11 Jun 21:50 Lewis Hamilton led a superb Mercedes one-two victory at the 2017 Canadian GP. Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel will have choice words with Red Bull's Max Verstappen...
11 Jun 21:40 Hamilton takes the win! What a race! What intensity!
11 Jun 21:35 Final lap. Surely the win will go to Hamilton.
11 Jun 21:35 Vettel takes fourth place. He "took care" off both Force Indias.
11 Jun 21:28 Vettel is right behind the Force India's. Can he take third place from Ocon, Perez and Ricciardo?
11 Jun 21:27 Raikkonen complaining about brake issues. He's losing almost 5sec per lap because of it.
11 Jun 21:24 Was that a mistake by Raikkonen or a team order?
11 Jun 21:24 Vettel passes Raikkonen!
11 Jun 21:22 Both Force India drivers are on the verge of overtaking Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo.
11 Jun 21:21 Daniil Kvyat retires.
11 Jun 21:20 Sebastian Vettel is chasing down team mate Kimi Raikkonen and the both of them are pushing towards the Force India's.
11 Jun 21:10 Christian Horner: "I'm more worried about Force India at the moment than Ferrari," on where his Red Bull team will finish the race.
11 Jun 21:06 Can Ferrari salvage anything from this race and get on the podium?
11 Jun 21:05 The gap between Hamilton and Bottas: 10sec
11 Jun 21:03 Everyone in the top 10 has made a pit stop, except for Raikkonen who's made two and Magnussen who still has to pit.
11 Jun 21:00 Raikkonen pitted for a new set of tyres. Can he make an impact towards the end of the race?
11 Jun 20:57 Lewis Hamilton's top speed is 27km/h faster than Fernando Alonso's!
11 Jun 20:54 Red Bull says that the reason for Verstappen's retirement is a battery issue.
11 Jun 20:47 Bottas is on Ocon's gearbox. He's gunning for second place.
11 Jun 20:43 Hulkenberg takes ninth place from Magnussen! He did it!
11 Jun 20:40 Nico Hulkenberg takes 10th place from local boy Lance Stroll. He's going after Kevin Magnussen next.
11 Jun 20:37

Bottas exits the race with a set of Soft tyres. Will Hamilton get the same tyres when he pits?

11 Jun 20:34 Raikkonen took sixth place from Fernando Alonso, but Alonso is far from giving up.
11 Jun 20:29 Kimi Raikkonen pits! He rejoins in seventh place.
11 Jun 20:27 Hamilton looks set to take the win today. He's lead over Bottas is little over 6sec.
11 Jun 20:26 Vettel lost mpre time to Hamilton. The gap now is 36 seconds!
11 Jun 20:24 Hamilton leads the race from team mate Valtteri Bottas and Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo.
11 Jun 20:20 Max Verstappen is out of the race with what could be a drive train issue.
11 Jun 20:18 Everyone thought it'd be a battle between Mercedes and Ferrari, but now it's the former vs. Red Bull! Can the energy drink people take the win?
11 Jun 20:15 So the reason for Vettel losing part of his front wing: Max Verstappen.
11 Jun 20:12 Vettel rejoins the race in 18th place. He has some serious damage limitation to do.
11 Jun 20:12 Vettel pits. He's getting a new front wing and fresh tyres.
11 Jun 20:11 Lewis Hamilton is leading the race and building a nice cushion over the field.
11 Jun 20:10 Is there something wrong with the Ferrari's? Seems like it!
11 Jun 20:09 What a restart! It's Hamilton leading from Verstappen, Bottas and Vettel.
11 Jun 20:08 Safety Car in this lap and the race resumes!
11 Jun 20:07 Massa: "I have no idea what's happening. Somebody just pushed me off."
11 Jun 20:05 Safety Car on the first lap and Romain Grosjean is in for a set of fresh tyres.
11 Jun 20:04 Sainz and Felipe Massa are out!
11 Jun 20:04 Carlos Sainz Jr. crashed!
11 Jun 20:03 AND WE'RE OFF!
Finish Thanks for joining our live coverage. Join us again for round eight in Baku in a couple of weeks. Cheers!
Finish Lewis Hamilton has cut the Vettel's championship lead to 12 points after round seven of 19.
Finish On home soil, Stroll collects his first World Championship points in P9 and completely the top 10 is Grosjean in the Haas.
Finish Raikkonen struggles to P7 after a late brake-by-wire issue and Hulkenberg comes home in P8.
Finish Vettel comes from P18 to take P4 and Perez holds off team-mate Ocon for P5.
Finish HAMILTON WINS! What a dominant display from the Brit. That's his sixth victory in Canada and his third win in a row. Bottas takes second and Ricciardo completes the top three.
Lap 69 Meanwhile, Vettel gets the jump on Perez for P4! A great dart down the inside at the Wall of Champions. A fantastic recovery job after his disastrous start.
Lap 69 Ah, a familiar sight. Alonso is getting out of his McLaren and has retired from the race. He has gone into the crowd!
Lap 66 Ocon made himself vulnerable as he tried another move around the outside of his team-mate Perez. That could have been avoided long ago if Perez agreed to the switch.
