Lap 1 Hulkenberg has to wait in the car as the marshals flip his car. Meanwhile, Brendon Hartley comes into the pit lane for a new front wing and a change of tyres.

START Max Verstappen drops down to P10, as the top five get away well.
17:12 "We will give it all. Very proud of you," says Fernando Alonso on the team radio ahead of his final race. Get the tissues out, the tears are starting already...
17:10 The top five are on the (US) tyres, with Verstappen and those below him in the top ten on the (HS) tyres. Sainz (US), Ericsson (SS), Magnussen (SS), Perez (US), Alonso (US), Hartley (US), Gasly (SS), Vandoorne (SS), Sirotkin (SS), Stroll (SS).
17:08 A reminder of the grid before we start. Hamilton, Bottas, Vettel, Raikkonen, Ricciardo, Verstappen, Grosjean, Leclerc, Ocon, Hulkenberg, Sainz, Ericsson, Magnussen, Perez, Alonso, Hartley, Gasly, Vandoorne, Sirotkin, Stroll.
17:05 A reminder of the three tyres available for this grand prix. The pink-striped hypersofts (HS) are the softest, with the purple ultrasofts (US) and the red-striped supersofts (SS) also here in Abu Dhabi. It looks to be a one-stop race for those starting on the purple tyres. For those on the HS, it could turn into a two stop race.
17:03 It looks set to be a perfect evening under the lights. No rain is forecast over the next two hours in Abu Dhabi.
16:58 Carlos Sainz's Renault has had an issue with the pneumatic sensors on it, while Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes has needed a slight repair on the grid.
16:56 Toro Rosso (33) sit in P9, and could also challenge Sauber for that eighth spot, but will need a small miracle starting from P16 and P17 on the grid today. Williams have just seven points and will want to forget this season as quickly as possible.
16:54 McLaren (62) currently sit in P6, but Force India (48) could leap frog them into that sixth position. Sauber (42) could also get in front of the Pink Panthers with a good race today.
16:52 In the Constructors', Mercedes has wrapped it up with 620 points. Ferrari (553), Red Bull (392), Renault (114) and Haas (90) will stay where they are in Abu Dhabi.
16:50 The four men in single figures are Marcus Ericsson (9), Lance Stroll (6), Brendon Hartley (4) and Sergey Sirotkin (1).
16:48 Romain Grosjean (35) sits in P13, ahead of Charles Leclerc (33) and Pierre Gasly (29), with Stoffel Vandoorne (12) the only other man in double figures this year.
16:46 Kevin Magnussen (P9, 55pts), Fernando Alonso (P10, 50), Esteban Ocon (P11, 49) and Carlos Sainz (P12, 45) are all battling for those last two positions in the top ten.
16:44 Hulkenberg has an 11 point lead in the race for the Formula 1.5 title. That would mean that Sergio Perez (58) would need a P4 finish in Abu Dhabi to take the title off him.
16:42 Daniel Ricciardo sits in a world of his own on 158 points, with his future team-mate Nico Hulkenberg almost secured as the best of the rest in P7. The German has 69 points this year.
16:40 Kimi Raikkonen currently sits in P3 with 251 points. Both Valtteri Bottas (237) and Max Verstappen (234) could both catch the Ferrari man.
16:37 We know that the top two drivers are staying where they are, with Lewis Hamilton winning the Championship from Sebastian Vettel. However, there are battles further down the field.
16:35 Into the Championship standings then, and for the first time in F1 history, every single driver has scored a point this season.
16:31 The back row sees a familiar story of two struggling Williams. Sergey Sirotkin out qualified team-mate Lance Stroll in his last race in F1, while the Canadian will (probably) move to Force India for 2019. They line up in P19 and P20.
16:28 Pierre Gasly had engine issues in qualifying, but has not needed to change the Honda power unit in the back of his car, and therefore he starts from P17. The second McLaren of Stoffel Vandoorne, also in his last race in F1, starts alongside him on the ninth row.
16:26 Fernando Alonso starts his final race in Formula 1 from P15, with Brendon Hartley also possibly starting his last race this weekend. He lines up in P16.
16:23 Kevin Magnussen and Sergio Perez line up on the seventh row, as the second cars in their team after good performances from their team-mates.
16:19 The first man with a free tyre choice for the Abu Dhabi GP is the Renault of Carlos Sainz. He starts in P11, with Marcus Ericsson alongside him in the second Sauber.
16:16 Esteban Ocon lines up in P9 in his final race before his 'sabbatical' from the sport. Nico Hulkenberg will start alongside him on the fifth row, and rounds out the top ten.
