Trendline? Highline? Your call!

Just as diverse as the new Volkswagen Amarok’s many uses are the options offered on the Trendline and Highline models.

A high level of standard safety features is provided in all models of the Amarok. Highline models not only protect their occupants with two front airbags but also head/thorax bags – restraint systems that are still rare in the bakkie segment.

Special sensors at the vehicle’s front and side reliably trigger preventive protective measures in an offset crash. The telescoping steering column is designed to absorb crash energy to reduce the risk of injury to the driver.

Standard equipment includes three-point belts (driver’s seat also has visual and acoustic belt warning) as well as height-adjustable head restraints for each seat. The outer rear seats have child-seat anchors.

AMAROK TRENDLINE: Ideal for recreation and work

The Trendline equipment line of the Volkswagen Amarok will appeal to customers who use their bakkie for business and leisure as well as those who value convenience, comfort and a modest appearance. These needs are already visually met by the front spoiler, door handles and outside mirrors that are painted in car colour as well as a contrasting black rear bumper.

Beautifully sculpted 16” alloy wheels (“Taruma” type) with wide-profile 245/70 tyres and front fog lights – also standard features – further emphasise the confident and bold appearance of this all-round vehicle.

NOTHING MISSING: The Amarok's fascia is way high-tech.

The double cab of the Amarok serves up some luxurious touches. The high-performance aircon with its electronic temperature control is as much a part of its standard equipment as the RCD 210 CD-radio system with four speakers in the fascia.

Cruise control

The window lifts and the heatable exterior mirrors – which house the audio system antennae as a standard feature – are electrically powered, and central locking by RF remote control is also on board. Beneath the front seats, additional hidden storage bins provide space for other accessories.

The cruise control system enhances driving comfort, especially on long journeys, while the multifunction display on the instrument panel supplies helpful supplemental information such as the distance to the next fuel  stop. At the same time, the ambiance benefits from seats in the modern “Trail” fabric pattern – available in Anthracite.

A leather package in Anthracite is available as an option.

AMAROK HIGHLINE: Lifestyle bakkie with luxurious details

At the top of the new model series, the Amarok Highline combines design elements that are as extrovert as they are confident and elegant, with especially high-end interior and exterior details. The exclusive top equipment line fulfils the wishes of customers who are looking for a load capable lifestyle bakkie with all of the practical advantages of a Volkswagen.

At first glance, the Highline sets itself apart from the Trendline.  For example, on its exterior fender flares and 17” aluminium wheels with 245/65 wide-profile tyres give it distinctive looks. Chrome accents for the front bumper and the outside mirrors and dark tinted privacy glass in the rear highlight its elegant style, as does the chrome-plated rear bumper.

SOUND POWER: The audio system on the Amarok is high-end.

Building upon the Trendline interior, the luxuriously equipped interior of the Highline shines with attractive details. For example, chrome decorates the trim of the gearshifter in the centre console, chrome surrounds of the air vents and lower steering wheel spoke.

The seats in the elegant “Endless” fabric pattern may be ordered in Anthracite and the same applies to the entire interior decor. The “Vienna” leather package is available as an option here; in this case in Anthracite.

Equipment lines

The RCD 310 CD-radio with its large display and MP3 capability offers a refined acoustic experience through its six factory installed loudspeakers in the Double Cab. And the standard Climatronic system provides for a comfortably balanced climate aboard.

In addition to the various equipment lines, Volkswagen also offers an abundant line up of extras and accessories for the Amarok. It begins with a choice of 18 or 19” alloy rims. Trendline customers can enjoy fender flares when they order their Amarok with factory installed 17, 18 or 19” wheels.

Along with these extensive features, an attractive accessories programe has been prepared for the new model from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. It includes numerous detailing components from a styling bar to running boards to cargo cover – which bakkie fans can use to further customise the look of their Amarok.

This includes what is known as a multi-connect point; it can be used to install a hands-free phone unit, ring-bracket cup holder, ashtray or other accessories.