Lap 66 Bold, brave move from Vettel! He goes on the dirty side of the track on the run to T1 and forces Ocon to run wide! The World Championship leader is up to P5.
Lap 64 Ocon gets DRS from his team-mate but runs out of track to get the overtake done on the back straight. He ends up losing time and Vettel creeps ever closer...
Lap 63 Raikkonen has a serious brake problem and is losing six seconds a lap at the moment. Hulkenberg is getting into a position to pounce in P8.
Lap 61 A gift from Raikkonen! He makes a mistake on the entry into the 'Wall of Champions' and has to take the exit road. Vettel swoops into P6 and is now in the thick of the battle for the final podium spot.
Lap 58 Meanwhile, a thumbs up from race leader Hamilton as he laps Stroll, who gets out of the way on the start/finish straight in P9.
Lap 57 A day to forget for Toro Rosso as Kvyat retires with an engine problem. A double DNF for Red Bull's junior team.
Lap 56 Perez is told let Ocon through on team radio as Ferrari crank up the pressure behind them. The Mexican still believes he can attack Ricciardo in P3 and is still not playing ball.
Lap 53 It doesn't look like Perez is having any of it. Meanwhile, Vettel is told he is the fastest man on the track and is closing down Raikkonen at a real rate of knots. Will they battle or will the Finn be told to let him through?
Lap 52 Some team orders are perhaps coming into play from Force India. Ocon believes he can have a good crack at Ricciardo in P3 but is being held up by Perez in P4.
Lap 51 Ferrari are predicting that Vettel will catch Raikkonen in P6 and the Force India train ahead of him by Lap 62 which gives him eight laps to battle for as many points as possible.
Lap 50 And Vettel does pit after all! He joins Raikkonen on a two-stopper and is back on the ultras. 20 laps remaining to do some damage from P7.
Lap 49 Nice battle for the final podium spot here, just two seconds separate Ricciardo in P3 and Vettel in P6.
Lap 48 Big round of applause from the Williams garage as Stroll nips past Alonso down the back straight to get himself into the points.
Lap 47 All calm and serene for Hamilton out in front. 10 seconds between him and Bottas in P2.
Lap 46 Vettel has decided to stay out on the tyres he switched to on Lap 5. He is finding some great grip and is all over the back of the two Force Indias in front of him. It won't be long until Raikkonen joins that train, too. Interesting..
Lap 45 Stroll finally cruises past Vandoorne for P12 and next in his sights is the other McLaren of Alonso.
Lap 43 Stroll passes Grosjean for P13 and is trying desperately to find a way past Vandoorne in P12 who is defending like his life depended on it.
Lap 42 Raikkonen pits for a second time and switches back to the ultrasofts and it looks like Vettel will be doing the same as he complains that his tyres are worn out. The Finn comes out ahead of Alonso and Hulkenberg in P7.
Lap 40 There is an additional 10 second penalty for Kvyat as the original penalty for failing to regain position before the SC line on the formation lap. So more punishment for a mistake made by the stewards. He is fuming!
Lap 38 Stroll gets a big cheer from the grandstands as he makes a late move stick on Jolyon Palmer for P14.
Lap 37 Ferrari now reporting that Vettel has a damaged floor. This race has really not been kind to him.
Lap 36 "Embarrassing power in this mode," growls Alonso in P8. He is the only driver in the top 10 yet to pit.
Lap 35 We're at the halfway point and Hamilton is well on course for a sixth career win in Canada and his third consecutive victory here. The love affair looks set to continue.
Lap 34 Hamilton and Ocon both switched to the supersofts.
Lap 34 Ocon comes in as well and manages to sandwich himself in between the two Ferrari drivers, who pitted much earlier, in P6.
Lap 33 In comes race leader Hamilton and it's drama-free. He comes back out 9.3 seconds ahead of Bottas in P2.
Lap 32 Bottas has a little look at Ocon at T1 but he's just a little too far back to make a daring move. A real lack of grip on the exit of T2 will surely bring the Mexican into the pits.
Lap 30 Magnussen continues to drop down the field as Kvyat grabs the inside line into T1 and makes the move stick through the right-curling T2.
Lap 29 Hulkenberg cruises into P9 after getting the jump on Magnussen down the back straight. Vettel gets himself back up to P7 after strolling past "sitting duck" Alonso at the same part of the track.
Lap 28 Hamilton's lead is now up to 24 seconds, while team-mate Bottas is close to getting into the DRS activation zone on Ocon In P2.
Lap 27 Magnussen has been handed a five-second penalty for passing Alonso under the VSC earlier on. He is currently running in P9.
Lap 26 Mistake from Stroll at T13 and Hulkenberg makes him pay with a simple overtake down the back straight for P10. The Canadian then peels away into the pits.
Lap 25 Discussions with Hamilton to possibly switch to softs later, too. But at the moment his pace is absolutely on point. He could pit now and still get out ahead of Ocon in P2, such is his advantage.
Lap 24 Scratch that, it's a super-slick stop for Bottas who comes back out in P3 on softs which will comfortably see him through to the end.