16:13 Romain Grosjean qualified as the best of the rest, and will start from P7 in the Haas. Charles Leclerc will line up alongside him in his final race for Sauber before he moves to Ferrari in the offseason.
16:10 The two Red Bulls follow in behind after a disappointing qualifying. Daniel Ricciardo will start in P5, with Max Verstappen in P6. However, the Dutchman is the only man in the top six that will start on the hypersoft tyres (HS), while the top three start on the ultrasofts (US).
16:07 The two Ferraris follow behind the Silver Arrows. Sebastian Vettel will line up in P3, with Kimi Raikkonen alongside him.
16:05 Lewis Hamilton secured the 83rd pole position of his career in qualifying yesterday, and Valtteri Bottas made it a Mercedes front-row lockout for the fifth consecutive year in Abu Dhabi (the first time that feat has been achieved by one team).
16:02 The big surprise for this race is that there has not been a single grid penalty after qualifying. The grid is as it was last night, so let's take a look at it.
16:00 Hello and welcome to our coverage of the season finale! The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix starts in an hour and ten minutes, with all times shown as local.

18:00 Grosjean stays in P7, Ocon goes into P8.
17:59 Here we go, for the final time this year...!!
17:57 Max Verstappen now exits the pit lane, with the two Ferraris the last men out on the circuit.
17:57 Seven of the ten cars are out on track with 2:40 to go.
17:55 Grosjean is best of the rest, four tenths clear of Nico Hulkenberg's Renault. Charles Leclerc is P9 ahead of Esteban Ocon.
17:54 Just three tenths covers the top six. Hamilton Vettel Bottas Ricciardo Raikkonen Verstappen as it stands.
17:53 Vettel goes P2, less than a tenth between himself and Hamilton.
17:53 Purple for Danny Ric through Sector 3, he goes P3.
17:53 Valtteri Bottas goes P2, a tenth behind the Brit's new track record.
17:52 A 1:35.2 from Lewis Hamilton!
17:51 Romain Grosjean puts in the first lap, a 1:36.1.
17:47 So, will this be a straight fight between the top six? Who will finish best of the rest? We will find out shortly in Q3!
17:43 Hamilton (US), Verstappen (HS), Vettel (US), Bottas (US), Leclerc (HS), Hulkenberg (HS), Grosjean (HS), Raikkonen (US), Ocon (HS), Ricciardo (US) are the ten men through to the shootout.
17:42 END OF Q2 Drivers Out: Sainz, Ericsson, Magnussen, Perez, Alonso
17:41 Max Verstappen has had to go on the (HS) tyres, and he goes P2.
17:40 Leclerc, Hulkenberg and Grosjean all go ahead of the Ferraris.
17:39 Charles Leclerc has gone purple in the first sector once again!
17:38 The big six have used the (US) on their quickest laps so far, as have the two Force Indias. The other seven drivers have gone with the (HS).
17:37 Will Ferrari and Red Bull go back out on the (US) or will they have to choose the (HS)?
17:34 "That was really s***" Pretty simple analysis from Max on his own lap.
17:33 Max Verstappen can only go P10 on the (US).
17:31 No-one can get within seven tenths of Hamilton's time. What a lap from the World Champ!
17:29 Hamilton puts in a 1:35.6, a new track record! WOW!
17:28 Lewis Hamilton will put in the first lap of this session.
17:27 Both Force Indias have gone out on the (US) tyres. That is a big surprise!
17:25 Will we see those top six try and go out on the (US) tyres to prepare for the race?
17:24 So Ferrari and Mercedes were up there, with Red Bull right behind, this could be close! But first comes Q2.
17:22 Fernando Alonso whitewashes Stoffel Vandoorne in qualifying in 2018... The last man to do so.. Fernando Alonso against Nelson Piquet in 2008.
17:20 Pierre Gasly lost power as he crossed the line and therefore he dropped out of the session by just a couple of tenths.
17:20 END OF Q1 Drivers Out: Hartley, Gasly, Vandoorne, Sirotkin, Stroll
17:18 Ocon goes P4. Leclerc into P7. Ericsson into P11.

17:11 Romain Grosjean finishes that lap in P7, just eight tenths behind Vettel's Ferrari.
17:11 The two Red Bulls come through, with Daniel Ricciardo in P4, Max Verstappen P5.
17:10 Romain Grosjean has just gone purple in the first sector of his first flying lap.
17:09 The two Mercedes slot into P3 and P4, with both Hamilton and Bottas within four tenths of the two Ferraris.
17:08 Seb Vettel moves into the 36s to take P1 so far in this session.
