12 Nov 19:23 Hamilton sets quickest ever lap around Interlagos, dipping into the 1:11s
12 Nov 19:21 Hamilton's next target is Raikkonen in P3... just 4.8 seconds ahead.
12 Nov 19:20 And Hamilton takes P4... that was easy.
12 Nov 19:18 Hamilton now within DRS range of Verstappen, can he move up to P4?
12 Nov 19:08 Vettel leads Bottas 3.3s with 21 laps to go.
12 Nov 19:01 Hamilton finally pits after a mammoth soft tyre stint. He rejoins in P5.
12 Nov 18:59 Hamilton leads Vettel by just over two seconds.
12 Nov 18:45 The Briton hasn't pitted yet.
12 Nov 18:45 And guess who's leading the Brazilian GP? Lewis Hamilton!
12 Nov 18:43 Vettel manages to emerge just ahead of Bottas after making a pit stop. Can Bottas apply pressure on the Ferrari?
12 Nov 18:40 Bottas pits from P2.
12 Nov 18:38 We're nearing the pit stop cycle. Bottas slightly behind leader Vettel.
12 Nov 18:26 Hamilton up to P7, just 15 sec behind leader Vettel.
12 Nov 18:17 Hamilton is on fire! (not literally), he's already up to P10!

12 Nov 18:04 Drama at the start, Safety Car out.
12 Nov 18:00 All drivers to start on super-softs tyres except for Ricciardo, Ericsson, Gasly and Hamilton, who are all on softs.

FINISH That is that from us for the 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix. Thank you very much for your company today and do join us again in a fortnight for the Abu Dhabi GP. See you then.
FINISH Congratulations to Vettel on his victory. Massa, meanwhile, is driving around the track with a Brazilian flag.
FINISH Wow, that was a great end to the race with Raikkonen and Hamilton battling over the final podium spot and Massa, Alonso and Perez battling to the flag.
FINISH Massa manages to hold off Alonso, who in turn holds off Perez. Hulkenberg completes the top 10.
FINISH Verstappen finished P5 and Ricciardo P6.
FINISH Will Massa hold off Alonso? The Spaniard is pushing hard.
FINISH Vettel wins the Brazilian Grand Prix with Bottas taking P2 and Raikkonen completing the podium after holding off Hamilton.
Lap 71 Looks like that is that for Hamilton.
Lap 71 Hamilton has another look at Turn 1, but no way through. He's not close enough.
Lap 71 Final lap of the 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix and Vettel has this wrapped up with Bottas and Raikkonen set to complete the podium.
Lap 70 Hamilton is too far at Turn 4 and it looks like Raikkonen will hold on. Meanwhile, Massa is holding onto P7.
Lap 70 Stroll is nursing his car back to the garage. Further up the track, Hamilton is still stuck behind Hamilton.
Lap 69 Nervous faces in the Ferrari garages. Again Hamilton tries at the first corner, but no way through. Stroll's left front tyre has gone.
Lap 68 Hamilton is now struggling with his tyres. Is that it in terms of the battle for the podiums?
Lap 68 Massa continues to hold off Alonso while Perez is also within DRS range of the Spaniard.
Lap 67 Hamilton is in DRS range of Raikkonen, but he locks up at Turn 1 and he will have to wait another lap before completing the move. That was a bit lock-up.
Lap 66 Looks like Hamilton has a blister on the left rear, but he is not worried about that now as he is on the engine of Raikkonen.
Lap 65 A 1:11.044 now from Verstappen is the new fastest lap.
Lap 65 The top four are separated by just six seconds with Hamilton 1.8s adrift of Raikkonen in third place.
Lap 64 Bottas is told that 'Vettel has been told to manage his tyres so if there is anything left, let's go for it'.
Lap 63 Verstappen wins the argument as he pits. There is concern over Raikkonen's rear tyre.
Lap 62 Verstappen asks the team 'can we make a pit stop', but the reply is 'the preference is to stay out'. He still questions the team. He is 32s ahead of Ricciardo.
Lap 61 Hamilton puts the foot down and produces a 1:11.932, which is the fastest lap in Brazil. He is 3.9s behind Raikkonen.
Lap 60 So Hamilton has 11 laps to make up about four seconds on Raikkonen.
Lap 59 Hamilton tries to complete the job at Turn 1, but Verstappen covers his tracks. The Merc driver blasts pasts the Toro Rosso at Turn 4.
Lap 58 Okay Hamilton is now within DRS range of the Red Bull of Verstappen. Will he wait for DRS zone?
Lap 58 The points appear to be wrapped up as Hulkenberg, in P10, has a 12s lead over Sainz.
Lap 57 Hamilton is now within two seconds of Verstappen.
Lap 57 More bad news for Grosjean as he has also received two penalty points to his Super Licence.
Lap 56 Alonso is now within DRS range of Massa.
Lap 55 Verstappen tells the team 'the tyres feel like rocks, they are so stiff'.
Lap 54 Raikkonen is catching Bottas as the gap is down to two seconds. Hamilton is now three adrift of Verstappen.
Lap 53 Grosjean is told to box for that 10-second penalty and he screams 'for what'. When told about the penalty for the Ocon incident, he replies 'you must be kidding me'. No, they are not Romain.
