LONDON, England - Shark Helmets will be at Motorcycle Live in the UK from Nov 24-Dec 2 with its new collection of bike crash-helmets... some stunning stuff.
As well as brand-new helmets, Shark has created divisions for each model range; Racing, Pulse, Discovery and Metro.
Racing Division
The Race–R PRO Carbon is Shark’s new top-of-the-range helmet for 2013. Given the success of the RSR2, Shark decided to create a carbon version of its premium helmet the Race–R PRO which superseded the RSR2 in 2011. Racers, including Michael Laverty, Sam Lowes, Stefan Bradl and Tom Sykes, all wear the this helmet in , MotoGP and Superbike racing.
The Carbon PRO has a noise reduction of 4.5db(A) compared to the current Race-R PRO. The helmet weighs 1250g and has superb aerodynamics, according to shark, thanks to its shape and rear spoiler. It has a five-star protection rating and a bamboo fibre interior.
The helmet cost the equivalent of about R6700.
Discovery Division
Another new carbon helmet for 2013 is the Vision–R GT Carbon, an upgrade of the Vision–R. The GT has a bamboo-fibre interior and an air pump to ensure a perfect fit. By adding carbon/aramid the weight of the helmet decreased by 150g and now weighs 1390g.
Like the Carbon PRO (above), the GT has noise reduction of 2.3db(A) less than the Vision-R. The helmet also has easy fit for spectacle wearers - a cutout each side to take the sight aids. The Vision–R GT Carbon comes in various colours from the equivalent of R4900.
Metro Division
A completely new design for the company; the Raw is a jet helmet for urban riding with a protection mask and quick-release goggles. It weighs 1300g, has the easy-fit feature, bamboo-fibre interior and a ventilation system. It's available in a variety of designs from R2600.
Another new helmet in the Metro division is the Shark Nano, a super-sleek and stylish open jet helmet. The visor is a VZ140 “long trip” that has air inlet diffusers for faster de-fogging. As well as the easy fit, the helmet also has an easy to use built in sun visor and a bamboo=fibre interior. The Nano is available in a host of designs and priced from the equivalent of R2100
Apart from the above new helmets, Shark has introduced new colours on the existing models and all visors have a Pinlock option.