Lap 22 Out in front, Hamilton currently has a 6.3 second gap to his team-mate Bottas. Ocon is running in P3. None of them have pitted yet.
Lap 21 Plenty of action! Vettel slips down the inside of Stroll on the entry into the 'Wall of Champions' for P9; Ricciardo, Perez and Raikkonen all get beyond Alonso who drops to P7.
Lap 20 And look at Alonso quietly going about his business. He is up from P12 to P4 but is yet to stop.
Lap 20 Perez now pits to try and cover off Ricciardo and he loses out, just! The Mexican drops in behind in P6 with Raikkonen behind him.
Lap 19 Vettel is now into top 10 and has Stroll in his sights.
Lap 19 Ricciardo comes into the pits to cover off the Ferrari under-cut and comes back out ahead of Raikkonen in P6.
Lap 18 In comes Raikkonen into the pits as tries the under-cut on Sergio Perez ahead of him. The Scuderia have to try something different following their poor start.
Lap 17 Great battle developing between Magnussen, Stroll and Hulkenberg who are three wide on the run down to T1. The former defends well to hold onto P8.
Lap 16 Now home favourite Lance Stroll gets himself into the points as he overtakes Vandoorne just before the dash down the back straight.
Lap 15 Drive-through penalty for Kvyat after failing to regain his position before the safety car line on the formation lap. He is currently in P11.
Lap 14 And the track is green again. Almost immediately, Magnussen gets up to P9. He started from P18!
Lap 14 On the restart, it will be Hamilton leading Bottas and Ricciardo. Raikkonen is down in P5 and Vettel has work to do from P15.
Lap 13 Verstappen's RB13 just suddenly cut out on him. What a shame. The car is being wheeled back into the run-off zone and a Ferrari cap has also made it onto the track courtesy of the wind.
Lap 12 The VSC has been deployed, but none of the front-runners are using it to come in for a early pit. The two Renaults have, though, and so has Ericsson. Hulkenberg was running in P7 before switching to supers.
Lap 11 And can you believe it?! Verstappen has come to a stop just beyond Turn 2! Heartbreak for the Dutchman after a wonderful, wonderful start.
Lap 10 Ferrari confirm Vettel's front wing damage was due to contact with Verstappen on his absolutely flying start.
Lap 8 It's beginning to settle down after a chaotic start. Hamilton has a 2.9 second advantage over Verstappen.
Lap 6 Vettel has been left with no option to pit. A new front wing is on and the supersofts are fitted as well. He re-emerges in P18. What a disastrous start for the World Championship leader!
Lap 5 More problems for Ferrari! Vettel has a broken front wing in P4 and Raikkonen loses another place after understeering on the run down to T3 and almost goes straight into the wall. He is down to P7.
Lap 4 The Safety Car is in and we're underway again! Hamilton blocks off the rampant Verstappen and Bottas launches an attack down the outside of Turn 1 but can't make it stick.
Lap 3 The Massa/Sainz is being investigated by the stewards. Looking back to the start, Vettel lost two places despite getting away well and is currently in P4, Ricciardo is up one position to P5 and Raikkonen has dropped from P4 to P6. Work to do for the Ferraris!
Lap 2 It was Romain Grosjean who was involved in the initial collision. He has had to pit for a new nose.
Lap 1 Safety Car! That didn't take long. Carlos Sainz makes contact with a Haas on the run down to T3 and collects Felipe Massa! That is their races done already.
Lap 1 GO! GO! GO! It's a short, tight dash to Turn 1 and Lewis Hamilton has held onto his lead, but who's this?! It's Max Verstappen down the outside and he is up to P2 from P5. An incredible start. Bottas keeps hold of third despite running over the grass.
14:00 The blankets are off the tyres and the formation lap is underway. Everyone is on the ultras to begin with bar Kevin Magnussen in P18 and Pascal Wehrlein in P20. They are on the super softs.
13:50 Carlos Sainz revealed on his way to the front of the grid that he could not even get in eighth gear down the back straight because of the wind. It really is going to be a nuisance. Ten minutes left to wait now...
13:46 The drivers are observing a minute's silence following the recent terror attack in London. The Canadian national anthem will follow...
13:40 The Safety Car has featured in 11 out of the last 19 races in Canada, which also has the lowest pole to victory conversion rate on the F1 calendar. It's not going to be easy for Hamilton to lead from the front.
13:35 It's warm and sunny in Montreal, with the track temp currently up at 40 degrees. However, it is also very windy and that could play a big part at a very exposed circuit. There is a 50km/h gust blowing across the track which could catch plenty out this afternoon and possibly bring out the Safety Car.
13:30 The pit lane is now open and the drivers are practicing their race starts. 30 minutes to go...
13:30 Sauber are the backmarkers (again) but Pascal Wehrlein will be starting from the pit lane after taking on a new gearbox following his crash in Q1 on Saturday.
13:28 Lance Stroll is taking part in his first home race and has plenty of support from the packed-out crowd in Montreal. He failed once again to get out of Q1, though, and will start from P17. A whopping 10 places down on his team-mate Felipe Massa.