Lap 52 Hamilton is now 4.7s behind Verstappen in fifth place.
Lap 51 Alonso has managed to catch up with Massa again and he is now just 1.4s behind his former team-mate.
Lap 50 Vettel leads by three seconds while Raikkonen is another two seconds adrift.
Lap 49 Hamilton complains that he 'lost another two seconds' after being held up by Stroll while he was trying to lap the Williams man.
Lap 48 Verstappen tells the team that 'he is all over the place' and the reply is 'it is gutsy at Turn 3'. Gasly goes on the inside of Stroll and he moves up to P13.
Lap 47 Massa can see Ricciardo in his mirrors. This is over P6. He goes on the inside of the Williams at Turn 1.
Lap 47 A 1:12.423 from Hamilton puts him seven seconds adrift of Verstappen and 16s behind Vettel.
Lap 46 Stroll finally completes the move on Grosjean and he is up to P16. He locked up again, but Grosjean didn't fight back.
Lap 45 Hamilton is roughly 19s behind leader Vettel.
Lap 44 Hamilton pits from the lead and he puts on the supersoft tyres. He rejoins in fifth. Ricciardo also pits.
Lap 44 Sainz eases past Gasly and moves into P11.
Lap 43 Hamilton tells the team 'I've lost time to Vettel'. No kidding! The gap is 2.2s.
Lap 42 Hartley is told 'box, box, we have to retire the class'.
Lap 41 Stroll on Grosjean, but he locks up at Turn 1 and the Frenchman manages to retake the place. They are squabbling over P15.
Lap 40 Hulkenberg goes on the outside of Gasly at Turn 1 and moves up to P10.
Lap 39 Vettel now seems to be getting the better of the battle with Hamilton as the lead is back to 3.5s.
Lap 38 Sainz looks to have a go on the inside of Wehrlein, who is P12, but no way through. He eventually completes the move in the DRS zone.
Lap 37 Alonso is told his tyres should be good until the end.
Lap 36 Hamilton's lead over Vettel is 3.7s while the Ferrari man is 2.6s ahead of Bottas. Perez pits from P7.
Lap 35 Alonso is still stuck behind Massa. Meanwhile, Sainz moves past the Sauber of Ericsson and is up to P11.
Lap 34 Raikkonen is on the move as he puts in a fastest lap of 1:12.945. That puts him four seconds behind Bottas.
Lap 34 Raikkonen is warned that 'Hamilton will be a factor at the end of the race'. Verstappen is up to P5 as Ricciardo moves out of the way for his team-mate.
Lap 33 While Vettel appears to be enjoying the softs, Bottas is not really making headway.
Lap 32 Ricciardo is told that Max is the man behind you and he is on fresher tyres 'don't hold him up, please'. The reply is 'no'. Jokes, it was 'understood'.
Lap 31 A new fastest lap of 1:12.996 from Vettel on the fresher tyres. Hamilton's lead is just over four seconds.
Lap 31 Raikkonen rejoined ahead of Verstappen, who is actually stuck behind Perez, who is yet to pit. Well not for long as the Dutchman makes an easy pass.
Lap 30 Raikkonen pits as well and that means Hamilton leads the race.
Lap 30 Ricciardo goes on the inside of Perez at Turn 1 and he is up to fifth place.
Lap 29 Vettel rejoins just ahead of Bottas, but by the narrowest of margins.
Lap 29 Vettel now pits from the lead. Verstappen is also. Will Vettel rejoin ahead of Bottas?
Lap 28 Bottas is the first of the top runners to pit. He was stationary for 2.7s, but where will he come out? He rejoins behind Hamilton. Massa also pits.
Lap 28 Ricciardo is within DRS range of Perez, who is P8.
Lap 27 Another fastest lap of 1:13.320 from Hamilton and the gap to Verstappen is down to 6.9s.
Lap 26 Hamilton tells the team 'the supersofts are quite good, eh'.
Lap 25 Wehrlein tells the team he is losing a lot of power while Ericsson is just behind him. They have both been told to 'keep pushing'.
Lap 25 Vettel is not really getting away from Bottas with the lead round about the two-second mark, but Raikkonen has dropped four seconds off the Merc's pace.
Lap 24 Fastest lap of 1:13.485 from Hamilton and it means he is 'only' nine seconds behind Verstappen.
Lap 23 Grosjean has been given a 10-second penalty for causing a collision with Ocon on Lap 1.
Lap 22 Fastest lap from Bottas of 1:13.8 and he is given the hurry-up by Merc as well.
Lap 21 Massa is struggling through the corners with his tyres. Hamilton has a look, but ducks out of it. He has another go on the inside and he moves up to P5.
Lap 21 Vettel's lead is 1.5s over Bottas, who in turn is three seconds ahead of Raikkonen.
Lap 20 Here is Alonso on Hamilton and he goes on the inside of the McLaren and the four-time world champion is up into seventh place.
Lap 19 Ricciardo dives on the inside of Hulkenberg and he moves up to ninth place.
Lap 19 We now have Massa, Alonso and Hamilton very close to each other. Looks like Hartley's radio is finally working.
