Harley-Davidson has decided to stagger the launch of its 2012 models, with the first batch being revealed now.
The biggest news is the introduction of two models: The Switchback, that can easily be switched into a toure, and the Night Rod Special Anniversary model, which will commemorate the 10th anniversary of Harley’s V-Rod range.
The bikemker will also be axing three models – The Softail Cross Bones, Softail Rocker and Street Glide Trike.
The 2012 Sportster line-up's six models will showcase bikes ranging from the affordable Iron 883 to the track-inspired performance-orienatted XR1200X.
CUSTOMISED RIDE
The Sportster 1200 Custom returns for its full year of production and still boasts the same smorgasbord of options to help riders personalise their ride.
All 2012 Sportster models will be treated to Michelin Scorche tyres which will now feature a tread pattern specially designed for the Sportster to provide better grip and a longer life.
Each of the eight Touring models is treated to a Twin Cam 103 engine with auto compression release and an oil cooler for 2012. The new engine produces a 138Nm of torque at 3500rpm.
All Touring models, with the exception of the Ultra Limited, will offer a new tubeless aluminium wheel for easier tyre replacement and repair. Six new colours or colour combinations are included in the 12 paint options offered within the 2012 Touring model range.
