A Wheels24 reader sent us a video of a motorcyclist with a dog riding on the fuel tank. Another reader says Jack the Pillion Pooch “loves the bike” and "is as safe as he would be in a car".
This video of a dog on a hog near Century City, Cape Town shows him sitting in front of the rider was sent in by a Wheels24 reader.
Video: Rider's pillion pup
Wheels24 reader MARTHA BRINK says the dog, called Jack, has been riding on a bike since he was a pup:
The “owner” of the dog does not have internet or email, so he cannot respond to Wheels24. I can assure readers that all of us who know him will tell him about it and I’m sure he will be shown the video.
The dog in question is Jack. He has been going on the bike since he was a pup. He ‘holds’ on to the petrol cap with his paws. He loves the bike. It cannot move without him. He is as safe/vulnerable as he would be in a car.
How come nobody says anything when a dog is on the back of a bakkie, or in a car with its head sticking out the window? Is it really that much different?
What about all the children in the front seats of cars, not strapped in? Or anywhere in a car not strapped in?
