Ferrari's Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso is the third-highest international earner in sport, according to US Sports Illustrated.

Alonso's estimated R389-million in 2013 includes retainers and endorsements.

The Ferrari ace reportedly earns more than Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and FC Barcelona rival Lionel Messi (R324-million), according to the international list.

Formula 1's next representative, coming in at 11th on the list with almost R222-million, is Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, while retired Michael Schumacher is still raking it in with just under R185-million.
