he runs wide.
Lap 23 Bottas is now flying on the medium tyres as he posts a new lap record of 1:20.402. Will this push Merc to pit Hamilton?
Lap 22 Hamilton reports some rain on his visor.
Lap 22 Bottas manages to get past Magnussen and he is up to P6.
Lap 21 Hamilton's lead over Raikkonen is 15s at the front. He is told to 'sit tight, you are doing a great job'.
Lap 20 It's very tight as Vettel manages to gets past Magnussen just as Bottas rejoined the track after his pit stop. The Finn has settle behind the Haas. So it worked for Ferrari in the end, but it was too close for comfort.
Lap 20 Bottas pits from second for the medium tyres. Will he rejoin ahead of Vettel, who struggled to get past Magnussen?
Lap 19 A 1:21.328 from Hamilton and he is nine seconds clear of Bottas, who has also responded with a couple of good laps since Vettel's pit.
Lap 18 Will Mercedes react to Ferrari's pit stop? Not yet.
Lap 18 Vettel is the first of the front-runners to pit and he rejoins in P7, just behind Magnussen.
Lap 17 The Ferrari crew are out in the pit lane and they have the medium tyres ready to go.
Lap 17 Hamilton is in another league this afternoon as he continues to lap in the low 1:21s while the rest of the front runners are doing high 1:21s and 1:22s.
Lap 16 Vandoorne has caught up with Perez and he will soon have DRS available to him.
Lap 16 The gap between the two Red Bull drivers is now 1.5s. Ricciardo is definitely faster, but Verstappen is fighting back.
Lap 15 Will Red Bull tell Verstappen to move out of the way? Ricciardo is now right on his rear.
Lap 14 Ricciardo has caught up with Verstappen again as the Dutchman's lead is now just over one second over his team-mate. The Aussie is definitely faster and he tells the team 'at this stage I have more pace'.
Lap 13 Alonso asks for a weather update, but he is told it is still quite dry.
Lap 13 Leclerc has managed to get decent gap over Alonso, who is having to fight off Ocon, Stroll and Perez. Looks like Alonso's tyres are gone.
Lap 12 Hamilton is really flying at the front as his lead s now 4.7s over Vettel, who is not really getting away from Bottas, who is 1.1s adrift.
Lap 11 Haas has confirmed that Grosjean has gone to the medical centre for a check-up.
Lap 10 Sainz has been told that they are working on Plan B.
Lap 9 Vandoorne has been given a five-second time penalty for failing to stay left of the bollard at Turn 1.
Lap 9 A new lap record from Hamilton with that 1:21.631 putting him 2.4s clear of Vettel now. That's quite a lap considering it is still early in the race.
Lap 9 And DRS has now been enabled so Sainz should get the job done pretty quickly now.
Lap 8 Still no DRS and it means Sainz can't get past Magnussen, who is P7.
Lap 8 A 1:22.990 sets a new fastest lap and he is 1.4s clear of Vettel. Bottas is within striking range of Vettel.
Lap 7 Leclerc is next up for Alonso, but he's not close enough yet. Ricciardo is struggling as he losing pace behind his team-mate in P5.
Lap 7 Raikkonen is under pressure from Verstappen. Sainz putting pressure on Magnussen. Alonso goes on the outside of Ocon and he gets P10 from the Force India man.
Lap 7 Hamilton goes very slow as he backs up the pack and then he speeds away. Good stuff from Hamilton as he was in clear air by the time they hit the Safety Car line.
Lap 6 Okay the Safety Car will be in at the end of this lap.
Lap 6 The stewards will investigate the first-lap incident after the race.
Lap 5 A forlorn Grosjean has made his way back to the pits. Hamilton reports there is still a lot of debris. Also some feedback from Vettel.
Lap 5 Looks like the Safety Car will be in at the end of this lap.
Lap 4 Sainz has asked that the Safety Car speed it up a bit at the front of the pack as the tyres are going cold.
Lap 4 So Hamilton leads from Vettel, Bottas, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Ricciardo, Sainz, Leclerc and Ocon.