13:24 Fernando Alonso is back from the Indy500 and lines up in P12 on the grid. Unsurprisingly, McLaren are the slowest through the speed traps this weekend and are poised for another difficult afternoon.
13:20 Nico Hulkenberg sneaked into the top 10 in the Renault, while the pressure is on his team-mate Jolyon Palmer in P15 as rumours continue to swirl about his future.
13:16 The Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo are in their familiar third-row grid slots, but they could be involved in a tight battle with Williams and Force India after the Mercedes-powered duo received their engine upgrade this weekend, allowing them to run in a higher mode for longer.
13:12 For the sixth time in seven races, Valtteri Bottas will line up third on the grid and will be hoping to get a decent tow from his-team into Turn 1. Kimi Raikkonen completes the Mercedes-Ferrari look to the first two rows.
13:06 The duo are all set to go head-to-head again after an enthralling qualifying session on Saturday. Hamilton equalled Ayrton Senna's record of 65 career pole positions with a breath-taking lap of 1:11.459 - the fastest ever seen at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and three tenths quicker than his title rival.
13:00 Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Canadian Grand Prix where Sebastian Vettel arrives with a 25-point lead over Lewis Hamilton in the World Championship standings. The lights will go out in one hour.
19:04 Then come the two Red Bulls, followed by Massa, Perez, Ocon and Hulkenberg complete the top 10. Join us for the race tomorrow! Until then...
19:03 Vettel will be alongside him on the front row, with Bottas in his ever-familiar spot of P3 and Raikkonen in P4.
19:02 Hamilton on pole position! And with that he matches Ayrton Senna's record of 65 poles and is just four more P1s away from knocking Michael Schumacher off top spot.
19:00 No improvement from Bottas and Raikkonen. But what can Vettel do? It's a very scrappy lap but does find some improvement in the final sector. He crosses the line... no! He is three tenths behind and has to settle for P2 on the grid.
18:59 Here comes Hamilton. He is a tenth up through the first sector and the gap is still the same through the middle. He goes down the back straight and sets a 1:11.459!
18:57 We're getting ready for the final runs. Top five at the moment: Ham, Vet, Bot, Rai, Ver. Everyone on the ultras. 1:11.791 the time to beat.
18:55 Pressure is on Ferrari now and Vettel loses time between S1 and S2. He needs a mighty S3 and...wow! He is just 0.004s slower than Hamilton! P2 for now.
18:53 Hamilton is going for another attacking lap but backs off after running too deep at T11. He can afford a mistake after smashing the outright lap record on his last run.
18:51 But how about this from Hamilton?! A 1:11.791. An absolutely astonishing lap which has the fans going crazy. That will take some beating. He grabs provisional pole and is three tenths clear of Bottas who slots into P2.
18:50 Vettel will be first to show his hand and he locks up in T11. That will do him no favours at all. He sets a 1:12.3.
18:48 It's crunch time. Q3 and the battle for pole has got the green light.
18:41 Out in Q2: Kvyat, Alonso, Sainz, Grosjean and Palmer. Join us for the top 10 shoot-out.
18:40 As the chequered flag waves, Kvyat has picked up a puncture and is out of qualifying.
18:39 T8 is giving Raikkonen a bit of bother. He kissed the wall a little earlier and now has to put on a whole lot of opposite lock to keep his car under control on his latest lap.
18:37 Grosjean sets a personal best in all three sectors but it is still not enough to drag himself out of the elimination zone. He is currently in P14 as the big-hitters at the top of the field come out for a second run.
18:35 Alonso has just been on team radio to report a drop in power in his MCL32. With so little power to begin with, it is surprising he has even noticed.
18:34 Six minutes left of the session and currently in the drop zone: Kvyat, Sainz, Alonso, Palmer, Grosjean.
18:32 Less than a hundreth of a second separate the top three of Hamilton, Raikkonen and Bottas. Can we have it that close in Q3, too, please?
18:31 Turn 1 is continuing to be a bit of a pest. Carlos Sainz is the latest to spin out there and tags his rear wing against the wall. No critical damage by the looks of it.
18:30 Hamilton then goes P1 with a 1:12.4 but Vettel ruins his lap by losing the rear at Turn 3.
18:28 Force India are showing the very early pace with both drivers in the 1:13.2 barrier.
18:25 The 15-minute Q2 session is underway. We have green lights again and another five drivers will drop out ahead of the top-ten shoot-out.
13:19 Out in Q1: Vandoorne, Magnussen, Stroll, Ericsson and, of course, Wehrlein. Make the skip over to Q2, why don't you?
13:17 Double yellows in sector one with just one minute of the session remaining. That has just ruined a load of final laps. The man to blame? Pascal Wehrlein. He touches the grass on the dash down to Turn 1 and goes flying into the tyre wall.
13:14 Wehrlein also improves but it is nowhere near getting him out of the drop zone. Seven tenths behind Lance Stroll in P15 at the moment.
13:13 Hulkenberg goes out of the drop zone and rises to P12 with his latest flying lap. He pushes team-mate Jolyon Palmer into the drop zone in the process.
