San Francisco – Here’s a challenge for drivers seeking internet fame; drive around your neighborhood, find a basketball hoop and perform an epic dunk.
While it may seem pretty straight forward, the #DriveByDunkChallenge is shaping up to be the next viral car-video sensation.
Going viral
A video was posted to Instagram on Tuesday (July 19) by user @t.currie and swiftly racked up more than 50k views.
The video was then shared by Bleacher report — a San Francisco-based sports news website — on one of its Instagram accounts and has since been viewed 1.4 million times.
Are you up for the dunk challenge?
The challenge has turned into a kind of viral sensation with people around the globe taking advantage of their neighbour’s basketball hoops in an attempt to show off their dunking skills.
While the #DriveByDunkChallange is certainly something that any driver can take part in, provided it’s done in safety, NBA star Anthony Davids gave the challenge a go on Thursday.
His video has already been reposted through a number of platforms, and viewed more than 500 000 times in a matter of hours on popular Instagram accounts such as @TheScore and @BleacherReport.

The question; is this just another fad likely to die out before it really takes off or will it take the world by storm like so many other viral sensations before it?
