New turbo models from Audi

Buyers can now order the A4 1.8T (140 kW) with Audi's mutitronic continuously variable transmission system, while an Avant version is now also available.

The new A4 1.8T (140 kW) multitronic sedan retails for R288 500. The six-speed manual 1.8T (140 kW) Avant sells for R290 000 and the multitronic Avant for R304 500.

Pricing includes a five-year or 100 000 km Freeway maintenance plan.

Externally, these 140 kW models have lowered sports suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 235 section rubber.

Colour coded

The bumpers are colour coded and at the back there's a red "T" behind the 1.8 badge. Avant models have brushed aluminium roof rails.

Inside there are front sports seats with electrically operated lumbar support, as well as a leather covered three spoke sports steering wheel with a four-spoke multi-function steering wheel available as an option.

Other features iInclude dual zone climate control air-conditioning, a six-speaker Concert CD-based sound system, driver information system trip computer with service schedule indicator (DIS), remote central locking, power assisted steering, full leather upholstery and electrically operated windows and side mirrors.

Power comes from Audi's tried and tested 1,8-litre turbo-charged engine with intercooler. Power output is rated at 140 kW at 5 700 r/min and 240 Nm of torque between 1 980 and 5 400 r/min.

Claimed 0-100 km/h acceleration time for the six-speed manual is 8.2 seconds with top speed 240km/h. The Avant manual is 0.2 seconds slower to 100, but has the same top speed as the sedan

Audi says the multitronic sedan will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 sec and the Avant in 8.0 sec. Top speed is 240 km/h for both sedan and Avant.
