Johannesburg - The venerable BMW 5 Series is a finalist in the 2018 WesBank South African Car of the Year competition, and will be going head-to-head with some highly accomplished luxury sedans, such as the brilliant Volvo S90.
Our model on test is the BMW 520d, which is super-sophisticated, powerful (enough) and designed to keep fuel costs low.
Luxury Line
Its powerplant is a smooth, two-litre turbo-diesel with 140kW and 400Nm of torque, which returns a claimed consumption of a mere 4.7 litres/100km on the combined cycle.
This Luxury Line variant comes with a host of optional extras such as a display key, parking assist plus, gesture control, multi-function instrument display, and BMW’s Navigation System Professional, among others.
Get to know the BMW 520d a little better with Chad Lückhoff, as he drives this German über-sedan.
