How did this happen?! Bakkie's cabin flies off frame in huge crash

Pelham - A bakkie's cabin flew off its frame in a huge accident in Pelham, Alabama, with the driver just about able to crawl out of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old female, suffered minor injuries after losing control of her 2002 Chevrolet 1500 bakkie.

The Pelham Police and Department released a statement of the incident: 

"On September 28th, 2017 at approximately 2:43pm the Pelham Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the area of 617 Mammoth Road for a report of a motor vehicle rollover. 

"Upon arrival officers found a 2002 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck with extensive damage.

"The cab of the truck was completely separated from the frame.  The operator, Danielle Taylor, age 21 of Lowell, Ma was able to crawl out of the vehicle on her own. 

"She suffered only minor injuries in the accident.  The operator indicated she felt the steering wheel begin to shake just prior to losing control.  It appears that the accident was the result of mechanical failure.

 "Mammoth Road was shut down for approximately one hour while crews worked to remove the vehicle.  The accident is still under investigation."