Lap 3 Alain Prost doesn't look too happy in the Renault garage. They are still clearing cars and debris from the track.
Lap 3 Back to Grosjean. He is having a nightmare spell at the moment. He went sliding off to avoid his team-mate Magnussen. He came back on did a 360 and then Hulkenberg and Gasley were taken out.
Lap 2 That was a bit of a mess from Grosjean, but not so much from Vettel as he produced an excellent start to go outside of Bottas and into P2.
Lap 2 Sirotkin was also involved in that crash, but he is still running.
Lap 1 Unsurprisingly the Safety Car has been deployed.
Lap 1 The Haas did a 360 and went back onto the track and Hulkenberg had nowhere to go as he crashed into Grosjean. Gasley is also out.
Lap 1 Cars all over the place at the back as Grosjean is off the track. There's a Renault off as well and it's Hulkenberg.
Lap 1 The lights go out and away we go in Spain. Hamilton has a nice lead over Bottas at Turn 1 and Bottas has lost out as Vettel ducks ahead of the Finn. Raikkonen settles in at P4.
15:11 The softs are the tyre of choice with only Fernando Alonso (supersofts) and Nico Hulkenberg and Marcus Ericsson (mediums) opting for a different compound.
15:10 The lights go green, but of course it is not the start just yet, it's just time for the formation lap. They are all away.
15:05 Okay we have strapped in and are ready to go. The drivers have strapped in as well.
14:58 We have to say the Spanish anthem came just at the right time as the grid walk was a bit of a pain as none of the drivers/guests said anything interesting. Carlos Sainz gave us a weather update, Fernando Alonso was confident and Valtteri Bottas was cool and calm.
14:56 Time for the Spanish national anthem.
14:55 The grid is quite full at the moment. Lots and lots of rich and famous people on the grid. And the drivers of course.
14:51 Brendon Hartley reported some strange vibrations on his way to the grid, but the Toro Rosso crew is confident they have fixed the problem.
14:48 Back to the weather and the clouds are getting a bit darker. Current air temperature is 15ºC while the track temp of 36ºC.
14:43 Looks like most of the front runners will opt for a one-stop strategy.
14:40 And out they go as the pit lane is now officially open. Raikkonen and a few others doing practice starts.
14:36 A look at the tyres and the top three of Hamilton, Bottas and Vettel all have two new sets of medium tyres available along with one new set of softs, one used set of softs and two used sets of supersofts. Raikkonen is the odd man out as he one set of new mediums and two sets of new supersofts.
14:31 The cars have started to fire up in the respective garages. Soon they'll be off to the grid.
14:30 A weather update. It was quite cloudy this morning after quite a bit of rain overnight. It has cleared up somewhat, but there is still an 80% chance of rain during the race. This will be music to the ears of the Mercedes folk as their car performs better in cooler conditions.
14:23 Do you remember the 'crying Kimi Raikkonen kid' from last year? You know the one who spat his dummy out when Raikkonen crashed early on? Well, he's back.
14:20 But then again most teams have upgrades this weekend so it should be an interesting one.
14:16 Nose job! McLaren's new nose has received a lot of attention this weekend and it forms part of their upgraded package. They hope to be closer to the front, but Fernando Alonso insists the top six are still 'in another league'.
14:12 After improving in Baku, Force India are again further down as Esteban Ocon is only P13 and Sergio Perez P15. Brendon Hartley props up the grid as he didn't set a time after a heavy crash in FP3. Oh and Williams' struggles continue with Lance Stroll P18, who had a crash in Q1, and Sergey Sirotkin P19. The Russian was actually faster than the Canadian, but he a three-place penalty from Baku.
14:09 It was yet another good Saturday for Haas with Kevin Magnussen starting P7 and Romain Grosjean P10. Sandwiched in between them are Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz.
14:07 It is an all-Ferrari second row with Sebastian Vettel ahead of Kimi Raikkonen while the Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo occupy the third row.
14:03 Let's get straight into the grid. It was a first pole position of the season for Lewis Hamilton with the Mercedes driver admitting 'I needed that pole' after he clocked 1:16.173 to take P1 ahead of Valtteri Bottas. It's the fifth season in a row that Merc have taken pole in Barcelona.
