Alfa Romeo has launched its first SUV in SA, the Stelvio.

Cape Town – Alfa Romeo’s first utlity vehicle has arrived in South Africa and the automaker aims to upset the local medium-sized, premium SUV market.

Why the Stelvio moniker? The name is derived from the iconic Stelvio Pass; Italy's highest mountain pass and Highway 38, which crosses it, over 20km in length and with more than 75 hairpin bends.

The Stelvio offers the Alfa Romeo Q4 all-wheel drive system, and can be optionally equipped with mechanical locking rear differential. The new SUV measures 4.7m long, 1.7 tall and 2.2 wide.
