The Road Traffic Management Corporation has released a list of high-accident routes in SA. We've included a map of the high-risk routes at the end of this article.

'Killer roads in South Africa'

The RTMC said: "South Africa's road safety record remains unacceptably high with about 14 000 people losing their lives per annum as a result of road crashes.

"Through careful analysis of accidents reports, the RTMC has identified routes that are responsible for most fatal crashes in all provinces. The following are among other routes identified as killer roads in South Africa."