14:00 Greetings and welcome to our live coverage of the first European race of the 2018 season, the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Cataluyna in Barcelona.
16:08 So the two Mercedes will be on the front row for tomorrow's race. Join us then for our coverage of what promises to be a wonderful Spanish Grand Prix. Thanks for joining us this afternoon.

16:00 Raikkonen goes 2nd on the soft tyres, just 0.12 behind Hamilton. However, the Brit pushes on to a 1:16.1.
15:58 Ricciardo goes quicker on the softs, but remains in 3rd.
15:56 Five minutes to go, and Ricciardo goes out on the soft tyres.
15:54 After the first runs, Hamilton has provisional pole by three tenths of a second, with Verstappen, Ricciardo and Bottas in the top four. Vettel and Raikkonen are split by home favourite Alonso, with Grosjean and Sainz ahead of Magnussen.
15:52 Hamilton puts in a 1:16.4, going purple in all three sectors.
15:51 Grosjean sets the first time, with a 1:18.2, before Ricciardo puts in a 1:16.8.
15:50 A reminder that its Vettel, Raikkonen, Hamilton, Bottas, Verstappen, Ricciardo, Magnussen, Grosjean, Alonso and Sainz battling it out for the top ten positions.
15:50 All ten cars are on track for the first flying runs of the Q3 session.
15:48 The green light is on, and in twelve minutes time, we will know who is on pole for tomorrow's Spanish Grand Prix.
15:48 Sebastian Vettel has taken P1 in both Q1 and Q2, but has never taken pole position in Spain. If he does, it would be four consecutive poles for the German.
15:42 End of Q2: VET RAI BOT HAM VER MAG RIC GRO SAI ALO. The five drivers out are Vandoorne, Gasly, Ocon, Leclerc and Perez.
15:39 The top eight (Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull and Haas) have all set times on soft tyres, while Alonso and Sainz have set their laps on the supersofts.
15:38 Magnussen goes ahead of Ricciardo, into 6th.
15:35 Leclerc goes into 13th with his lap. 5 minutes to go: VET RAI BOT HAM VER RIC MAG GRO ALO SAI Out at the moment: VAN OCO LEC PER GAS
15:33 Alonso goes into 9th with his first flying lap.
15:32 Alonso and Leclerc the two drivers to not post a time in the first half of Q2, with Ocon, Perez and Gasly also in the bottom five.
15:31 Verstappen and Ricciardo go into the top six, with the Dutchman just four tenths behind Vettel. Ricciardo is eight tenths back.
15:30 Hamilton quickest with a 1:17.4, with Bottas then going ahead of his team-mate with a 1:17.4. Then Raikkonen steps in with a 1:17.0, before Vettel drops into the 1:16s and takes P1.
15:28 Grosjean posts the first time of the session, with a 1:18.0, with Kevin Magnussen pipping him by 0.024s
15:28 Looks like everyone wants to start the race on the soft tyres, with every driver coming out on the yellow-striped tyres for Q2.
15:26 The green light is on for Q2, 15 minutes to get into the top ten shootout for the 15 drivers left in the session.
15:20 Vandoorne goes 15th, knocking Hulkenberg out of qualifying. Lance Stroll goes into the gravel between Turn 12 and 13, effectively ending the session.
15:19 Hulkenberg goes 14th, but is the first car over the line to finish Q1. The chequered flag is out for the first session. Ocon then goes 13th, above the Renault driver.
15:16 Hulkenberg returns to the track, with 2:45 left in the session. The five drivers out at the moment would be ERI STR SIR HUL HAR.
15:14 Marcus Ericsson is under investigation for "failing to stay to the left of the bollard" after running wide in Turn 1 earlier in the session.
15:13 Verstappen goes 2nd fastest, despite running wide out of the chicane at the end of the lap, just over three tenths behind Vettel.
15:12 Nico Hulkenberg has an apparent gearbox issue, as he attempted to start his first flying lap. The German could well be out of qualifying if that is the case.
