Shell SA launched two new fuels designed, the company says, "to get car engines purring and drivers’ hearts racing".
Shell V-Power Nitro+ Petrol and Shell V-Power Nitro+ Diesel are the company’s most advanced premium fuels, designed, it says, to improve performance and "instantly get to work inside your engine on deposits that can reduce performance*.
Shell V-Power Nitro+ Petrol technology comes, Shell adds, with "a racing seal of approval" having been developed as part of a Shell technical partnership with Ferrari and replaces the previous V-Power products.
Debbie Foley, Shell SA' retail marketing manager, said: “A technical partnership with Ferrari allows our scientists to develop petrol technology that will deliver improved performance - and then put it through rigorous testing in F1 "
DIESEL VERSION, TOO
The secret behind Shell V-Power Nitro+ Petrol is, the fuel-maker explains, "friction modification technology", which has been tested on the track with Scuderia Ferrari and "should instantly reduce friction in critical engine areas to help the engine deliver more power".
There's also a version for compression ignition engines, Shell V-Power Nitro+ Diesel, which contains extra increased detergents for fast and more effective cleaning of diesel fuel-injection systems.
A global team of scientists, Shell says, works to innovate Shell premium fuels to give improved engine performance through advanced technology.
To mark the launch, Shell is running a number promotional activities at fuel stations.
100 YEARS OF FUELS
Farouk Farista, Shell SA's retail manager, explained: “Shell has been developing fuels for more than 100 years – and we never stop looking for ways to innovate and bring new benefits to our customers. Shell V-Power Nitro+ fuels are the latest step in that journey and another landmark for Shell since we launched Shell V-Power fuels eight years ago.”
Shell V-Power Nitro+ fuels are now available at Shell fuel stations across South Africa.
24-HOUR STORES
Shell SA has also gone into partnership with Spar SA to put 24-hour convenience shops on its forecourts under a 'Spar Express' franchise. The first has opened at the Shell Lambton Gardens service station in Wadeville, Gauteng.
Shell and Spar International have already partnered in Germany and Austria.
