Lewis Hamilton on Thursday laughed off his father's crash at the wheel of a $600 000 sports car.

On Wednesday, Anthony Hamilton - who is also the 23-year-old McLaren driver's manager - crashed a borrowed Porsche Carrera GT through a hedge and into a children's playground near his UK home.

"I got Dad's email yesterday and I just laughed," Hamilton was quoted as saying from the scene of the Canadian Grand Prix by The Sun.

"He is a very good driver but I don't know what he was up to," the championship leader added.

To The Mirror, Lewis also said, "My dad's my manager and loves cars. But, whenever we go somewhere, I'd always rather go by train.