15:11 Fernando Alonso splits the two Red Bulls to slot his McLaren into 6th so far in Q1.
15:11 Vettel goes fastest with a 1:17.0, four tenths quicker than anyone else.
15:10 Max Verstappen goes 5th fastest, ahead of his team-mate. The top five separated by 0.3secs.
15:10 Daniel Ricciardo goes 5th in his first lap, as Marcus Ericsson goes straight on at Turn 1 after locking up his right front.
15:09 Ten minutes left, and its RAI HAM BOT VET MAG GRO ALO LEC OCO GAS the top ten.
15:08 Raikkonen goes fastest in Q1 with a 1:17.4, with Hamilton going 2nd, two tenths behind.
15:07 Fernando Alonso goes 3rd on the medium tyres, ahead of the two Haas cars.
15:05 Sebastian Vettel puts in a 1:17.8 to go fastest, with Raikkonen just two tenths behind.
15:04 Lance Stroll puts the first time on the board, with a 1:20.6.
15:01 The two Williams and two Ferraris are the first few cars on track, in a slow opening to Q1.
15:00 The green light is on, and qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix is underway! 19 cars will take to the track, with Brendon Hartley sitting out after his big crash this morning.
14:58 Conditions are much colder than they were this morning, and yesterday. Track temperature is just 27C, and there is a chance of rain in Spain.
14:54 Max Verstappen's car is still without a front end, as Red Bull have found, and fixed, the electrical problem that plagued him during FP3.
14:49 Mercedes have taken pole in Spain for the last four years, with Hamilton starting from the front in 2014, 2016 and 2017. Nico Rosberg took pole in 2015. The Silver Arrows will be looking to make it five in a row in Spain this afternoon.
14:45 FP3 saw the two Mercedes just 0.017s apart, with Lewis Hamilton just getting the #1 spot ahead of Valtteri Bottas. The two Ferraris were within three tenths with Daniel Ricciardo seven tenths back, in 5th.
14:39 Hartley may have been given the all clear to race tomorrow, but he won't be taking part in qualifying this afternoon. The Kiwi will start from either the pit lane, or the back of the grid, come Sunday afternoon.
14:35 Mercedes have topped the timesheets in all three practice sessions, with Lewis Hamilton on top in FP3 this morning. Can the Mercedes take pole position? Or will Sebastian Vettel take his fourth pole in a row?
14:30 It's Saturday afternoon, and that means Qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix is almost upon us. Brendon Hartley has been given the okay to race after his big crash in FP3, with the first 18 minutes coming in half an hour's time.
13:01 Good news is Hartley is okay but Toro Rosso have a lot of work to do before qualifying. That's in two hours, join us then. Cheers.
13:00 Session over for Hartley and everyone else with Hamilton P1.
12:59 He has slammed into the barrier at Turn 9 after kicking up dirt on his way into the corner as he ran a bit wide. That's literally all it took before he spun and hit the wall backwards.
12:58 Big crash for Hartley, who is out of the session and the session has in fact been red flagged.
12:57 Traffic moment between Sainz and Vettel with an apology from the Ferrari driver.
12:55 Five minutes remaining in FP3...
12:53 We have another off for Grosjean, who asked 'what the beep' as he gets caught out in traffic.
12:52 If this was qualifying the drop zone drivers would be Leclerc, Gasly, Ericsson and the Sauber drivers.
12:48 Red Bull are hard at work on Verstappen's car with reports claiming they are changing the floor. Horner confirms this, saying it could be an "electrical issue on the engine side."
12:45 Hamilton has had an off at Turn 1 but makes his way around the bollards in the correct order so no worries for him.
12:44 Bottas is second, 0.150s down, with Vettel third, 0.269s off the pace. Both drivers are also below the previous lap record.
12:42 And now it is Hamilton with a 1:17.281. Also on new supersofts.
12:41 And now it is Bottas on the supersofts and a new P1 with a 1:17.431.
12:40 New P1 as Vettel goes quickest on a new set of supersoft tyres, a 1:17.604.
12:38 Stroll is in the gravel at Turn 4 but works his way out and continues on his way.