17:05 Kimi Raikkonen puts in a 1:37.0 to go quickest by 1.6s.
17:04 Both Toro Rossos move in front of Leclerc's Sauber.
17:03 Charles Leclerc puts in a 1:38.9 to set the first time.
17:01 Both McLarens, Toro Rossos and Saubers are out early on in Q1.
16:58 A reminder of the three tyre compounds for this weekend. The red supersofts (SS), the purple ultrasofts (US) and the pink hypersofts (HS).
16:57 As the sun sets, the temperatures will drop this evening and getting the tyres working at the right time will be crucial for that pole position lap.
16:55 Can Ferrari bounce back from their typical Friday pace to score a pole position in Abu Dhabi on Saturday? Or can Red Bull continue their good run at the end of this season?
16:53 So will Mercedes take a fifth straight pole to go with their five straight Championships?
16:48 Mercedes have taken pole position at the last four Abu Dhabi GPs, with both Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton having taken the front spot in the last two years.
16:46 Further down the grid, Charles Leclerc had a moment during the session which saw him rip the rear wing off his Sauber. That ended his FP3 early.
16:43 Romain Grosjean was the best of the rest this morning, ahead of the two Renaults of Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz. Esteban Ocon pipped his Force India team-mate to round out the top ten.
16:40 Valtteri Bottas could only manage P5 this morning, with Daniel Ricciardo the last of the top six, but his Red Bull broke down during FP3.
16:36 The Brit put in a 1:37.1 this morning to be quickest in the final practice session of the season, ahead of the two Ferraris and Max Verstappen.
16:33 This is the final qualifying of the season, and Lewis Hamilton will be the favourite to take pole after a blistering lap in FP3 this morning.
16:30 Hell and welcome to our coverage of qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final race of the 2018 Formula 1 World Championship. The session gets underway in half an hour's time, with all times shown as local.
15:02 That's it for now, join us again in two hours for qualifying. Cheers.
15:01 The session ends with a P1 for Hamilton, a walk back to the pits for Ricciardo and minor contact between Grosjean and Gasly that leaves a piece of the Toro Rosso lying on the track.
15:00 Chequered flag is out on FP3.
14:56 Oops, problem for Ricciardo as he has come to a halt out on track between Turns 9 and 10. Doesn't sound like the engine or electronics.
14:51 Hot laps in and it is Hamilton ahead of Raikkonen, Vettel, Verstappen, Bottas and Ricciardo making up the top six. Best of the result currently belongs to Perez with Alonso, Hartley and Ericsson making up the top ten.
14:45 Raikkonen goes second, 0.288s slower than Hamilton.
14:43 But, wow, Hamilton has beaten him. The Mercedes driver clocked a 1:37.176 to go 0.411s faster than Vettel.
14:42 Vettel is out on a new set of the hypersoft Pirellis and he is flying. Purple in the first, second and third sectors and he takes a full second off his time. It's a 1:37.587 for the German!
14:37 Ocon has yet to set at time with reports suggesting a power unit issue is keeping him in the pits.
14:36 Hamilton ups his pace but only as far as second. He is 0.364s slower than Vettel. Verstappen, after a few complaints about his battery, fails to improve on his latest lap and is now third.
14:34 Raikkonen is under investigation for an earlier incident where he got it wrong, went partially down pit lane and then rejoined the track. He can expect a reprimand for that.
14:33 Hamilton has joined the list of those riding the Turn 20 kerb. Great form!
14:30 Halfway through the session it is Vettel, Verstappen, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Bottas, Ricciardo, Gasly, Hartley, Leclerc and Grosjean. No time yet from Ocon.
14:27 Verstappen takes second place off Hamilton. He is 0.418s down on Vettel's best.
14:24 And another moment for Raikkonen, who tells Ferrari he "ran wide at the last corner."
14:21 Problems for Leclerc as he gets it wrong at Turn 18, puts dirt on his tyres and rear ends the barrier at Turn 19.
14:18 Hamilton and Bottas leave the pits along with Alonso, Gasly, Perez and Hartley.
14:16 Another lap, another moment for Raikkonen as Vettel joins the action. He is also running the hypersoft tyres and goes fastest with a 1:38.668.
14:13 Running the hypers, he's takes to the top of the timesheets with a 1:39.314.
14:08 Raikkonen has come out to play but gets it all wrong at Turn 9 and has to back off. He's some 20s off the pace.
14:05 Unfortunately Siroktin met the Turn 20 kerb at pace and he has now asked Williams to check that the "floor is okay." Chances are, it's not as that was quite a ride.