13:11 Hamilton finds improvement and goes to the top of the standings. But not for long, as Bottas goes 0.007s quicker shortly after. The two Mercs have a three-tenth advantage over Vettel in third.
13:10 In the drop zone as drivers prepare for their second blast of Q1: Ericsson, Magnussen, Grosjean, Wehrlein and Hulkenberg.
13:09 But Bottas gets a little bit more out of the ultras and gets a tenth up on Vettel to rise to P1.
13:07 Hamilton is also on the ultras and is about to set his first timed lap. He is 0.050s up in sector 1 and finds an extra hundredth in the middle sector. He sweeps past the 'Wall of Champions' and goes P2, 0.030s behind Vettel, who is on the slower tyre remember.
13:06 Lots complaining about a lack of grip and traffic as Fernando Alonso flies up to P3, four tenths off the pace on the quicker ultras.
13:04 Ultrasofts appear to be the weapon of choice for much of the field, but the Ferraris are out on the supersofts. Raikkonen immediately goes up to P1 with a 1:13.5; Vettel two tenths behind in P2.
13:00 Green lights! The two Toro Rosso cars are the first to show...
12:58 We're pretty much all-set for the first 18-minute Q1 session. We will lose five drivers from this ahead of Q2.
12:54 There is packed crowd for this qualifying session and the weather is pretty much perfect. Track temperatures are up around 10 degrees from yesterday which will help limit the spin-outs that defined the first two practices.
12:52 Ferrari are looking to end another 16-year wait for pole position in Canada, just like they did in Monaco a couple of weeks ago. Hamilton, meanwhile, has clinched pole five times in Montreal at a track he clearly loves.
12:45 Force India and Williams have also been feeling the positive effects of a Mercedes engine upgrade and will be looking to turn up the heat a little on Red Bull, who have comfortably been the third-quickest team this season.
12:38 It's been pretty nip/tuck so far this weekend, with just three tenths separating the top four - which included Red Bull's Max Verstappen - and nine tenths covering the top nine in FP3.
12:35 It's Ferrari 2-1 Mercedes heading into qualy. Lewis Hamilton topped the FP1 timesheet, Kimi Raikkonen took the honours in FP2 and World Championship leader Sebastian Vettel was fastest in FP3 a little earlier on.
12:30 Hello and welcome along to our live coverage of the qualifying session for the Canadian Grand Prix.
11:00 The chequered flag is out and Vettel ends quickest of all ahead of Raikkonen and Hamilton. Join us in two hours for qualifying. Cheers.
10:58 Verstappen ends Mercedes 3-4 as he goes fourth quickest, 0.393s off the pace.
10:56 Vettel, Raikkonen and Hamilton remain in the pits as the clock counts down on FP3.
10:53 Hulkenberg is up to eighth place, Perez goes tenth and Alonso is between them.
10:52 Drop zone drivers at the moment: Perez, Vandoorne, Ericsson, Wehrlein and Magnussen.
10:51 A few drivers improving with Ocon up to seventh place ahead of Sainz, Alonso and Kvyat.
10:49 Hamilton is told that his gap in sectors 1 and 2 are marginal, it is "sector 3" where he is losing the most time to the Ferraris. He pits.
10:46 Although Hamilton and Bottas are edging ever closer to Ferrari, they remain third and fourth. Hamilton is now just 0.354s shy of Vettel's best.
10:43 Hamilton does personal bests on his way to a 1:13.0, which puts him P3 behind the Ferraris. Bottas shaves tenths off his time but remains fourth.
10:39 Bottas jumps up to third place and Hamilton starts an ultrasoft run.
10:37 Another improvement for Vettel, a 1:12.572.
10:35 Ricciardo takes to the track with a fresh set of ultras on his RB13 as does Palmer, who is down in 20th and last place. Vettel has used his well, lowering the benchmark to a 1:12.704.
10:33 Raikkonen goes second quickest, missing out on P1 by 0.002s.
10:32 Vettel is back out on track with a new set of ultras. His best time so far is a 1:13.015.
10:30 Top ten at the midway point: Vettel; Hamilton; Verstappen; Bottas; Sainz; Alonso; Ricciardo; Raikkonen; Kvyat and Grosjean.
10:29 P3 for Verstappen, who uses the supersoft tyres. He is 0.7s down. Sainz is up into fifth place, he's using the ultrasoft tyres.
10:26 Stroll has broken into the top ten with the rookie P10 on the ultras. But he's knocked out as Grosjean goes eighth.
10:25 Magnussen and Alonso are the last two drivers to make their mark; a P17 for the Haas driver while Alonso goes P20 - six seconds off the pace.
10:22 Hamilton ups his pace, now just 0.599s down, but he is using the supersoft tyres to Vettel's ultrasofts. Bottas, also on the supers, is third. Vettel pits with eight laps on those ultras.
10:21 Vettel is topping the speedtrap ahead of Massa, Stroll, Bottas and Ocon.
10:20 P2 for Hamilton but the gap is 0.971s.
