Firestone’s Destination All Terrain and Mud Terrain tyres for SUV's and light trucks are now available in South Africa.
The tyremaker says both have Bridgestone’s exclusive UNI-T Ultimate Tyre Technology.
The A/T is an SUV and light truck tyre specifically for all-terrain use but with good looks, too. Firestone says the tyre also has a good on-tar ride and will adapt to travel in wet or dry weather and give great confidence in rain.
Bridgestone’s O-bead improves uniformity and ride comfort with a single continuous strand of cable in the bead construction and, the company says, the Destination A/T produces noise-cancelling sound waves that significantly reduce tyre noise on-road.
Specialised tyres designed for serious mud use are often enormous, expensive and impractical but Firestone says the Destination M/T is an exception. It comes in 245/70 R18 and 275/70 R18 sizes and, like the A/T, is equally at home on tar as it is off. It flings mud out of its tread to maintain traction.
Wide, wraparound lugs and special tread element shapes and angles help deflect road hazards from the shoulder area as well as improve self-cleaning in mud.