Lap 18 Raikkonen is starting to struggle with his tyres.
Lap 17 Looks like Merc are going to try a one-stop strategy to try to challenge the Ferraris, but the pace of Vettel is a bit too quick at the moment.
Lap 16 Hamilton is 16s behind race leader Vettel.
Lap 15 At the front, Vettel's lead is 2s over Bottas while Raikkonen is 3s behind the Mercedes driver.
Lap 14 Alonso is next up for Hamilton and, as always, it will be interesting battle between the two world champions. But first, Ricciardo is into the points after going on the inside of Sainz.
Lap 14 Hamilton first try to go on the inside of Perez, but the Force India man covers his tracks. The Merc then ducks on the outside and he completes the job. There was a bit of fightback from the Mexican, but that Mercedes had too much power.
Lap 13 Ricciardo is up to P11 with another easy move on Gasly on the home-finish straight.
Lap 13 The incident involving Ricciardo, Vandoorne and Magnussen will be investigated after the race.
Lap 12 By the way, Perez is next up for Hamilton while Gasly is in Ricciardo's sights.
Lap 11 Vettel is 1.8s clear of Bottas, who has a 1.7s lead over Raikkonen while Verstappen is 1.3s adrift of the Finn. The second Finn that is.
Lap 11 Ricciardo goes on the inside of Stroll at Turn 1 and he moves up to P13. Hamilton is up to P8 as he passes Hulkenberg. Oh and now Ricciardo takes candy off Ericsson.
Lap 10 Bottas has found a bit of pace again and he has extended his lead over Kimi to over one second. Looks like Hartley has an issue with his radio.
Lap 10 Ricciardo has moved up to P13 after an easy move on Hartley.
Lap 9 Raikkonen is within DRS zone of Bottas.
Lap 9 Here is Hamilton on Gasly. He goes on outside of the Toro Rosso to move into the points. And now Ricciardo is all over Hartley, who is P14.
Lap 8 And Hamilton picks up another place as Ericsson was a sitting duck on the home-finish straight. F1 is an easy sport, isn't it Lewis?
Lap 8 Ericsson is next up for Hamilton. Meanwhile at the front, Vettel has a 1.3s lead over Bottas.
Lap 7 Hamilton has a go at Stroll at Turn 1 and he makes it stick. P12 now. Here is Ricciardo on Wehrlein and goes on the inside of the Sauber to move to P15.
Lap 6 So no changes in the top four as Vettel leads Bottas, Raikkonen and Verstappen. Hamilton is all over the back of Stroll.
Lap 6 Massa gets the better of Alonso and moves up to P5. Nicely done Felipe. Hamilton passes Grosjean and is up to P13.
Lap 6 And we are racing again as Vettel, who backed the pack up quite nicely, puts the foot down to speed away from Bottas.
Lap 5 Safety Car will be in at the end of this lap.
Lap 5 The incident with Grosjean and Ocon has also been noted. Again, thanks for that.
Lap 4 The incident involving Vandoorne, Magnussen and Ricciardo has been 'noted by the stewards'. Yeah, we also noted it.
Lap 4 So it is Vettel from Bottas, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Alonso, Massa, Perez, Hulkenberg, Sainz and Gasly.
Lap 3 Vandoorne looks like he got lost while trying to make his way back to the pits, but he is now trying to cross the track. Don't worry, he is waiting on the marshals to give him the go-ahead.
Lap 3 Okay so Vandoorne was in the middle of the Magnussen-Ricciardo sandwich.
Lap 2 So we have three retirements already in Vandoorne, Magnussen and Ocon. Ricciardo is still going.
Lap 2 Vandoorne is also out. He made contact with Ricciardo earlier. Magnussen is also out. Looks like he was also involved in that scrap.
Lap 2 Hamilton is already up to P14.
Lap 2 The Safety Car is leading everyone through the pit lane. Ricciardo has made an early stop.
Lap 1 Safety Car is out and so is Ocon. He tried to nurse the car back to the pits, but he's now had to park it.
Lap 1 Ricciardo managed to get going again, but now Ocon and Grosjean collide and we have a Safety Car. Grosjean tried to go around the Force India, but went into Perez.
Lap 1 And away we go at Interlagos. Vettel makes a good getaway and he gets past Bottas at the first corner. Ricciardo goes off track at the back. Vettel leads from Bottas and Raikkone.
14:02 What about the tyres? Ricciardo, Ericsson, Gasly and Hamilton are the only drivers on the soft tyres.
14:01 Just an update on Raikkonen, Ferrari detected a problem with his telemetry system and decided to have a look, but the issue has resolved itself. Stranger things have happened.
14:00 Bottas leads the pack away on the formation lap. They are all away without any problem, we think.
13:55 Okay, Kimi is in the car. It looks like he will start the race.
13:53 The mechanics are working on Raikkonen's car while the Finn is standing next to them. Not yet sure what the problem is.
13:51 Oh dear...Ferrari alert, Ferrari alert, Ferrari alert. Problems with Kimi's car.
13:46 If you were wondering, yes Massa belted that one out, but to be honest that was not the most exciting rendition of the Brazilian anthem.
13:45 Okay time for the Brazilian anthem.
