London - If you were fortunate enough to own a Super Nintendo back in 1992, you would've enjoyed everybody's favourite mushroom-stopping plumber, Mario, get behind the wheel of a go-kart for one of the most popular racing franchises to date - Mario Kart.

Throughout the decades, Mario Kart has remained an insanely fun series with great gameplay, quirky tracks and fantastic multiplayer.

Being smashed off-track courtesy of an errant turtle shell or grabbing a star power-up in the nick of time to win a race is the stuff legendary gaming moments are made of.

With the launch of the new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe being released for the Nintendo Switch, the guys at SelectCarLeasing  created an awesome infographic of tracking the history of the series.

SelectCarLeasing said: "With the new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe being released for the brand-new Nintendo Switch, we thought we'd take this opportunity to look back at this amazing video game franchise and go on a bit of a nostalgia trip and see how they've developed and evolved over time.
