Cape Town - McLaren say their 570S is an entry-level sports car, however it uses the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo engine as its 650S sibling and has a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.2 seconds and rockets to a top speed of 328km/h.
High-strength carbon tub reduces weight
The engine is located behind the cabin and a carbon-fibre tub reduces weight (1451kg) and adds strength.
When I drove the 570S in August, the sports car felt seriously quick on the road and although I never had the chance to put it through its paces on track, I'm keen to see how fast it is on a smooth stretch of tarmac.

Fortunately UK motoring publication Evo managed to set a lap time with the 419kW light-weight sports car at the Anglesey race circuit. The video shows just how rapid the 570S is, and more importantly, where it stacks up against its rival on its leaderboard.