13:41 Shock, horror! There is a zero per cent chance of rain during today's race. The air temperature is currently 28 degrees and the track just a 'light' 60 degrees.
13:39 In case you were wondering, Bernie Ecclestone is in town. He claims he bought a ticket. The best we can tell you about that interview is he was dodging questions, but he did predict a Ferrari driver will win the race.
13:36 Well, Max has been pushed onto the grid by his mechanics, nothing to worry about. Well, not yet anyway.
13:34 Look away now Red Bull fans. Christian Horner has told Sky that they fear that one of their cars only has a "50 per cent chance" of seeing the chequered flag. Max and Daniel to flip a coin before the race? Let's hope not.
13:30 Aaaaaaand the pit lane is open. Guess who is the first man out? Yep, it's Massa. There go the Renaults and the Saubers as well.
13:29 If you are wondering about the recent history at Interlagos, Hamilton won last year while Nico Rosberg won the two previous editions. Ferrari, through Massa, last won the Brazilian GP in 2008.
13:25 So this is Massa's final race at home, well last year was also meant to be his final race and look how that turned out. Do you think we'll see the Brazilian again?
13:22 If you are wondering about the weather, then don't. It's already hot and humid out there with the track temperature already 58 degrees Celsius.
13:18 We guess the biggest questions ahead of the race are: Can Bottas hold off the Ferraris? How many places can Hamilton make up from the back? Can Verstappen cause another upset? How many places can Ricciardo make up from midfield?
13:14 Pascal Wehrlein, Marcus Ericsson, Lance Stroll, Brendon Hartley and Pierre Gasly complete the grid with Hamilton starting in the pit lane as mentioned before.
13:11 Nico Hulkenberg, Carlos Sainz, Felipe Massa and Esteban Ocon complete the top 10 with Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen next while Daniel Riccardo dropped to P14.
13:09 But while one Merc is in the pit lane, the other is right at the front as Valtteri Bottas claimed the third pole of his career ahead of Sebastian Vettel. Behind them are Kimi Raikkonen and Max Verstappen while Sergio Perez and Fernando Alonso occupy the third row of the grid. Daniel Ricciardo was actually fifth fastest, but he received a 10-place engine penalty.
13:08 Here you go then with the grid. First things first, Lewis Hamilton crashed out in FP1 so he will start from the pit lane.
13:05 Sit tight, it promises to be another good race in Brazil and we will bring you the grid and some other news in a second or 10.
13:01 In case you didn't know, today's race is the penultimate of 2017 and, while both titles have been won, there are still some questions to be answered, like will Sebastian Vettel or Valtteri Bottas finish second, will Marcus Ericsson somehow get a point or will Fernando Alonso complete a race without a moan.
13:00 Greetings and welcome to our live coverage of the 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix from the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Interlagos.
15:10 Raikkonen settles for P3, followed by Verstappen and Ricciardo who were way off the pace. Perez, Alonso, Hulkenberg, Sainz and Massa complete the top 10. Join us again for the race tomorrow!
15:09 And it leaves the door for Bottas...who smashes straight through it! He clinches his third career pole by 0.038 seconds!
15:08 No improvement from Vettel...
15:08 Bottas is quick through sector 1, but Vettel is struggling!
15:06 The rain's getting slightly heavier, so a mad dash ensues down the pit lane exit. Is there any more time to be found now? Let's find out...
15:03 Everyone back in the garage, preparing for the final laps of the day. A few spots of rain again just to make things interesting...
15:01 Massa and Sainz the last to complete their first hot laps. Sainz slots into P9 and Massa has to back off completely after almost suffering the same fate as Hamilton.
15:00 Raikkonen four tenths off the pace in P3, Verstappen and Ricciardo look out of the picture in P4 and P5.
14:59 Vettel responds with 1:08.360 to take provisional pole.
14:58 Bottas first up with a 1:08.442 - a new track record.
14:53 Here we go then for Q3, with Vettel the man to beat after topping the timesheet in Q2. There's no Hamilton battling for pole here given his shock crash in Q1.
14:50 Out in Q2: Ocon, Grosjean, Vandoorne, Magnussen, Hartley.
14:49 Back at the top, Vettel finds an extra tenth on Bottas to take P1 ahead of the top 10 shoot-out.
14:48 But Alonso flies up to P6! Ocon and Grosjean now in trouble.
14:47 Grosjean pushes Alonso into the drop zone.
14:47 Perez leapfrogs team-mate Ocon up to P7 with his latest lap.
14:44 Grosjean improves but it is not enough to get him into Q3. Still time for a cool-down lap and one last attack with four minutes left of the session.
14:40 In the drop zone with 7 minutes of Q2 remaining: Vandoorne, Hulkenberg, Grosjean, Magnussen, Hartley.
14:38 Massa with another great lap on home soil as he leapfrogs Ricciardo up to P5.
14:37 Bottas is back in the pits with a 1:08.901 in the bank. He is a tenth quicker than Vettel, who in turn is a tenth quicker than team-mate Raikkonen.
14:35 Drivers reporting light drizzle as they gear up for the first round of hot laps in Q2. Still fine for dry tyres at the moment...
