London - A former soldier who had part of his leg amputated 10 years ago was killed in a British Superbike championship race on Sunday, officials said.
Mark Fincham, 37, sustained serious injuries after a two-bike collision at the Thruxton circuit in southern England.
"It is with great regret that we have to announce that Mark Fincham succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment," said a statement by organisers.
According to Motorcycle News, Fincham was a former Royal Marine who had part of his left leg amputated after a road accident in 2007.
He was racing for the True Heroes team which gives injured military personnel and veterans the chance to take part in motor racing, using modified bikes.
