NOALE , Italy - Italian motorcycle manufacturer Aprilia has transformed the riding experience for its smartphone-crazy customers with the V4-MP app.

An advanced version of their app allows a smartphone to communicate with the RSV4 and is available as an accessory item, it is available on both iOS and Android

This means being able to adapt changes to the settings for wheelie control or traction control from the convenience of your smartphone.

Another cool component, part of the "Adaptive Race Assist"feature allows riders to receive real-time tips on how to improve their lap times.  The application will compare in real time the rider's best lap with his current lap and indicate if you need to brake or open the throttle to achieve better lap times.

Riders can now adjust setting  sector by sector, if they feel wheelie control and traction control need to be reduced.

The V4-MP system uses the satellite navigation feature of your phone to recognize your location on the track, and then can adjust the traction control and wheelie control settings, corner by corner, based on parameters selected prior to entering the track.

The V4-MP app features a "virtual" dashboard that lets you use your smartphone's display, including information gathered by the bike's telemetry, including longitudinal and lateral acceleration, lean angle, instant power and torque distributed to the driveshaft, percentage of power available, rear wheel slippage.

Craig Langton Sales Director of Aprilia SA said: “This is a first for the industry and is really out of this world.”

The app is standard on the RF model and the first 20 customers who purchase an RR will receive the unit, valued at R 20 000, free of charge.
