Earlier in 2011 we showed you a first glimpse of Erik Buell’s new EBR 1190RS road bike. Now we’ve got our gloves on the first official images of the new bike – and what a stunner it is.
With only 100 units expected to be hand-built in 2011, Buell is pitching the 1190RS at the likes of Ducati’s 1198R in terms of both price and specifications.
It's powered by a bored-out version of the 1125R’s Rotax engine but is expected to produce 10% to 15% less power than its RR race bike sibling’s 138kW.
All the engine’s components come from either the Buell Superbike programme or have been replaced by one that is very closely related to such a part – which guarantees a very high pedigree.
High-quality components, including titanium valves, Öhlins suspension and specially cast rims, also mean the bike can be ridden hard during track days without reliability issues.
The EBR 1190RS made its public debut at last weekend’s Dealer Expo in Indianapolis in the US and the first units are due for delivery in March, 2011.
