Scheduled to be launched to the public at the EICMA show in Milan this November, the striking 796 packs all the appeal of the 1100 Hypermotard, only in a much punchier package.
Since first reporting on the new Ducati addition, we have managed to get our hands on some more details of the newcomer as well as a promotional video.
Details
Weight: Weighing in at just 167kg, the 796 is 12kg lighter than 1100 thanks a smaller engine and lightweight construction.
Seat: Standing 825mm tall, the 796’s saddle is 20mm lower than the 1100’s, which is certain to appeal to shorter and female riders
Engine: Powered by a 803cm3 Monster 696 derived powersource, the 796 develops 59.6kW of power while torque peaks at 75.5Nm
Bore/stroke: The brand new 796 engine has a bore and stroke of 88mm x 66mm and conforms to Euro3 regulations
Clutch: One big advantage of the new model is its wet slipper clutch which is great for smooth down-shifting when rushing into a bend, and helps to keep the rear-end from becoming destabilised. It also creates a super-light clutch lever feel.
