Suzuki has revealed details of its coming-in-2012 flagship superbike – the GSX-R1000.
The bike, the company says, has enhanced capability thanks to being lighter and to technical innovation that provides better engine and chassis performance.
The 2012 GSX-R1000 retains its original styling but with a host of revisions, Suzuki says, “to make this the very best GSX-R1000 yet produced”.
TECH HIGHLIGHTS
The new GSX-R is two kilograms lighter than its predecessor and comes with Brembo’s awesome Monoblock brake callipers and engine revisions that provide more mid-range power.
Engine technical highlights include the adoption of MotoGP-derived pistons that are 11% lighter and aid acceleration and overall performance.
“This, combined with a finer material for engine tappets which shaves 2.5g per per tappet,” Suzuki adds, “has resulted in optimised valve lift with a revised exhaust cam profile for a slight reduction in valve overlap.
“The compression ratio has risen from 12.8:1 to 12.9:1.”
PROVEN PERFORMER
Further chassis enhancements promise greater manoeuvrability through lighter front wheel and axle and the classic lightweight 4-2-1 exhaust returns to save more weight, partly due to a titanium silencer.
The current GSX-R1000 is a proven track performer (missing the British Superbike title by only 0.006sec) and current holder of the Brands Hatch Superbike lap record.
The 2012 GSX-R1000 will make its European debut on the Suzuki stand at the Eicma International Motorcycle Exhibition in Milan on November 8, 2011.
