LONDON, England - Only four teams will take part in Pirelli's Formula 1 tyre test in Bahrain on December 17 - 19: McLaren and Force India will not be there.
A Force India spokesman said: "The timescale was just too tight to make it."
McLaren, half-owned by Bahrain's sovereign wealth fund Mumtalakat, confirmed separately that it would not go.
SPECIAL PERMISSION
A Pirelli spokeswoman said Ferrari, Mercedes, 2013 champion team Red Bull and sister team Toro Rosso would attend the December 17-19 session at the Sakhir circuit to test the Italian supplier's 2014 tyres.
The governing International Automobile Federation had announced on Monday (Dec 9) that all six teams had accepted an invitation to test.
Pirelli had sought special permission to test to get as much feedback as possible about their planned 2014 tyres after having to revise those of 2013 after a number of blowouts during the British GP weekend in June.
The first regular pre-season test with all the teams will be in Jerez, Spain, at the end of January 2014.