14:33 Green lights for Q2. Another five drivers will be eliminated ahead of the top 10 shoot-out which will be minus Lewis Hamilton following his shock crash in Q1.
14:27 Out in Q1: Wehrlein, Gasly, Stroll, Ericsson and the World Champ himself...Hamilton.
14:26 Massa decided to go back out again after all and is up to P4. It's not good news for team-mate Stroll, though, he's out.
14:24 Improvement from Wehrlein, but it's only enough to put him P16.
14:23 Hartley has gone up 15th with a 1m10.625s. That's put Gasly into the drop zone.
14:20 The top 10 are all staying in the pits, safe in the knowledge they have done enough to reach Q2. The rest are going for a second round of hot laps.
14:18 In the danger zone with the crashed-out Hamilton at the moment: Hartley, Ericsson, Wehrlein and Stroll.
14:17 Still barely anything separating the top dogs. But it's Raikkonen now leading Bottas by 0.047s. A reminder that Kimi is on softs and Valtteri is on the supers.
14:14 Out of nowhere, Verstappen is the first to drop into the 1:09 range...but not for long as Vettel finds another couple of tenths on the slower soft tyres to take top spot.
14:13 Plenty of first hot laps getting stamped in now. Bottas is quickest at the moment with a 1:10.0 on supersofts, with Raikkonen just one tenth off the pace in P2.
14:10 The track is clear again and 19 cars are heading back out to continue with Q1, including Stroll, with the red flag giving the Wiliiams garage the time they needed to get the car ready.
14:07 Hamilton is fine and trudging back to the garage after a lift from the medical car. What a dramatic start to qualifying!
14:03 And Lewis Hamilton is one of them! Wow! Red flags! The World Champion has gone flying into the barrier.
14:02 In this 18-minute session, five drivers will be eliminated ahead of Q2.
14:00 And there it is. Mercedes are eager to get on with things with the threat of more rain looming. The track has dried out enough for supersofts at the moment.
13:57 The drivers are getting strapped in and ready for Q1. The green light is moments away.
13:50 The other drivers with penalties: Pierre Gasly (15 places), Brendon Hartley and Daniel Ricciardo (10 places).
13:45 There is some more penalty news to bring you with Lance Stroll requiring a new engine and gearbox following his stoppage in FP3. His engine change was within his allocation, so it's a five-place grid drop for the new gearbox. His mechanics are working very hard to get him ready for Q1.
13:40 It's nothing more than light drizzle at the moment, but there is a 30 per cent of more rain to come over the course of qualifying, Mind you, the weather report has been wrong pretty much all weekend thus far.
13:35 Why should it be a good one? Well, the top four of Hamilton, Bottas, Raikkonen and Vettel in FP3 were separated by just 0.050 seconds and, just to mix it up even more, it's started to rain at Interlagos. The intermediate tyres will need to be put on as it stands.
13:30 Hello and welcome back to Brazil for the penultimate qualifying session of the 2017 season. It should be a good one. Q1 gets underway in 30 minutes.
12:00 So that's it for FP3, the chequered flag is out and Bottas is P1 with a 1:09.281. The good news ahead of qualifying is that the top four are separated by 0.058s so here's hoping for a thriller. Join us in two hours for qualifying. Cheers.
11:59 Massa and Grosjean playing in the traffic - hand gestures included.
11:57 Verstappen returned to the pits after his spin. The good news is that Horner reckons they'll get it right in qualifying, this is just a case of a few tweaks needed.
11:55 Ricciardo has moved up to fifth place but he is still 0.963s down. And Verstappen has spun.
11:54 "Unbelievable with so much understeer" is Verstappen's gripe as he has now fallen to eighth place. Ricciardo is P9.
11:52 Verstappen leaves the pits on a new set of supersofts having just fallen to seventh place - he was pipped by Ocon.
11:47 Lap six hands Bottas the P1 with a 1:09.281 with Hamlton going second. The top four are separated by 0.058s.
11:45 Raikkonen has pipped his team-mate, 0.013s up. That means the top three are separated by 0.027s!
11:44 Alonso is fifth on his supersoft run!
11:43 Now Vettel is P1 with a 1:09.339. Hamilton goes second, losing out by 0.014s.
11:42 Mercedes on the supersofts and Mercedes quickest as Bottas goes P1 with a 1:09.5 but that's pipped by Raikkonen with a 1:09.3.
11:39 Verstappen slides into sixth place, 0.8s down, as the rain closes in on the circuit.
11:38 Verstappen has left the pits on a set of the soft Pirellis while Ricciardo has gone P10 on the supersofts.
11:37 Ocon is up to sixth place ahead of Massa but is running the soft tyres to the Brazilian's supersofts.
11:34 15 laps on the softs and Hamilton heads back into the pits.
11:33 So laps from 17 of the 20 drivers as Stroll is out and we are still waiting for another Red Bull sighting.
11:31 One happy Alonso heads back into the pits. “Fernando, do you want another lap?” “I’m happy.” “Okay, box this lap.”
11:29 Red Bull have joined the party with both drivers heading out on the medium tyres and then pitting after just one lap.
11:26 No running from Red Bull Racing at the moment as they are saving engine life - nothing worse than that.
11:25 Alonso on the softs is fourth fastest, 0.735s down, and a tenth faster than Bottas.
