CAPE TOWN. South Africa - BMW closed part of the Cape Town CBD to film what it calls an 'Epic Driftmob' involving its 2 Series Coupe range-topper, the M235i, and several stunt drivers.

The video, part of a thrilling instalment in its #BMWstories series, shows its M235i Coupe being driven by some of the world’s top stunt men and professional drifters, among them Rhys Millen, Dai Yoshihara, Conrad Grunewald, Sam Huninette and Rich Rutherford.

There's even a cameo by South African model/actress Tanya van Graan.

'90 SECONDS PLEASURE'

According to BMW: "Is it possible to make a drift-choreography in a rotary traffic? We took some Hollywood stunt drivers and added the same amount of BMW M235i cars. The result: about 90 seconds of driving pleasure and smoking tyres.

"Please note that all these driving-scenes are real. To avoid accidents, we had to block the road."

BMW's range-topping 2-Series, the M235i Coupe, is powered by an 3.0-litre inline-six TwinPower turbo capable of 240kW/450Nm and mated to an eight-speed auto.

The M235i Coupe will be replaced by a 'true' M2 in 2015 or early 2016, rumored to be powered by a 279kW turbo inline-six.

BEHIND THE SCENES

The automaker published a great behind-the-scenes look of it video and said"

"It took some days of preparation to make 'Epic Driftmob'. Have a look behind the scenes to see how professional stunt drivers such as Riley Harper, Rhys Millen, Samuel Hübinette, Conrad Grunewald, Rich Rutherford and Dai Yoshihara prepared for this event."
