Mazda BT-50 goes off the edge

Despite a facelift last year, Mazda is still not done fiddling with its BT-50 range. Now there’s a limited edition Edge model too.

The new BT-50 Edge will be limited to run of only 300 units, all of them double-cab two-wheel drive SLE manual models.

Mechanically there are no changes. Power is still drawn from  with the outstanding CRDi 3l turbodiesel engine and channelled via the best-in-class shifting, meaty, five-speed manual transmission.

Edgy styling - no, really

Styling trinkets are what sets the Edge apart from its lesser (though that’s relative) siblings.

Chrome detailing surfaces the side mirrors, whilst a stainless steel sportsbar and side sill protectors round off the reflective embellishments.

In terms of colour the 300 Edge BT-50s will be finished in one of three (very entertainingly named) colours – frozen white, ocean blue and moondust silver.

Step inside the double-cab cabin and you’ll notice black leather seats with contrasting blue Alcantara inserts, the latter being repeated on the door panels.

Just in case you’ve forgotten how special your limited edition Mazda BT-50 is, there are Edge decals littering the exterior styling and embroidered into the front carpet overlays.