11:22 Another improvement on the supersofts for Raikkonen and Vettel, who is now 0.040s down. Hamilton, running the softs, is 0.180s down.
11:21 Ferrari 1-2 as Vettel goes second, 0.332s down on his team-mate. Raikkonen has lowered the benchmark to a 1:09.646.
11:20 15 times on the board with just Magnussen, Verstappen, Ricciardo, Massa and Stroll yet to post a time.
11:18 Hamilton slots into second place, 0.086 behind Raikkonen, while Bottas is third.
11:15 As Raikkonen goes quickest with a 1:09, Bottas and Hamlton leave the pits on a fresh set of soft tyres.
11:13 The track is clear and FP3 is back underway without the VSC.
11:12 Stroll is out of the car and the marshals are rolling it out of harm's way.
11:11 A little less luck for Lance Stroll as he has lost the gearbox and is stranded on the side of the track. The VSC is out as Stroll reports that "something happened with the gear" and that he "lost power."
11:10 A puff off smoke from Verstappen's Red Bull racer but Christian Horner says "no major dramas" and puts it down to water, not smoke.
11:07 Times coming through as Alonso goes P1 with a 1:12.8 ahead of Vandoorne and Gasly. And now Hartley is P1.
11:06 Well the good news is that even in the face of this bubbling feud, Gasly and now Brendon Hartley are out on track and running.
11:04 Kevin Magnussen, Nico Hulkenberg, Massa and Pierre Gasly have all gone out
11:03 Apparently the Renault v Toro Rosso feud is about to ignite with reports suggesting that Renault would withhold engine parts from Toro Rosso for the rest of the weekend and Abu Dhabi. Cyril is an angry man and feels Toro Rosso have brought Renault's name into disrepute. Helmut Marko, the Red Bull advisor, is allegedly asking STR team boss Franz Tost to issue an apology.
11:01 Marcus Ericsson follows him out ahead of Vettel, Fernando Alonso, Pascal Wehrlein, Romain Grosjean, Kevin Magnussen and Stoffel Vandoorne.
11:00 Green light and FP3 is underway... Carlos Sainz is the first man out having waited at the end of the pit lane for the session to start.
10:55 Five minutes to the start and it is still dry out there. Track temperature is 27'C and the air is 19'C.
10:48 Onto other news: Renault and Toro Rosso are at it. Yesterday the French manufacturer blamed Toro Rosso for their recent engine troubles. "We do have a little bit of a concern about the way that our engine is operated in the Toro Rosso car, which may explain why we have had so many issues coming from Toro Rosso specifically," Renault’s Cyril Abiteboul said. “There are never coincidences in this sport.” Toro Rosso have hit back...“We mustn’t forget that they are fighting with Toro Rosso for a better position in the Constructors’ championship, as suggested by Mr Abiteboul the situation may not be a coincidence, but it is certainly not due to STR’s car," read a team statement.
10:43 The shocking news overnight is that some unnamed Mercedes personnel were robbed at gunpoint as they left the circuit on Friday. Hamilton has called on the race organisers to do more towards the safety of all team personnel. "Please say a prayer for my guys who are here as professionals today even if shaken," he tweeted. "This happens every single year here. F1 and the teams need to do more, there’s no excuse!"
10:41 Daniel Ricciardo was third fastest in FP3, speaking about his "slumber party" and "pillow fights" as he bedded in a new MGU-H, while Sebastian Vettel was fourth ahead of Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen. Esteban Ocon was best of the rest with Felipe Massa, competing in his second last F1 race, was P8.
10:35 Friday's practices belonged to Lewis Hamilton who was quickest in both sessions with a new lap record of 1:09.2 in FP1. His team-mate Valtteri Bottas was second in both as Mercedes dominated the early running.
10:30 Welcome back to the Interlagos circuit for the Brazilian GP's third and final practice session. This one, though, is just an hour. All times are local.
15:32 That's it for today, please join us on Saturday for final practice followed by qualifying. Cheers.
15:30 The chequered flag is out on FP2 which ends with Hamilton quickest of all, handing the Mercedes driver the Friday double ahead of Bottas. Ricciardo is third.
15:28 Vettel has a close encounter with the pit lane barriers but misses it by about a foot.
15:27 Coming into the final minutes and the top six are separated by 0.6s with a second separating the top nine - Hamilton to Hulkenberg.
15:23 Track temperature is down to 47'C having been as high as 54'C midway through practice.
15:20 Ricciardo reports that the car behaviour is pretty much the same between the soft and supersoft tyres, which is good news for Red Bull.
15:17 Ferrari report that the rain is "quickly getting heavier".
15:16 18 laps on the soft tyres for Verstappen and he has a big lock up... not sure how many more laps he'll be doing on that set of tyres.
15:15 There is plenty of traffic out there at the moment with all but Ericsson putting in the laps.
15:12 There is a report of "very light rain" beginning to fall at the Interlagos circuit.
15:09 Giovinazzi remains slowest of all, 2.9s down on Hamilton.
15:05 Great news for Haas as Grosjean, despite his earlier spin, has told Haas that he is "much happier" with the car in this session.
