New look Mitsubishi Outlander

The Mitsubishi Outlander receives a fresh look for 2010 with changes to its appearance and more kit available.

The robust exterior look is enhanced with the addition of chrome moulding for the side windows and a chrome strip along the tailgate.

The colour palette has been expanded with three new colours: Cosmic Blue Mica, Red Metallic and Solid White.

The spacious cabin is now even more versatile with the addition of an extra glovebox on top of the dash with a cooling and warming functionality.

Other changes include a faux leather finish for the dashboard and front and rear door trims and an instrument cluster with back-lit dials and an LCD display for easier use.

New for Mitsubishi on the Outlander is the adaptive front lighting system that considers the steering angle and vehicle speed when casting illumination. Adaptive lighting is standard on the Outlander.

Rear parking sensors, keyless start, cruise control, climate control, a multi-function steering wheel, full leather interior, integrated roof rails and a Rockford Fosgate premium audio system form part of the standard specification on offer.

Outlander retains its 2.4-litre DOHC 16-valve MIVEC GLS engine with 125 kW of power and 226 Nm of torque on tap.

For more adventurous exploits, Outlander is equipped with an electronically contolled four-wheel drive system operated by means of a centrally located selector dial with two-, four- and four-wheel lock modes for a range of driving conditions and terrain.

Should things go a little awry, Outlander's shining safety credentials should help to steady the nerves. Six airbags, active stability control and ABS with EBD are standard.

The Mitsubishi Outlander costs R381 000 and comes with a three-year/100 000 km warranty and three-year/60 000 km service plan. Service intervals are at 15 000 km.