10:19 Ferrari 1-2 with Raikkonen jumping up to second place, 0.354s off the pace. And a complaint from Vettel about traffic as he finds himself wedged between two cars through the final two corners. He finds more pace on the next lap, a 1:13.015.
10:18 Vettel down to a 1:13.766. Raikkonen a 1:17.8. And here comes Hamilton. He crosses the line with a 1:14.8 to go second. Make that fourth as Ricciardo and Sainz have leapfrogged him.
10:16 News in this morning is that both Mercedes customers - Williams and Force India - are running upgraded engines this weekend.
10:15 Vettel lowers the benchmark to a 1:14.5, Ricciardo is second - 0.391s down, and Hulkenberg goes third.
10:13 Ferrari join the party with both Raikkonen and Vettel out on the ultrasoft tyres. A 1:15.3 for Vettel and a 1:8.9 for Raikkonen.
10:10 Ricciardo is down to a 1:15.4, Palmer does a 1:17.3, and that's it for the first 10 minutes of FP3.
10:07 Now a 1:16.7 for Ricciardo, getting there.
10:05 Vandoorne also makes it through his first lap of the day, Ricciardo does a 1:21.9 to get the timesheets interested and Palmer - a driver under fire - heads out in his Renault.
10:04 Alonso is the next out, which is always a bit of a heart in the mouth moment for McLaren-Honda as all too often one of the two MCL32s hasn't made it past lap 1. He does. Phew! Ricciardo and Vandoorne venture out.
10:02 Pirelli's hardest compound, at least for this weekend, the soft is in play as Magnussen joins his Haas team-mate on the track. Raikkonen is back in the pits, Vettel follows him in.
10:01 Raikkonen, Vettel and Grosjean are the first three drivers out, taking to the circuit as soon as the lights changed.
10:00 The pit lane light turns green and FP3 is underway...
09:55 Five minutes to the start of final practice and so far the track temperature is up to 29'C.
09:49 Lance Stroll, Canada's home boy, managed to keep his car out of the barriers in Friday's sessions, finishing P17 with a best time of 1:15.240. Can he do it again? Keep it out the barriers is what I mean as he'll really be hoping to up his pace today as he seeks a good qualifying showing in front of his home fans.
09:45 Today it is forecast to be hotter with the word "much" thrown into that sentence. The warmer temperatures should suit Ferrari, but then again they could also help Mercedes who are struggling to get their tyres working on the first lap.
09:36 Friday's sessions belonged to Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen respectively as Mercedes and Ferrari vied for the top spots on the timesheets. Red Bull had a difficult afternoon as both Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen lost power, while Fernando Alonso finished P7 - after a hydraulic issue in the first session.
09:30 Welcome back to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for the third and final practice for the Canadian GP weekend. All times are local.
Finish It was a FP2 to forget for Red Bull, though, with both cars retiring early due to engine issues for Ricciardo and gearbox problems for Verstappen. Make sure to join us again tomorrow for FP3 and qualifying.
Finish There we have it. Another tricky session with Kimi Raikkonen the man coming out on top of the timesheets for Ferrari, with just four tenths separating the top five.
15:30 As the chequered flag waves, Alonso shoots up to P7 - 1.3 seconds off the pace - just to remind everyone he's still here.
15:27 Vettel's has spent the last five minutes complaining about Hamilton "backing off" and disrupting his long run. He may have a point...latest laps: Ham - 1:15.8, Vet 1:16.4.
15:20 And another spin, this time it's Sergio Perez at Turn 2. Red Bull boss thinks it's mainly down to the track not been cleaned properly rather than the suspected high tyre pressures.
15:16 The track's clear again with 13 minutes of the session remaining.
15:10 Red flag! The problems are mounting up for Red Bull. First Daniel Ricciardo had engine problems and it looks as though Max Verstappen has suffered a loss of power as well. He has stopped in an unsafe area and the car will need to be recovered.
15:06 Alonso's out on the supersofts, trying to make up for lost time. He is currently running in P16 while Daniil Kvyat becomes the latest driver to spin out on the grass.
15:03 And now Vettel goes for a spin at Turn 6, producing more evidence that the tyre pressures a bit too high and need reducing.
15:00 Bottas loses the car heading into Turn 1 and slides back out on track after sending up a big puff of dust. Vettel spots the off quickly and stays well clear of the Mercedes by taking an exit road.
14:54 And, as I type, Vandoorne spins out in the exact same spot after coming in far too hot to attack the corner. But hang on...who's this? It's Alonso! (remember him?) he is finally getting ready to venture out onto the track.
14:53 Marcus Ericsson, down in P17, has just given the 'Wall of Champions' a little kiss with his right rear tyre.
14:50 Verstappen locks up at Turn 1 and gives the second corner a miss as a result. He is another driver who has been a little tetchy on team radio, with that over-cut from Ricciardo in Monaco still playing on his mind. Let it go!
14:45 All the drivers in the top 10 have set their best times on the ultrasofts. At the halfway stage of the session, we are gearing towards some high-fuel race sims before the chequered flag waves.
