Cold fronts and travellers in snow-bound cars were big news this past week and with more to come, Land Rover’s dished out some useful hints for drivers dealing with dramatic road conditions.
The advice dispensed by Land Rover need not apply only to drivers of its vehicles or similar 4x4s.
A FEW POINTERS
- Have a clear view of the road to see where roads may be flooded.
- Safety systems such as anti-lock brakes, electronic brake assist, traction control and stability control are useful. So, too, is an intelligent all-wheel drive system that automatically adjusts drive between the front and rear axles to achieve the best grip.
- In more challenging conditions, a system like Land Rover’s Terrain Response is useful to adapt the vehicle systems to cope with different on- and off-road environments.
- Camera systems that relay 360-degree footage of the area immediately around the vehicle will help the driver to plot a safe course in unfriendly environments.