15:04 A look at the long run pace and it appears as if Vettel is having a few problems as he is losing more time than the rest of the top six. Tyre wear?
15:00 Alonso, back on track from his earlier glitch, is up to tenth place as he pushes Sainz down to 11th.
14:58 Perez has moved up to 11th place with a 1:10.6.
14:55 A few more clouds, a bit more grey but still no rain.
14:52 Red Bull are changing the cool gills on the side of Ricciardo's car so he's staying put the next few minutes.
14:48 Ocon takes best of the rest off Massa with a 1:10.5 but annoys Hulkenberg by getting in his way.
14:44 A huge slide from Vandoorne across the grass but thankfully no damage to the car, including the new front wing that he is running for the first time.
14:41 Problems for Ericsson who is off and into the barrier with the right side of the car. He got it wrong going down the hill but the car appears to have survived and he's heading back to the pits.
14:40 A good lap from Ricciardo puts him third fastest behind the Mercedes drivers.
14:38 Stroll is not happy and reports that Grosjean "doesn't watch out for me so why should I watch for him" as they play in the traffic.
14:36 Hamilton backed off on his opening flier before laying down a personal best in the first sector, pips Bottas in the second and crosses the line with a 1:09.515 to go fastest.
14:35 Bottas may not be P1 for much longer as here comes Hamilton on the red-marked Pirellis.
14:33 Vettel has gone P3 on his supersoft tyre run while Bottas goes quickest by 0.179s ahead of Hamilton.
14:31 A resigned Alonso is back in the pits, gloves and helmet off, and Honda are looking at his car. Yikes, not great... get the man a deck chair.
14:29 Vettel heads out on a set of supersoft Pirellis, followed out by Bottas.
14:25 Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull are holding down the top six places with Massa - competing in his final Brazilian GP, again - best of the rest.
14:22 Hamilton has lowered the benchmark to a 1:09.742 to extend his advantage to 0.118s.
14:19 P1 for Hamilton with a 1:09.792, that puts him 0.068s.
14:18 Grosjean locks up and reports a lot of front-locking to his Haas team.
14:16 Hamilton and Ricciardo are out on track for their first run of the afternoon.
14:14 Here comes Verstappen with a fastest middle sector and he goes quickest of all with a 1:10.2, but that's beaten by Bottas by 0.010s.
14:13 Raikkonen heads into the pits after seven laps as Vettel ups his pace but remains second. He is 0.072s down on his Finnish team-mate.
14:12 Bottas and Verstappen have joined the action while Mercedes are busy strapping Hamilton into his W08.
14:11 Good news for Toro Rosso as Gasly has joined Hartley and both cars are putting in the laps without issue.
14:10 Another session and another wave from Vettel, this time it is to Grosjean.
14:09 The two Ferraris are leading the way, down in the 1:10s, ahead of Perez, Alonso and Grosjean. However, the likes of Mercedes and Red Bull have yet to come out to play.
14:07 Grosjean reports that his Haas is oversteering a lot.
14:04 Grosjean started proceedings with a 1:13 but that has been blitzed by Vettel with a 1:10.
14:03 Vettel, Alonso and Raikkonen join the action with Perez following them out. Yellow softs are the tyre of choice at the start of this session.
14:02 Romain Grosjean, Hartely and Antonio Giovanazzi - who is filling in for FP2 for Kevin Magnussen at Haas - head out.
14:00 Green light and off we go...
13:59 Air temperature is 29'C, the track is 50'C and there are clouds overhead but it doesn't look like the thunderstorm that was forecast.
13:55 Five minutes to the start of FP2...
13:49 This afternoon's session could be an interesting one as there is a 70-90 percent chance of rain midway through the session. And with qualifying expected to take place on a wet track, the drivers will have to go out to at least get a taste of what the circuit is like in the rain.
13:42 It wasn't a good start to the weekend for Toro Rosso with Brendon Hartley's engine failing while Pierre Gasly also had issues. They were slowest of all with Hartley not even setting a time. More bad news is that both drivers, along with Daniel Ricciardo, are facing grid penalties.
13:36 This morning's practice belonged to Mercedes with Lewis Hamilton leading home a 1-2 ahead of Valtteri Bottas while Kimi Raikkonen, P3, was half a second off the pace. The full top ten: 1 Lewis Hamilton Mercedes 1:09.202 SS; 2 Valtteri Bottas Mercedes 1:09.329 0.127 SS; 3 Kimi Raikkonen Ferrari 1:09.744 0.542 SS; 4 Max Verstappen Red Bull 1:09.750 0.548 SS; 5 Daniel Ricciardo Red Bull 1:09.828 0.626 SS; 6 Sebastian Vettel Ferrari 1:09.984 0.782 SS; 7 Felipe Massa Williams 1:10.102 0.9 SS; 8 Stoffel Vandoorne McLaren 1:10.402 1.2 SS; 9 Esteban Ocon Force India 1:10.454 1.252 SS; 10 Fernando Alonso McLaren 1:10.476 1.274 SS.
13:30 Welcome back to the Interlagos circuit for the second of Friday's two 90-minute practice sessions.
