South African rider, Brad Binder, made an impressive start to his MotoGP career. Having qualified in eleventh place, Binder made quick work of the drivers ahead of him to end the first lap in eighth place. Though the race did not go entirely to plan, Binder nonetheless made an impression on the race.

After five laps, Binder dropped from seventh to 18th, putting him 30 seconds behind the race leaders. That did very little to deter 'our' man as he began a brilliant fight to eventually finish the race in 12th place.

Binder also clocked a fastest lap during the race.

AFP reported Fabio Quartararo became the first French rider to win a Moto Grand Prix since 1999 as he took the flag in the season-opening race in Spain on Sunday.

Quartararo, 21, who rides for the Yamaha satellite outfit, had started on pole position and his biggest threat, reigning world champion Marc Marquez, crashed out on lap 20.

Fan favourites Yamaha's Valentino Rossi pulled out of the race in Lap19.

Marc Marquez suffered a devastating blow as he crashed out during the last few laps of the race. Marquez had been in first place when he crashed much earlier in the race on Turn 4, and had exceptional pace working his way through the grid and managed to get himself back for a positive podium finish.

Sadly the Honda-Repsol rider made another error and crashed out at the same corner. He was seen holding his wrist and strapped in an neck brace before being put in an ambulance. We send him well wishes and hope to see him back on the track soon.