14:04 Quickly into the action, Sirotkin lays down the day's first lap time with a 1:42.5.
14:02 The track temperature is up to 42'C and the air temperature is 31 as Ericsson leads out the field followed by Gasly, Grosjean, Vandoorne and Alonso.
14:00 Green light and off we go...
13:55 If you have forgotten, this is the final F1 practice session for Fernando Alonso, Stoffel Vandoorne, Sergey Sirotkin and likely Brendon Hartley too.
13:46 News just in this afternoon: Haas have failed in their protest against Force India, the stewards declaring that the latter satisfied the definition of a â??constructorâ?. Haas protested Force India running the VJM11, saying it carried more than just the listed parts as it was designed by former team Sahara Force India. Haas have yet to comment.
13:39 And the bottom half: 11 Pierre Gasly Toro Rosso 1.27s; 12 Carlos Sainz Renault 1.275s; 13 Fernando Alonso McLaren 1.489s; 14 Sergio Perez Force India 1.57s; 15 Charles Leclerc Sauber 1.595s; 16 Brendon Hartley Toro Rosso 1.721s; 17 Marcus Ericsson Sauber 2.266s; 18 Stoffel Vandoorne McLaren 2.702s; 19 Lance Stroll Williams 2.81s; 20 Sergey Sirotkin Williams 3.699s
13:37 Friday's top ten: 1 Valtteri Bottas Mercedes 1:37.236; 2 Max Verstappen Red Bull 0.044s; 3 Daniel Ricciardo Red Bull 0.192s; 4 Lewis Hamilton Mercedes 0.207s; 5 Kimi Raikkonen Ferrari 0.225s; 6 Sebastian Vettel Ferrari 0.333s; 7 Romain Grosjean Haas 0.824s; 8 Nico Hulkenberg Renault 0.994s; 9 Kevin Magnussen Haas 1.082s; 10 Esteban Ocon Force India 1.166s
13:36 While Red Bull set the pace in Friday's first practice, Max Verstappen ahead of Daniel Ricciardo, it was Valtteri Bottas who came to the fore on Friday night as the defending Abu Dhabi GP winner clocked a 1:37.236 to beat Verstappen by 0.044s.
13:30 Welcome back to the Yas Marina circuit for the third and final practice session of the Abu Dhabi GP. And the final practice of the 2018 season. All times are local.
18:35 That is all from us for the second practice session in Abu Dhabi. Join us tomorrow for the third and final session before qualifying in the afternoon on Saturday. See you then. Cheers.
18:33 Lewis Hamilton and the two Ferraris were also within just three tenths of Bottas, which could give us a close qualifying session tomorrow afternoon.
18:33 Valtteri Bottas leads the way in FP2 ahead of the two Red Bulls, but the RB14 looks good on the long runs on the (HS).
18:25 MOVEMENT ON THE TIME SHEETS! Stoffel Vandoorne moves up to P18 as he goes for another qualifying run. That means it will be the two Williams at the back come the end of FP2.
18:20 Red Bull seem to have the long run pace on the (HS) tyres. Max Verstappen averaged 1:43.8 over his eight laps on the pink tyre, while the two Ferraris and two Mercedes could only manage five laps on their efforts.
18:14 All 20 cars are out on track now on the long runs.
18:08 "Rear tyres have the capacity to help the fronts," says Sergio Perez's engineer. The front tyres are the ones to worry about in Abu Dhabi.
17:49 Charles Leclerc flies over the sausage kerb on the way off and the way back on to the track at Turn 20. He reports some damage to his Sauber.
17:44 Despite a purple final sector for Daniel Ricciardo, he can only slot into P6, five tenths behind.
17:38 Both Bottas and Hamilton go quicker! Bottas puts in a 1:37.2, with Hamilton two tenths behind.
17:33 Sebastian Vettel goes P2, just a tenth behind Kimi Raikkonen.
17:27 Ricciardo has just gone fastest with a 1:38.582, just pipping ahead of Bottas.
17:20 Max Verstappen got beached on THAT sausage kerb at the exit of the penultimate kerb and had to go into the pits as it has caused damage to the floor of his RB14.
17:13 Valtteri Bottas moves into the 1:38s, seven tenths clear of Lewis Hamilton and the two Ferraris.
17:12 Nico Hulkenberg goes fastest! The German puts in a 1:40.170 in his Renault. Team-mate Carlos Sainz goes P5.
17:08 Raikkonen goes quickest with a 1:40.224 (SS), with Vettel just 0.05s behind the Finn.
17:05 Lance Stroll puts in the first lap with a 1:41.081 (HS).