12:34 Alonso and Vandoorne are P10 and 11 in their extremely updated MCL32.
12:33 Verstappen is under investigation for passing a bollard on the wrong side. It's a safety thing.
12:30 No surprise as Romain Grosjean isn't entirely happy with his car but calmly tells the team that he's having trouble with braking but doesn't have the same amount of rear locking as what he had on Friday. Grosjean is P6.
12:29 Again not a good day for Williams with Sergey Sirotkin and Lance Stroll the slowest two drivers out on track.
12:25 Another medium lap for Ricciardo and he returns to fifth place. Verstappen has gone seventh.
12:24 A P1 for Hamilton again with a 1:17.844.
12:23 Rumours in the Catalunya paddock are that Ferrari's wings on the mirror on the Halo (yip, it is confusing) will be banned. This could be their first, last and only race.
12:21 We've yet t see Verstappen this morning but Christian Horner says that is more to do with saving engine mileage than a problem with the car. His team-mate Ricciardo has gone fifth.
12:20 Bottas just just pipped Hamilton but only by 0.031s as Carlos Sainz is a happier Renault driver. He reports that his car has better balance than Friday.
12:18 Interestingly Red Bull have set Ricciardo out on the mediums so it is Ferrari's supersofts versus Mercedes' softs versus Red Bull's mediums.
12:17 Here comes Raikkonen now, purple in the first sector and he goes third fastest... make that fourth as Hamilton has just gone quickest. Again down in the first two sectors but quickest in the third. He did a 1:18.112 on the soft tyres.
12:16 Vettel is out on the supersoft tyres but he is lacking pace compared to Bottas in the first two sectors but goes purple in the third and takes the lead by 0.17s.
12:15 Bottas is on a flier, purple in all three sectors on his way to a 1:18.5.
12:13 Bottas has left the Mercedes garage to start his first run of the day. Raikkonen, Vettel and Pierre Gasly are also out on track. Sainz and Hamilton are the next out.
12:10 Hartley has lowered the benchmark time to a 1:20.073 but that's still the only time on the board.
12:10 Hartley has lowered the benchmark time to a 1:20.073 but that's still the only time on the board.
12:08 Ricciardo is having a moment, and a rather weird one at that. He is standing in the pits outside his car with an elastic around his head as he works his neck muscles. Not something you often see during a session.
12:07 Hartley goes purple, purple and purple on his way to a 1:20.486. Purple because that was the day's first lap time.
12:05 Hulkenberg tells Renault that was a "good one"... and given that he doesn't have a time on the board that was likely referring to a moment out on track.
12:02 First lap for Raikkonen and his new engine completed.
12:01 No messing around as Marcus Ericsson leads out the field for installation laps ahead of Charles Leclerc and Alonso.
12:00 Green light and off we go...
11:52 The track temperature is up to 35'C as we await the start of FP3.
11:46 A quick look at the championship and Hamilton is leading by four points ahead of Sebastian Vettel with Valtteri Bottas third and Kimi Raikkonen fourth. Daniel Ricciardo, Fernando Alonso, Nico Hulkenberg, Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz complete the top ten in the standings.
11:42 The wind caused havoc on Friday with several drivers flying off the circuit, most notably Daniel Ricciardo in FP1 and Romain Grosjean in second practice.
11:37 Speaking of Raikkonen, the Finn's SF71H has a new engine for the rest of this weekend after a puff of smoke curtailed his running on Friday. The Scuderia have billed it as a "precautionary" engine change.
11:36 Friday's practices belonged to Mercedes with Valtteri Bottas quickest in FP1 and Lewis Hamilton setting the pace in the afternoon. The Brit, though, believes Ferrari were sandbagging with Sebastian Vettel 0.3s off the pace while Kimi Raikkonen was almost 0.6 down. "Not really quite sure where Ferrari’s pace was today, but they’re probably sandbagging or something. They’ll bring it out tomorrow.," said the Mercedes driver.
11:30 Welcome back to the Circuit de Catalunya for the third and final practice for the Spanish Grand Prix.
