Munich - Earlier in 2017, BMW launched its new 5-Series premium sedan in South Africa. The launch of its executive sedan is the first of many new additions to its local range, set to arrive later in 2017.
In April 2017, Wheels24 drove the facelifted BMW 440i and 430i, as well as a BMW 530e i-Performance and the all new BMW M550i in in Germany.
New 4 Series
The BMW 4-Series has sold well for BMW, clocking up more than 400 000 sales, with more than 50% of sales in the US and the UK, and, interestingly, with more than half of these being the Gran Coupe four-door model.
Plug-in hybrid 5 Series
The BMW 530e i-Performance is the latest in BMW’s assault on the plug-in hybrid market. Equipped with an electric motor and a two-litre petrol motor, BMW claims some extraordinary fuel consumption figures for this car.
M550i X-Drive
We also drove the BMW M550i X-Drive, which will sadly not be coming to South Africa as it is not available in right-hand drive yet, but a drive in a V8 5-Series with 340kW might give some direction as to how an eventual M5 might feel.