16:30 Hello and welcome to our coverage of the final FP2 session of the season. Yas Marina is the circuit, Abu Dhabi is the grand prix, and we have 90 minutes of action coming up. The session starts in half an hour with all times shown being local time.
14:30 And there is the checkered flag. It's a Red Bull 1-2 to kick off proceedings in Abu Dhabi. Mercedes are the closest competitors at this stage with Ferrari having their usual low-key start. Join us again in a couple of hours for FP2.
14:28 Couple of minutes left in the session...
14:23 A bit of late drama in the garages as drivers continue to work through their long runs. Gasly's car is smoking like a chimney and promptly hops out of his Toro Rosso.
14:16 Alonso, currently bogged down in P19, becomes the latest victim of the sausage kerb at Turn 20. He was improving on his lap time before being forced to abort.
14:10 Ricciardo pumps in a decent lap on some fresh hypersofts and with a session-best final sector time to boot. He climbs to within four tenths off current leader Verstappen.
14:05 Raikkonen and Vettel are back out on some fresh supersofts. They are currently P7 and P8 respectively on the timesheet.
14:00 Verstappen goes for a little bit of Tokyo drifting through the complex before the long back straight. Close one! Bottas, though, puts a cleaner lap together on the supersofts to go nine tenths behind the Dutchman.
13:56 Verstappen has remained on the hypersofts and takes a big chunk out of his previous best. He posts a 1:38.491 and is now over a second quicker than his nearest rival.
13:53 Hamilton has a scruffy first lap on the ultrasofts. Bottas, meanwhile, also runs wide again on the supers after setting another fastest first sector.
13:48 Mercedes are amongst those re-emerging from the garage now. Bottas gets it all wrong shortly after setting the fastest first sector and almost clips the barrier. He just about rescues the situation.
13:42 Stoffel Vandoorne is the only driver yet to set a time. Robert Kubica is down in P19 but, don't be too alarmed at the slow pace, he is running some funky experiment programmes according to Williams.
13:40 We are now getting to that mid-session lull where the first set of tyres are handed back. A quick run through of the current top 10: VER, HAM, RIC, BOT, RAI, VET, OCO, PER, SAI, GIO.
13:37 We have our first spinner...and it's Marcus Ericsson at the first corner. He has picked up some big front wing damage by going into the barrier, but the rest of the car looks to be ok.
13:33 And Verstappen now shaves two tenths off Hamilton's best after his next hypersoft lap. He too found that pesky sausage kerb at Turn 20.
13:31 Hamilton improves slightly on his latest run - a 1:39.576 the new benchmark.
13:29 Ricciardo slots into P2 following his first attack. He is within 0.082 seconds of the five-time World Champ.
13:25 Hamilton, who is running the number 1 on the nose of his car in this session, is the first driver into the 1:39 barrier. Bottas gets within a tenth of him on his first hot lap on the hypers.
13:24 Sainz is the first to take the bumpy route over the newly-installed sausage kerbs at Turn 20. He won't be wanting to do that again in a hurry.
13:23 Thankfully the track is getting busy now. Sainz and Bottas with times on the board so far...
13:19 Not an awful lot is going to be learned in this session in the afternoon heat. Qualifying and the race itself will be run in the evening.
13:13 All very quiet out there at the moment. Stoffel Vandoorne the only driver out on track.
13:05 Install laps currently taking place with no dramas so far. Raikkonen running with some aero rakes as he tests out what looks like a 2019-spec front wing.
13:00 Green light! FP1 is underway. We are in the desert, so will let you have a guess what the weather is like at the Yas Marina circuit.
12:55 The other 2019 driver getting some more experience this afternoon is Antonio Giovinazzi in the Sauber. He replaces Charles Leclerc.
12:50 A certain Robert Kubica will be driving in this session. You may have a seen a story or two about him yesterday after being unveiled as a Williams driver for the 2019 season.
12:45 But before we start crying on Sunday, there is the rest of the weekend to get stuck into first. FP1 starts in 15 minutes' time.
12:40 It's Kimi Raikkonen's last race for Ferrari, Daniel Ricciardo's last race for Red Bull, Charles Leclerc last race for Sauber, Fernando Alonso's last race in Formula 1 amongst plenty of other sub-plots in Abu Dhabi.
12:35 So, after 20 races this season, we have reached the finale. Both World Championships have been sewn up courtesy of Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes respectively. Yet this will be a race weekend of 'lasts'.
12:30 Welcome to the Yas Marina circuit, the venue for the final grand prix of the 2018 Formula 1 World Championship, the Abu Dhabi GP. All times are local.
