The drop-top Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible
The 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Cabrio is positioned in the heart of the burgeoning South African Cabrio segment, and along with the Chrysler Crossfire Roadster makes Chrysler "America's Cabrio Company".
The Chrysler PT Cruiser Cabrio draws inspiration from the entire cabrio segment in addition to appealing to customers who may not have considered a cabrio viable, before now that is!
Says Guy Franken of DaimlerChrysler: "The most anticipated opening of the year has arrived!
"The Chrysler PT Cruiser Cabriolet has opened its roof to allow the fun, sun and good times in! The PT Cruiser is undoubtedly one of the best-looking cabrios, roof up or down.
"With PT Cruiser?s recent facelift, including the introduction of styling changes and some great engines, the lineup is now completed with the cabrio."
The 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Cabrio offers cool PT Cruiser styling with versatility and flexibility not found in other cabrio models
The Chrysler PT Cruiser Cabrio has distinctive PT Cruiser styling, making it both the cabrio to be in and the cabrio to be seen in
Only the Chrysler PT Cabrio offers the PT Cruiser's distinctive, one-of-a-kind styling that looks as good on the inside as it does on the outside
Besides its styling, the Chrysler PT Cruiser Cabrio is unique in the segment because it has the versatile Fold and Tumble™ rear seats and a pass-through luggage compartment
Driving experience shows that the Chrysler PT Cruiser Cabrio is extremely quiet with top up or down and offers a level of ride handling not typically found in the segment
The PT Cruiser Cabrio has received the refreshed front and rear fascias of it?s hard-top sibling for 2006, this includes the new "Face of Chrysler" front grille with the winged badge and chrome-accented horizontal bars, redesigned headlights with lower "scalloped" edge, modified taillights with white indicator lenses (amber bulbs) and front fog lights with an updated circular design standard on all models.
Not only does the look render the car immediately recognisable as a Chrysler, but also the unmistakeable PT Cruiser guise has confidently been retained.
The interior of the PT Cruiser Cabrio also acquires the all-new interior, including improved seat trim and fabrics incorporating sport contour trim outlines for improved lateral support.
The instrument panel has a satin silver finish and features larger more visible instrument cluster graphics with silver gauge faces, flush shutoff air vents and a Chrysler signature analog clock, made immortal on the 300C.
Also new for 2006, the audio system controls, hazard-warning switch and rear window controls are mounted higher in the centre console and all models are also fitted with MP3 compatible radios for the 2006 model year.
A redesigned, dampened door opening provides increased capacity for the glove box whilst a passenger grab handle has also been added to the left of the instrument panel to make it easier for passengers to get in and out of the vehicle.
The centre console with a sliding armrest and covered storage space replaces the previous seat-mounted armrests.
This console includes a battery-fed power outlet for cell-phone charging and two fold out cup holders for the rear seat passengers.
Convenience features for the PT Cruiser Cabrio include seats that may be configured in nine different ways and a six-way power adjustable driver?s seat with manual lumbar adjuster.
A further refinement is the Electronic Vehicle Information Centre (EVIC), which allows owners to customise and easily adjust their personal information settings.
The new EVIC includes a compass and exterior temperature display, audio information, fuel economy, distance to empty and elapsed time.
Improvements to the sealing around the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system, as well as added insulation in the dashboard reduce power train noise and give the PT Cruiser Cabrio a quiet, relaxed ride.
With 2.39 m3 of space, the Chrysler PT Cruiser Cabrio offers more interior cargo volume than many of its competitors.
In addition to its one-of-a-kind PT Cruiser styling, the Cabrio boasts a power soft top, 254 mm more rear legroom than its competitors, storage space large enough to fit at least two golf bags or similar lifestyle equipment and an exceptionally quiet ride.
