MERCEDES AND CONCORDE

accreditation

Autosport reported that parent company DaimlerChrysler's new CEO, Eckhard Cordes, had - at least - met with the F1 'impresario'.

"(Cordes was in Spain) ... to attend a meeting of the manufacturers," McLaren's 'F1 CEO' Martin Whitmarsh explained.

Sure enough, the carmakers' group - also including BMW, Renault, Honda and Toyota - announced, a little later, that they had set up a new alliance.

Whitmarsh then continued: "It shows how ill-informed people who start these rumours are.

"I heard the rumour before the weekend and I didn't even ask him about it because it's not credible." -GMM
