Lewis from the start in Hungary

Budapest, Hungary - Apart from pit stops, McLaren's Lewis Hamilton led the 2012 Hungarian F1 GP from start to finish, closely monitored by Romain Grosjean (Lotus) until Kimi Raikkonen (also Lotus) forced his way past his team mate and into second around lap 45.

Hamilton started from pole and was never really challenged until Raikkonen stuck to his tail over the last dozen laps and stayed there to the end. It was Hamilton's third win at the track - but all power to Lotus for taking the remaining podium places.

START ABORTED

Raikkonen's challenge was nail-biting stuff - would Hamilton make an error with a few laps left, would Kimi push too hard and lose it? Neither happened and Hamilton took a well-deserved top spot on the podium.

After a fantastic performance in qualifying on Saturday, Hamilton put his disappointing showing in his 100th GP at Hockenheim the previous weekend firmly behind him.

Spain's Fernando Alonso of Ferrari finished fifth on his 31st birthday, behind defending World champion Sebastien Vettel of Red Bull, but good enough to maintain his lead in the World championship standings going into F1's summer break.

The first lap of the race was aborted for a restart after Michael Schumacher stalled on the grid. He joined the race from the pits lane.

McLaren's Jenson Button won the race in 2011.
