2013 Alfa Romeo 4C (Spy)
Images of Alfa-Romeo’s 4C have been snapped during testing outside a secret track in Italy. The new Alfa Romeo two-seater in our spy images is completely disguised under a black coating to hide details.
The 4C will be produced in 2013 at a rate of 2500 units per year in the Maserati factory in Modena, Italy, the same plant where the Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio are manufactured.
The model will be powered by the new centrally mounted 150kW 1.8 turbo engine powering the rear-wheels through a dual-clutch auto. The two-seater will have a hybrid chassis consisting of carbon-fibred materials and aluminium.
The weight of the new 4C is expected to be very low at approximately 850kg, which, combined with its 150kW output will enable the small sports coupe to sprint from 0-100 km/h in less than five seconds to a top speed of about 250 km/h.
The 4C will use a central carbon-fibred tank, a SMC body, a particular variant of glass-reinforced plastic, aluminium sub-frames and steel. The Alfa-Romeo 4C will be revealed at the 2013 International Geneva Motor Show in March. The 4C will hit the European market in 2013 and will be sold in the USA in 2014.