14:44 "I'm starting to get a bit fed up now," said Grosjean, on team radio. Starting?! He has just spun out for a third time, Turn 2 on this occasion. Seems like those braking issues are still affecting Haas.
14:42 Hamilton's ultrasoft stint sees him skip up to P2 and sandwiches himself in between the two Ferraris.
14:40 Still no sign of Alonso in this session. The only driver yet to set a time. Welcome back.
14:34 Raikkonen's continuing to impress with his pace. He breaks into the 1:12 barrier to re-claim P1.
14:32 Vettel's 1.13.744 is 1.012 seconds quicker than last year's best FP2 time, with Raikkonen a tenth behind also on the ultrasofts. Bottas has also made the switch to the fastest tyre compound in P3.
14:29 A big committee meeting around Ricciardo's car, with a cracked exhaust reported to be the issue.
14:27 Vettel re-emerges from the pits and is the first to switch to the ultras. He wrestles P1 away from Hamilton by finding an extra couple of tenths on his first power lap.
14:25 Hamilton is also on the supersofts and rises to P1 with a 1:13.955, 0.035s quicker than Raikkonen, who also finds improvement.
14:20 Bottas is on the slower soft tyres but climbs to within a hundreth of a second of his fellow Finn Raikkonen, who is out on the supersofts.
14:18 "Loss of power," reports Daniel Riccardo, who had been recently dislodged by Lewis Hamilton in P3. He nurses his RB13 back to the pits.
14:15 "That was a good one!" jokes Vettel. He very nearly ends up in the 'Wall of Champions' after taking far too much kerb on entry. Lucky boy!
14:14 Vettel eats into Raikkonen's lead, the gap is now down to one tenth as Daniel Ricciardo in the Red Bull slots into P3 - a further second behind.
14:12 Romain Grosjean is the latest driver to find Turn 6 a little tricky. He spins out on the exit not once, but twice in two laps. That corner caught a lot out in FP1, too.
14:10 Raikkonen wrestles the car past the 'Wall of Champions' and goes 0.084s quicker than his team-mate Vettel. On his next attacking lap, he finds an extra three tenths to extend his lead out in front.
14:06 The two McLaren cars are going nowhere in a hurry. Both sides of the garage are working frantically on a handful of niggly problems. 'Twas ever thus.
14:04 Vettel is also one of the early starters. His first flying lap produces a 1:15.476 to take him straight to P1.
14:00 Off we go! The track is green and Carlos Sainz is first out, eager to make up for lost time.
13:58 There is a very small risk of rain in this session, but the track temp has picked up a little to 34 degrees. Hopefully that increase, and the fact that some rubber has been laid down, will see the lap times become even more competitive this afternoon with some improved grip. We shall see.
13:55 Oh, and Lance Stroll hasn't crashed yet on his homecoming. Five minutes until FP2 begins.
13:50 The only two incidents of note from FP1: Carlos Sainz's engine gave up on him in the first five minutes and failed to set a time, while it was business as usual for Fernando Alonso, who retired from session with a hydraulics problem.
13:40 Just four tenths separated the Brit and Kimi Raikkonen in P4, with World Championship leader Sebastian Vettel and Merc team-mate Valtteri Bottas sandwiched in between.
13:37 For the fourth time this season, Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheets in FP1, which turned out to be quite a tricky session with cool temperatures and a very dirty track to contend with. A lack of grip saw many cars go for a spin throughout the opening 90 minutes.
13:30 Hello and welcome along to our live coverage of FP2 from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The lights will go green for a second time today in 30 minutes.
11:32 That's it for now, join us in two hours for the build-up to FP2. Cheers.
11:30 The chequered flag is out and FP1 ends with a P1 for Hamilton, who is 0.198s up on Vettel. Bottas is third.
11:29 Yikes, Hamilton has to avoid Magnussen as the Haas driver had a lock up. Close call.
11:27 Ricciardo is up to tenth place as Red Bull continue to run the supersoft tyres. They have yet to put in a lap on the ultras.
11:25 Just five minutes left and it looks like Ocon is in a trouble. He is the latest to spin but avoids the barrier, keeps the car going and he's back on track.
11:21 Taking a lot at the bottom of the timesheets, the dropzone drivers would be: Grosjean, Palmer, Ericsson and Wehrlein. And of course Sainz, who has not set a time after an engine failure.
11:16 McLaren confirmed a loss of hydraulic pressure put Alonso out of FP1.
11:13 Game over for Alonso. A gearshift issue results in him going straight on at the chicane. He asks: "Are you sure it's better to stop here - it's easier to come back to the pits?" He's told to "stop on track." He is not happy.
11:11 Verstappen's time was set on the supersofts as are Massa and Kvyat's. They are P8 and 9 behind the Dutchman.
11:10 Here comes Verstappen up to seventh place, Alonso goes P14 and Stroll is 11th.
11:09 Raikkonen leapfrogs Perez to go fourth but he is almost half a second down on Hamilton's P1 time.
11:07 Another improvement from Vettel puts him up to second place, 0.046s down. The top three are separated by 0.085s !
