CENTRAL CITY, Colorado - Ever wanted the sensation of feeling like you're driving in a racing video game?

A video posted by YouTube user Weston P22, shows how a simple smartphone app can add race telemetry while you're recording your ride.

The driver, behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Corvette G6, used the app Track Addict HD (only available for iOS) to record great footage of a spirited ride at the 2014 Pit Rally in Colorado, US. In the clip you can watch as he chases a Corvette pace car.

GREAT POV CHASE

The video shows a speedometer and rev-counter, gear selection and when the driver applies the brakes and throttle. There is also an indicator with the altitude illustrated in the top-right corner.

According to the driver: "(I was) chasing a GO4IT Racing Corvette (pace car) in my street C6 Corvette on Central City Parkway in Colorado during the 2014 PIT Rally. Hit a top speed of 225km/h, averaging 167km/h over 11km and 400m of overall elevation.

"I was admittedly a little hesitant around some of those blind turns!

"The front video and data recorded by TrackAddict HD on an iPhone 5, with optional OBD-II interface add-on. The rear video is from a ReplayXD 720. The video and data overlays as well as picture-in-picture was produced with RaceRender 3."

It's all very cool and makes one think of playing video racing games such as Gran Turismo or Need for Speed.

HIT A TOP SPEED OF 225 KM/H

The Pit Rally took place on Saturday (August 2 2014) and combines 23 turns over 11km, with a rise of over 750m, through the town of Central City, Colorado.

According to oragnisers: "Who wouldn’t want to race on this road? With speeds reaching in excess of 240km/h, you can finally drive your car the way it was meant to be driven."

It certainly looks like one of the most picturesque races we've seen yet.
