Porsche controversial four-door supercar, the Panamera, is gaining impressive sales momentum despite the consequences of last year’s economic meltdown.
The 10 000th unit of Porsche’s first four-door sedan has been assembled at the Leipzig plant, an impressive tally for a car which has only been on sale for three months.
Ready for dispatching to its owner, a customer in Singapore (where they’ll drive it, we don’t know), the landmark 10 000th Panamera is a platinum silver metallic Turbo.
The breakdown of those 10 000 Panameras sold thus far sees the Panamera 4S as the most popular model (accounting for 44% of sales), followed by the Turbo (36%).
Peculiarly, yet hardly surprisingly considering its premium billing and image appeal, the entry level Panamera S is the least popular model - tallying only 20% of sales despite being the cheapest.
Porsche’s aim is to sell 20 000 units of the Panamera annually.
