Lynch jnr to take reins at Hyundai SA

Changes at the top in Hyundai Aitomotive SA... Niall Lynch is to take over as chief executive officer in July 2016, replacing Alan Ross who has served as executive team leader for 15 years.

Lynch, MD of Renault SA since December 2013, will serve as CEO designate of Hyundai Automotive SA from January 12016, reporting to Ross until his appointment as CEO of Hyundai Automotive SA on July 1 2016.

Niall Lynch is the son of the late Bill Lynch who led Imperial Holdings as CEO until just before his death in 2008.

'NEW LEADERS' PROGRAMME

The changes, announced by Mark Lamberti, Group CEO of Imperial Holdings, arose from "succession and developmental requirements, and following an extensive recruitment and assessment process".

Lamberti added: "These appointments signal lmperial's intent to develop a new generation of high-calibre leaders and, whenever possible, to do so through internal appointments."

When Ross retires as CEO of Hyundai Automotive SA on June 30 2016, a corporate statement said, he will become non-executive chairman of the board of Hyundai Automotive SA. He will then take responsibility for transport, logistics, insurance and Bid 4 Cars.

Hyundai dealers will report to him until December 31 2016.

FRANCHISE DIRECTOR

Niall Lynch started his career in 1999 at ING Barings Bank in London, England, as a mergers and acquisition analyst with a B.Com and MBS from the University of South Africa and University College Dublin respectively.

He returned to South Africa to join Imperial as franchise director for Renault retail operations in 2003.

In 2008 he joined Eqstra as director of investor relations and strategy before returning to Imperial in 2009 to hold franchise director positions with Honda, Ford/Mazda, and Jaguar Land Rover.