11:03 Perez is up to third and both Raikkonen and Vettel have had slow first laps on the ultras. Vettel up his pace on his second hot lap, and he goes third, 0.346s down.
11:02 Vettel joins the party, Stroll is complaining of "too much snap" and a lack of stability, and Bottas locks up.
11:00 Still no sign of the Ferrari drivers.
10:57 And with that Hamilton ups his pace, it is a 1:14.046 for the Briton. And almost immediately he is beaten by Bottas, the Finn taking 0.127s off his team-mate's best.
10:53 Vandoorne has jumped up to eighth place but is two seconds behind Bottas. Hamilton has closed the gap on Bottas but stays second. He is 0.288s down.
10:51 P1 for Bottas with a 1:14.374 and Hamilton heads out on a new set of ultras. Don't expect a time from Alonso any time soon as he's relaxing in the McLaren garage.
10:50 Vandoorne makes it two as he heads out in his MCL32.
10:47 Bottas is the first driver back out with a new set of ultrasofts on his W08.
10:45 Alonso just had a chat with the Honda F1 boss but alas no lip readers in the room so no idea what was said.
10:40 All 20 drivers are back in the pits.
10:38 Two minutes to go before the drivers have to hand back this first set of tyres to Pirelli. Verstappen is up to fifth, Perez goes sixth, Vandoorne sets a time to go P18 and Alonso pits with no time.
10:37 Still waiting for lap times from the two McLaren drivers. Vandoorne is onto lap 5 and Alonso lap 9 but they've yet to actually set a time.
10:35 Change at the top as Hamilton goes quickest, 0.036s up on his team-mate's best.
10:33 Problems for Palmer who reports that his shift lights aren't working and now his "dash is really not working well." And Hulkenberg spins.
10:32 No surprise as Mercedes join Ferrari at the front of the pack. Bottas has just gone P1 with a 1:15.039 and Hamilton is up to fourth place. Massa goes fifth for Williams. And Hulkenberg has, again, gone through the chicane.
10:30 Vettel has climbed to second behind Raikkonen after telling Ferrari that his "car is ok" following his spin.
10:28 That's a first for Hulkenberg... he is the first man to go straight through and use the new run-off chicane!
10:27 Now Hamilton has a moment, it is super slippery out there.
10:24 Another Ferrari, another spin. This time it is the number '5' as Vettel spins it between Turns 1 and 2.
10:23 Raikkonen, on the ultras, has upped his pace to a 1:15.837. Verstappen is second ahead of Ricciardo, Perz, Bottas, Ocon, Vettel and Stroll.
10:22 A reminder that the tyre choices available this weekend are the soft, supersoft and the ultrasoft. And there is a mix of them out there at the moment with Hamilton leaving the Mercedes pits on the supersofts
10:20 A 1:17.811 for the Finn but that is pipped by Perez with a 1:17.584. Verstappen joins the on a set of supersofts.
10:17 A spin for Raikkonen, but that's all part of the fun at this circuit. He picked up the power, the car bit, and he spun.
10:15 One lap and Vandoorne is back in, and straight back out. He's joined by Perez and Raikkonen.
10:13 Vandoorne breaks the silence as the McLaren driver heads up. There is what looks like a bit of smoke but fear not, it's just dirt, a whole lot of dirt from this very dirty circuit.
10:07 All the drivers except Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have put in an installation lap already.
10:04 Sainz is out! First lap out of the pits in his STR12 and he has pulled over on the side of the track. ""Engine failure," is the Spaniard's assessment.
10:03 It is seriously dirty out there, sand and leaves, as Magnussen and his Haas engineer communicate.
10:01 Raikkonen is the first man out while Ricciardo heads out in his RB13 which is decked out with sensors.
10:00 The lights go green and FP1 is underway...
09:56 Air temperature is 21, track is 27 and the wind is 5.4kmph.
09:50 Fernando Alonso is back for McLaren-Honda, Jolyon Palmer's Renault seat is reportedly on the line and this weekend could decide his fate, and all the drivers need to avoid cutting the chicanes as Charlie Whiting is set to crack the whip if they do.
09:42 In Monaco, Hamilton said Ferrari had already made Vettel their number one, a claim denied by both the German and Kimi Raikkonen. It will, however, be interesting to see if Raikkonen will - and for that matter can - bounce back from his Monaco disappointment. Another driver looking to put Monaco behind him is Max Verstappen, who is "still not happy" after the over-cut handed Daniel Ricciardo the podium that he felt should have been his.
09:37 But while the countdown is on to see whether Stroll can meet a gravel trap or two, or even hit the Wall of Champions (that would be ironic), there is that not-so-little battle at the front between Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton to keep an eye on. Following his third win of this season, which he achieved in Monaco last time out, Vettel leads the standings by 25 points ahead of his Mercedes rival.
09:34 It is, as to be expected, Stroll who is garnering a lot of the attention ahead of this weekend's race as Canadian fans await his first F1 points. And all the rest await his next crash!
09:30 Welcome to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, home of the Canadian Grand Prix, the groundhog, and of course, our young Lance Stroll. All times are local.
