NURBURGRING, Germany – Chevrolet is putting its Corvette Stingray through its paces in Germany ahead of the new coupe being launched in Europe.

Video: Corvette testing in Europe

General Motors vehicle dynamics engineer Jim Mero said: "Nurburgring is renowned for its demanding race track and it is perfect for our purpose, which was to fine-tune the ride and handling of the European Corvette Stingray.

"We're paying particular attention to the suspension set-up and the steering at Nurburgring. European roads are distinctly different to those in the US; so are driving habits."

VARIETY OF ROADS

The new  Corvette is powered by a monster 6.2 V8 capable of 343kW/630Nm.

Chevrolet's technical experts are assessing two Stingrays in Europe and each is being driven on a variety of roads. It's all, GM says, part of the its quality control programme conducted for every new Chevrolet model before it reaches showrooms in Europe.

The tests are being documented by Patrick Herrmann, technical manager at Chevrolet Europe.
