Both cars are very important models for the German car manufacturer. The Audi A4 Cabriolet fills the gap left by the demise of the previous Cabriolet, which sold from 1992 to 1999.

The new topless Audi has front-wheel-drive and the car as the same aluminium suspension as the A4 sedan.

Both manual transmission as well as Audi's CVT Multitronic clutchless gear shift, which becomes automatic with a slight push to the side, will be available.

The engine range for the Audi cabriolet includes a 2.4-litre V6 and a 164kW 3-litre power train.

New A8

The long awaited Audi A8 is also at Auto Africa. This car will take on the BMW 7-series and Mercedes S-Class.

It has a low-weight aluminium body using the Audi Space Frame principle. Quattro permanent four-wheel-drive is also standard.

Two powerful V8 engines - a 4.2-litre version with an output of 246kW and a 206kW 3.7-litre version - is available. It is expected that a diesel power train will also become available.
