accreditation
Certain vehicles are to be launched locally in the near future while others fall into the medium term plan of the South African marketing plan. Serving as the ultimate showcase for the latest developments in the motor industry.

The expo will see Fiat Auto South Africa unveil the Multipla 1.9 JTD ELX and Ulysse 2.2 JTD ELX from the Fiat range of vehicles, as well as the Alfa 156 GTA from the Alfa Romeo stable.

True to Fiat's brand values, the Multipla and Ulysse both embrace the qualities of the brand that are joyful, innovative, spirited and easy, while the 156 GTA epitomises Alfa Romeo's beauty and power.

The Alfa 156 GTA is equipped with the powerful 3.2 V6 24V capable of a power output of 184 kW and 300 Nm of torque. The torque curve reaches such high levels at low speeds that the car can be driven in sixth gear at less than 2000 rpm, yet can still sprint away without changing gear.

The new Fiat Multipla, recently improved by the addition of new standard equipment items, will be shown in the ELX specification with a 85 kW 1.9 JTD ELX power unit - this ensures low fuel consumption, outstanding performance and a balanced, flexible and satisfying drive.

The car has been further improved with a suspension system better able to absorb road roughness, while rear disc brakes are also a feature.

Latest-generation sensors modulate airbag intervention according to passenger weight and mass, while side airbags safeguard occupants' heads in case of side impact.

Also on show at Auto Africa 2002, the new Fiat Ulysse 2.2 JTD ELX is the ultimate people carrier for those wanting a comfortable, roomy, versatile MPV with more passenger room and improved comfort.

Equipped with a 94kW 2.2 16v JTD engine, it comes with a series of safety, comfort and telematic devices.

According to Fiat Auto South Africa's Director for Commercial Operations, Greg Levine, the exhibition of these vehicles is in alignment with the company's progressive expansion programme.

"It is also a fantastic opportunity for the company to express its commitment to the local market."
