Situated in the Riverhorse Business Estate - one of KZN's fastest growing light industrial and commercial areas - SAC Durban was built at a cost approaching R2-million. The Estate is just off the North Coast N2, on the banks of the Umhlangane River, and can be reached from Durban by taking the Nandi off-ramp. The branch, which has grown rapidly since its official opening in November 2006, currently employs 12 people, and is managed by Roy Friday.
"This is an all-new, turnkey operation, so the customer base has had to be built up from scratch," explains Friday, who has vast experience in the motor industry, most recently as a dealer principal at a Honda franchise. "But we have rapidly built up a strong customer base, and aim for high customer retention by offering exceptional service."
"In addition, the workshop represents the state of the art in terms of diagnostic equipment and infrastructure, so we are well equipped to tune and service virtually any current generation car. We are also, on average, significantly cheaper than franchised dealers when it comes to our hourly labour rate."
The workshop is currently servicing about five cars per day, and in addition is averaging three conversions a week. The emphasis is largely on improved torque characteristics and SAC Durban is able to offer owners of recreational vehicle excellent solutions when it comes to improving towing ability and general driveability.