11:30 And there's the checkered flag. It's Mercedes in their usual top spots with Hamilton leading the way. Raikkonen is the next quickest, with Verstappen, Ricciardo and Vettel closing out the top 10. Meanwhile, it was a session to forget for Toro Rosso with both cars struck by engine troubles again. Join us again at 1330 local time for the build-up to FP2.
11:26 Still no signs of any late improvements. The highlight of the last 10 minutes being a bleeping Verstappen as he complains about the lack of grip with his tyres.
11:17 Confirmation that Daniel Ricciardo, Brendon Hartley and Pierre Gasly have all been hit with 10-place grid drops on Sunday. Yet there could be even more to come for the Toro Rosso duo given their troubles this morning.
11:10 Finally some track action again. It's Hamilton, Bottas and Raikkonen completing the top three at the moment.
11:05 Now there are lots of drivers back in the pits, including the top seven, as we head inside the final 30 minutes of the session.
11:02 Not much in the way of improvement on the leaderboard so long runs on high fuel appear to be on the agenda for many.
10:59 Almost a coming together between Hulkenberg and Hamilton, who are jockeying for space as they prepare for their latest hot laps. Hamilton is squeezed out onto the grass for his troubles.
10:56 There's barely anything left of Gasly's car in the Toro Rosso garage as it has been stripped apart limb from limb. Obvious engine trouble for the Frenchman so that is both STRs suffering power unit woe at the start of this weekend.
10:50 And Alonso is out there too and is quickly up to P7. So both late starters are now up and running.
10:46 We're coming out of the mid-session slumber now as here comes Ericsson in the Sauber.
10:42 We're approaching the halfway point of FP1, which means it is time to hand back those first sets of tyres. The track is clear at the moment as a result.
10:40 Still yet to set a time are Ericsson, Alonso and Hartley, of course, whose engine went up in smoke a little earlier.
10:37 And now we have our first track record as Hamilton improves by a couple of tenths on this opening soft tyre stint.
10:35 Debutant Russell is putting his timed laps in after six exploratory laps to ease his way in. He's up to P15 in the pink panther.
10:30 Hamilton goes off at the start of the Senna 'S' but, like Vettel's incident a few minutes ago, it's nothing more than a minor hiccup. He keeps it clean on the next lap, though, to move up to P1 with a 1:09.606 on soft tyres, three tenths quicker than Bottas.
10:29 Home favourite and the departing Massa is showing some good early pace. He's on the supersofts and goes up to P3, six tenths off Botta's best.
10:24 Plenty of times getting pumped in now with Bottas leading Hamilton and Vettel. The latter has just gone for a little spin at Turn 9 but his Ferrari is all ok and he can continue.
10:20 We've got yellow flags and it's because of more engine woe for Toro Rosso and Hartley. His car is coughing and spluttering all the way around the track, leaving a big cloud of smoke behind. He comes to a stop near the pit lane.
10:12 Verstappen gets into the 1:10 region, but so does Bottas. The Finn leapfrogs him into P1 by going a eight tenths quicker on the slower soft tyres. A 1:10.102 is the new benchmark but Ricciardo is the only other driver to set a timed lap at this stage.
10:07 Now Verstappen takes seven tenths off that time with his second attempt. It's a 1:11.4 in the books.
10:05 Usually it takes a good 15, 20 minutes to get the first timed lap on the board but there is no messing around this morning. Verstappen puts a 1:12.253 in on supersofts within the first five minutes.
10:03 Massa, Hamilton and Bottas will be the last ones to complete their installation laps.
10:02 Vettel, Ericsson, Alonso, Leclerc - running the Halo - and Ocon are also among the early risers.
10:00 And we're off. Installation laps will be the first order of the day.
09:58 "Can you give me a song or something?" says Ricciardo on team radio, as he patiently waits to get going.
09:55 Daniel Ricciardo is an eager beaver, or honey badger if you will, as he lines up at the pit lane exit with five minutes to go before the light goes green.
09:50 Antonio Giovinazzi was supposed to be in action for Haas this morning but, with the threat of rain this afternoon, Kevin Magnussen will get a run instead and Giovinazzi has been pushed back to FP2. There are still a couple of fresh faces, though, with GP3 champion George Russell driving the Force India this morning and F2 champion Charles Leclerc getting more time with Sauber.
09:45 It wouldn't be an FP1 commentary without bringing you news of those in line for a good, old-fashioned grid penalty this weekend due to new engine parts. The Renault-powered trio of Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly and birthday boy Brendon Hartley are all set to start at the back of the grid.
09:40 Both World Championships may be done and dusted, but there are still a few details to put in order before the season finishes. Sebastian Vettel or Valtteri Bottas can still finish second with 15 points currently separating the pair and Toro Rosso, Renault and Haas are separated by just six points in the Constructors' with lots of money up for grabs.
09:35 It is set to be a sunny start to proceedings in Brazil, but rain is forecast later this afternoon which could affect FP2 and there is more of the wet stuff on the way tomorrow for qualifying as it stands. Sunday's race, though, is forecast to be a dry one. Sorry, Max.
09:30 Hello and welcome to the start of the penultimate round of the 2017 season. We've jumped from Mexico to Brazil and we're limbering up for the first practice session of the day, which gets underway in 30 minutes. All times are local.
